According to a report by WhatCar, Mercedes-Benz has not ruled out diesel engines for its AMG models. Oliver Wiech, AMG’s product manager, said that diesel is not ruled out for the AMG versions of the C-Class, E-Class, SLK and SL.
“We are taking an open view and looking at lots of options, but if you look at our announcement on the electric SLS, you can see what is in the future,” Wiech said.
Earlier this year in July, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it is doing an SLS AMG with electric-drive, scheduled to debut in 2015.
Power will come from four-electric motors with a combined output of 526-hp and a peak torque of 649 lb-ft. Mercedes-Benz says that the electric-drive variant will be as quick as the V8 model managing a 0 to 60 mph time in just 4 seconds.
