Nissan has recalled 140,582 2007 Nissan Altima cars due to a fault in the air filter that can cause it to catch fire if put near a hot object. The recall is being made for 2007 Nissan Altimas with a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine according to US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Nissan began notifying owners of the fault on July 3rd with four fires reported in February and March. The vehicles, which are still under warranty, will get a new filter and an air deflector that will prevent a buildup of debris at the filter.
The 2007 Nissan Altima is the company’s best selling US model accounting for for 140,253 of Nissan’s US sales in the beginning of 2007 through June.
