Next-generation Vauxhall cars will ‘talk to each other’

When the next generation Vauxhall Calibra hits the market, it will carry a technology that is bound to make Vauxhall some of the safest vehicles in the world. In an effort to reduce the number of accidents, Vauxhall is introducing a technology called Vehicle-to-Vehicle.

The advanced GPS-based system allows two cars in close range to ‘talk’ to each other providing information on location, speed, acceleration and direction of travel. If the system feels it needs to warn the driver of the car ahead, it will give send sound cues, visual cues or even vibrations through the seats to alert the driver.

The system can also alert the driver of cars hidden in their blind spot, lane changes by other drivers that are not indicating and to potential rear end collisions.
