Volkswagen dealers are excited for 2008 as a flood of new products arrive in showrooms along with a new advertising strategy to back them up. The six new vehicles include two green vehicles, the Jetta TDI 50-state diesel, due in May and the Touareg TDI diesel due in the fall.
Others include the long-awaited Routan minivan, the Tiguan crossover, the Jetta Sportswagen and the flagship Passat CC.
“Dealers always want new stuff,” said Richard Fisher, owner of The Autobarn Limited in Chicago. “We want to be concerned about launching all the new cars properly, but we’ve got a lot of confidence in the new leadership.”
VW is moving ahead with its VW Marketplace exclusive stores. Of 588 U.S. VW dealers, 350 are Marketplace stores. Those stores account for 75 percent of sales.
