Car and Driver takes the BMW 135i from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds

Car and Driver takes the BMW 135i from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds

If you’ve been reading eGMCarTech for more than a year (which we wish you have) you probably remember our article called “Can”t afford the new M3? Consider holding out for the BMW 135i.” Well the wait is over and the 135i is here and so are the results from major car magazines. CarAndDriver recently reported their test results for the 135i with a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.7 seconds.

Now we all know that the 135i is powered by the same award-winning 3.0L 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine found in the 335i coupe. On paper BMW says that the 135i does 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds. For the 335i coupe, BMW says that the 0-60 sprint comes in at 5.3 seconds. To us, that seems highly unlikely since the 135i is lighter and smaller than the 335i coupe.

Any how, we’re looking forward to when someone puts the new 2008 BMW M3 head-to-head with the 135i. That should be an interesting face off. Until then join us as we think about whether we should throw our $57,275 on an M3 or $35,675 on the 135i. Oh and not to mention, the 135i comes standard with an M suspension, an M Aero kit and that sexy M steering wheel.
