Wagoner and other American company executives meet with Obama

General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner was one of the corporate executives who attended a meeting today with President Barack Obama. During a Business Roundtable discussion, Obama told the leaders of top American companies to “support policies that end the cycle of economic boom-and-bust.”

According to Automotive News, in an offhand comment, Obama told the executives that he doesn’t want the U.S. government controlling the economy. “I want you guys to do your thing,” Obama said.

A spokesman from GM said that he did not believe that any specific auto industry issues were bought up during the meeting.

Although we’re guessing Obama was pretty happy to see Wagoner after GM announced today that it did not need $2 billion in government loans this month. No word on whether other Detroit executives attended the meeting.
