Toyota may be teaming up with its partner Subaru to build the next-generation Celica. According to Japanese magazine Best Car, Toyota will offer two version of the Celica when it is revealed to the public in 2011 or earlier.
The first will be the cheaper GT version that will be powered by a 2.0L Subaru 4-cylinder engine that produces 200hp, much like the boxer engine in the entry level Impreza. Target pricing for the base GT version is rumored to be under $20,000. The range-topping GT-Four version is rumored to have four-wheel-drive and is expected to be powered by the 300hp engine from the Japanese spec Subaru Impreza WRX STi.
Of course, there is also speculation of a hybrid version. To take this rumor a step further, there may also be a three-door hatchback version of the Celica this time around.
