2010 Ford Taurus will get all-wheel-drive and EcoBoost

Spies have recently caught the 2010 Ford Taurus and the car looks very much like the grainy picture that was leaked on the internet back in AprilMotorTrend says that the 2010 Ford Taurus will carry some of design elements of from Ford of Europe’s “kinetic design” styling, but will be a little more toned down than the Mondeo integrating some design elements from current stateside vehicles.

It was previously reported that the next-generation Ford Mondeo, which will see a few design changes to incorporate the new Fiesta style, will be rebadged and sold in the U.S. as a Taurus.

The 2010 Ford Taurus is expected to stay front-wheel-drive with all-wheel-drive available as an option. Volvo’s D Platform and Mazda’s CD3 platform that underpins the Flex are being considered.

Power will come from a family of new EcoBoost engines that will first debut in the Lincoln MKS next year. That will be a 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 engine that produces an estimated 340-hp and 340 ft.-lbs. of torque, capable of delivering 20 percent better fuel-economy.

Ford is also rumored to be working on a new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with high-power EcoBoost.
