Hamilton victorious in British Grand Prix besides bad weather

Lewis Hamilton raked in his third victory of the season as the 23-year-old F1 driver pushed his McLaren-Mercedes to first place at the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit this past Sunday. After 60 laps in rainy weather conditions, he lapped every drive besides two and came 68.5 seconds ahead of Nick Heidfeld of BMW-Sauber.

“This was the toughest race, but also one of the best ones I have ever driven. It was so extreme and slippery out there, very similar to the Japanese Grand Prix in Fuji last year,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton’s partner Heikki Kovalainen ended up in fifth-place. After nine out of 18 Grand Prix races, Lewis has 48 points, tying him with Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen. Kovalainen is sixth overall with 24 points.
