The new 2007 Dodge Nitro and the 2007 Chrysler Sebring are being known as duds after Bob Lee, head of powertrain engineering, told Chrysler employees at a recent question-and-answer session that the company misjudged the market for the two cars.
Lee said that CEO Tom LaSorda is “quite upset” and agreed the company “missed where the market was to end up versus our projections.”
“As a result of these embarrassing ‘misses,’ there are extremely aggressive actions being taken on many of the existing products — and also the yet to be introduced products to get us at least to the middle of the competitive pack in very short order,” Lee wrote.
In a recent interview with Detroit News, Frank Klegon, Chrysler’s product development chief, pointed out many actions being taken to improve Chryslers existing lineup and the new upcoming models.
