Audi R8 V10 and convertible coming next year, in limited numbers

So you’re just going to wait until the other variants of the Audi R8 come out since it’s hard to get your hands on one right now. Well, it doesn’t seem like things are going to get any better. According to Michael Dick, Audi’s member of the board of management for technical development, U.S. customers fight over roughly 50 units that arrive each month.

There just aren’t a lot of them available. Dick says that when the V10 powered R8 arrives in the second half of 2009 Audi will only make 27 units of the powerful R8 a day – for the entire world.

The Audi R8 convertible, or better known as spyder, will also arrive in Europe in the second half of 2009. The U.S. will get their allocation in early 2010 as a 2011 model. Of the third variant, Dick says the R8 spyder comes from the factory’s finite capacity.

Dick confirmed that there will be no V12 TDI diesel version or a baby R4.
