Video: Audi exec confirms mystery Audi in fire was indeed an RS8

The automotive blogs were recently flooded with pictures of yet another “Audi R8” which caught on fire going around the Nurburgring. Many speculated that it was an Audi R8 with a V10 engine.

Now Audi executive Wener Frowein has confirmed that the car that caught on fire in the Nurburgring was indeed an Audi RS8 powered by the 580 horsepower twin-turbo V10 from the Audi RS6 Avant. According to Frowein, the engine created too much heat for the mid-engine setup.
