Toyota iQ will be ‘greener’ than the Prius

Toyota’s upcoming iQ may have some space saving technologies break-through, but what’s more exciting is that the minicar will be the most fuel-efficient model in Toyota’s lineup, beating out the beloved Prius. Toyota says that the iQ will have CO2 emissions of 99 grams per kilometer.

The Toyota Prius is currently the lowest CO2 emissions in all of Toyota’s lineup with 104g/km. Toyota has yet to announce any powertrain or technical details of the iQ but power is expected to come from a Yamaha produced 1.8 liter unit.

The iQ will go into production late 2008 with a sales target of 100,000 units for the first year. We may get some tech specs at the New York Auto Show later this month.
