Now that Aston Martin has revealed its new DBS that goes on sale next year, CEO Ulrich Bez is saying that the company’s number one priority is developing the Rapide. Aston Martin’s chief designer, Marek Reichman, said the four-door-coupe will arrive in 2009 or 2010 and will cost around $400,000.
“We are working from a coupe architecture,” said Reichman, “but it will be a four-door sports car. People are going to do a double-take when they see four heads in it.”
But CEO Bez is saying that he won’t reveal the car until he thinks it is absolutely ready. “If it’s not there, if a part doesn’t fit, we’re not going to do it,” said Bez.
While we expect the Rapide to be a totally gorgeous car, we’re more excited about a new Aston Martin flagship that is code-named DBX. While Bez won’t reveal any information on the DBX, he did say that it will arrive after the Rapide and will be priced higher than the four-door-coupe.
Rumor has it that the DBX will be a successor to the Vanquish and may even be a mid-engined supercar based on the Prodrive 2.
