According to a report by AutoExpress, the much-loved Porsche Spyder will make a comeback in 2013. The model will be based on the upcoming Volkswagen BlueSport Concept underpinnings and will share many components with the rumored Audi R2.
Sources say that the Porsche Spyder successor will have a “reputation for unrivalled driving dynamics, but in a much lighter, fuel efficient and affordable package than any model in recent memory.”
The model will future a folding canvas roof like the Porsche Boxster and will be significantly smaller than the current entry-level Porsche. Power is expected to come from an 4-cylinder turbocharged 2.0 TFSI from the Volkswagen GTI with a Sport version that will be tuned to produce around 280-hp.
Pricing for the Porsche Spyder is expected to start around £28,000 ($45,931 USD).
