2009 Subaru Forester tops Toyota RAV4 in Consumer Reports ranking
The new redesigned 2009 Subaru Forester has beaten the Toyota RAV4, becoming the top-ranked compact SUV in the latest Consumer Reports tests. In addition to the new Subaru Forester and the RAV4, Consumer Reports tested the new new Nissan Rogue, the four-cylinder Mitsubishi Outlander, the Kia Sorento and the redesigned Jeep Liberty.
Consumer Reports says that it is only recommending the Forester and Outlander in their small SUV ratings since the Rouge is too new for them to have reliability data and the Kia Sorento’s below-average reliability keeps them from even considering it. The Jeep Liberty scored very badly coming in below its predecessor.
The 2009 Subaru Forester starts at $20,660 for the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine base model, a $1,085 drop from the outgoing model. The Premium Package model starts at $23,160 and comes with a power moonroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel audio controls, roof rails and reclining rear seats. The range-topper 2.5XT Limited tops out at $28,860.
Consumer Reports said that it also tested the new mid-sized Dodge Journey is a separate test and give it a rating of “good.”
