BMW to reveal 7-Series ActiveHybrid and X1 Concept in Paris
Besides the all new 2009 7-Series and the mid-life 3-Series facelift, BMW will come to Paris with an ActiveHybrid version of the 7-Series along with the new compact SUV (or SAV in BMW terms) concept that will provide us with the first look of the upcoming BMW X1.
This is not the first time BMW is showing its ActiveHybrid technology. The technology was first displayed at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, where BMW showed the X6 ActiveHybrid – a two-mode active transmission that was co-developed with GM and Daimler AG.
BMW’s first hybrid model will be the X6 Hybrid, arriving in the U.S. market next year. The new BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid could possibly hint that the Munich automaker is considering its large luxury sedan as its second hybrid model.
Details are still sketchy on the BMW X1 Concept, but sources say look for mechanicals from the X3, 1 and 3-Series.
BMW will also unveil the next-generation Z4 coupe and convertible at the 2008 LA Auto Show in November. The 2009/2010 Z4 model will go on sale in January.
