So you remember the spy shots we posted last week of a mystery super car spotted by our friends over at CarMagazine? Speculators said that it was either a Lotus, McLaren or the new Noble. Well our new friends over at Fast Lane Daily have dug up the dirt on this mystery supercar.
Fast Lane Daily sources say that this baby is a new Lotus sports car that will compete with the Porsche 911 Carrera. Code named ‘Project Eagle,’ this new 2+2 sports car will be slotted between the Lotus Elise and the upcoming Lotus Esprit. The design for the ‘Project Eagle’ is expected to be based on the Lotus M250 Concept Car (see pictures after the jump) shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1999.
Power in the Lotus’ ‘Project Eagle’ will come from a V8 drivetrain sourced from Toyota. The car is expected to be out in 2008 in the UK and 2009 in the U.S. with production set at 1,500 cars annually. Price tag is expected to be $75,000.
