In 2006, Chrysler retired the Dodge Neon and replaced it with the Dodge Caliber. Since then, Chrysler hasn’t had a small sedan in its lineup. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Chrysler recently showed a group of dealers the redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee along with a sporty little sedan made by Fiat.
Sources that attended the meeting said that Chrysler’s head of design, Ralph Gilles, said that the company plans to have its own version of the car. Fiat will provide the chassis while Chrysler will design its own exterior sheet metal. The only Fiat mode that we can think of right now that would have sporty sedan capability is the Fiat Bravo.
Gilles said that Chrysler will be counting on several chassis from Fiat but there is no guarantee as of yet.
Chrysler is also planning on selling a version of the Fiat 500 minicar if the two automakers go through with the proposed partnership.
