Rumor: Lamborghini Reventon Roadster in the works?

Lamborghini has been surrounded by many rumors as of recently. It was reported last week that “sources” inside Lamborghini said the company had shelved plans to build the much-anticipated four-door Lamborghini Estoque supercar. Just two days after, Lamborghini released a statement saying it had not put any hold on the development process of the Estoque and that the car has yet to be approved for production by the board and executives.

Well, we now have another report from “a very reliable source inside Lamborghini” that claims that the Italian automaker is working on a roadster version of the very exclusive and very expensive Lamborghini Reventon.

Carsuk.net says that power will come from the 670-hp 6.5L V12 from the recently unveiled Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. Instead of 20 limited-edition units, Lamborghini will make just nine units of the rag-top Reventon which will start at a whopping €1,200,000 ($1.6 million USD).

We have dropped an e-mail to Dominik Hoberg at Lamborghini asking him to verify the authenticity of this report. We’ll get you up-to-date as soon as we get a reply.
