Kia’s design team pushing for production Soul’ster
Although Kia has yet to confirm anything officially, designers are rooting for the Korean automaker to put the Soul’ster concept into production. The concept made its debut at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show nearly a year ago with a mission to gather feedback form showgoers, which remained fairly positive.
“Kia’s internal design community is firmly behind building the Soul’ster,” Tom Kearns, chief designer of Kia Motors America, told PickupTrucks.com at the 2009 LA Auto Show. “We’d like to see it happen. There’s no official decision to build it but it’s still possible.”
PickupTrucks.com says that a production version of the Soul’ster could just be what the compact pickup truck segment needs to avoid its steady decline.
The Kia Soul”ster is based on the new 2010 Kia Soul. With front-wheel-drive the Soul”ster Concept can accommodate the 2010 Soul”s 120-hp 1.6L 5-cylinder and a 140-hp 2.0L 4-cylinder.
