Mitsubishi Concept-cX gets thumbs-up for production
Mitsubishi has confirmed that the Concept-cX will go into production as a compact 4×4. A senior Mitsubishi source said that “the Concept-cX will become a new sub-Outlander model.” The production model is expected to debut in late 2009. Insiders say the production version will closely resemble the Concept-cX meaning it will have a split tailgate and the Lancer-style front end.
All-wheel-drive will be a standard feature with a range of diesel engines including a new 1.8 liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 134-hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be mated with the new twin-clutch SST which is used in the 2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X.
There are no details on other engines in the lineup and since we’ve only heard word on the diesel range – there is definitely no word on whether it will come to the stateside.
Oh and Mitsubishi will drop the cX badge and pick something that fits with the flavor of the Mitsubishi product lineup.
