Qatar considering buying a stake in Porsche AG

According to a report by Qatar’s Al-Arab newspaper, the country’s prime minister said that the gas-rich nation is considering buying a stake in Porsche AG. Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem Al Thani was quoted saying that there are discussions going on about buying into Porsche but no final decision has been reached.

It is said that Qatar has so far done well during the global economic downturn, better than most of its Persian Gulf peers.

Porsche AG owns 51 percent of Volkswagen and is looking to increase its share to 75 percent later this year.
