Report: Next-generation Honda Fit getting bigger with 55mpg

Already confirmed by Honda CEO, Takeo Fukui, a new Honda Fit will make its debut in Japan this fall. Well new information has just made its way over to WindingRoad from Japan about the new Honda Fit’s redesign and specs.

According to sources, the next-generation Fit says will improve on the current model and will be 2 inches longer and 1 inch wider. The next Honda Fit will be powered from by Honda’s 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine that produces 100 horsepower.

The car is also expected to deliver Prius like economy with nearly a 55 mpg fuel economy. The current Honda Fit gets 33/38 city/highway.

The Honda Fit, which debuted in April 2006, sold 27,934 units in the United States last year. For the first six months of 2007, US sales were 23,769 for the Fit. There is no doubt that the Fit is a hit amongst US consumers.
