Ford, Toyota overtake General Motors in Nov. Canadian sales

Toyota / Ford

Both Ford and Toyota have surged past GM in new-vehicle sales for November in Canada, though GM still retains the top-selling position for the year to date. Overall Canadian new-vehicle sales fell 3 percent in November from the same time last year. It was the fifth straight month with a single-digit drop in sales, that followed eight straight months of double-digit drops.

Ford took first place for November after seeing sales increase by 1 percent as car sales rose 4% but truck sales decreased 3%. Toyota came in number 2 while Toyota brand sales rose 27 percent and Lexus sales increased 11%. GM sales came down 30% to 14,983.

Though Ford has bested GM in monthly sales numerous times this year, GM still comes in number one with 233,837. Ford holds on to the number two spot with 212,874 units sold.
