Fiat CEO: Alliance with Chrysler is now in the auto task force’s hands

“We have done everything we were supposed to do regarding our Chrysler proposal. I flew to the U.S. twice for long talks with the president’s automotive task force. “Now it is up to them (the task force) to decide.”

Those are the words of Fiat Group SEO Sergio Marchionne who said he is satisfied with his proposal made to Obama’s auto task force regarding plans to form a partnership with Chrysler.

According to Automotive News, when asked whether he thought the auto task force would accept Fiat’s proposal for Chrysler, Marchionne said that he is not being “optimistic until there is an (official) announcement.” He said that Fiat did its best and could have not done more.

Fiat and Chrysler announced a partnership proposal earlier this year where Fiat will take a non-cash 35 percent stake in the struggling American automaker. It said that there is also a chance to increase its holding to 55 percent.
