Civic selling well in 2008, Honda to increase production

As a result of high gas prices and a shift to smaller cars, sales of the Civic were up almost 15 percent in the first four months of the year to 111,695 and also performed well in May. Honda is now looking to increase production of the Civic for 2008.

According to American Honda chief Dick Colliver, Honda will try to “squeeze” more units out of its Civic plants, possibly by working overtime. In April, Civic production output was up 24.8 percent 66,001 units at the Alliston No. 1 plant. Its East Liberty play, Honda produced 49,107 units, up 6.6 percent from last year.

The Honda Civic sedan with a 5-speed automatic transmission sells for $15,645 and gets 25/36mpg (city/highway)

Colliver said that all trim levels of the Civic are selling well but the sedan with an automatic transmission is doing the best.
