So you really can’t afford to cash out $38,000 for the Dodge Challenger SRT8 but really want a good-looking muscle car. Well – worry not because Chrysler has added the Dodge Challenger SE and R/T to its 2009 Challenger lineup and prices start at just $21,995. But will that get you the performance you’re looking for?
The entry-level 2009 Dodge Challenger SE is powered by a 3.5L V6 engine that produces 250-hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to 4-speed automatic transmission. The folks at InsideLine recently had the chance to test drive a Challenger SE and reported a 0-60 mph time of 8.1 seconds. Not that impressive but hey – at least you get a fuel-economy of 18/25mpg (city/highway).
If you’re looking for a little more power and have a little more cash to burn – the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T starts at $29,995 and is powered by a 5.7L V8 HEMI that produces 370-hp.
