Hyundai considering Veloster and Hellion for Generation Y

Hyundai is considering the Veloster and Hellion concept cars for production for Generation Y buyers in the United States. “There”s actually several (vehicles under consideration) right now, and we”re doing research on each of them,” Wayne Killen, director-product planning for Hyundai Motor America, told Wards Auto.

The Hyundai Veloster concept (pictured above), which debuted at the Seoul Auto Show, is a front-wheel-drive 2.0 liter DOHC 4-cylinder with 5-speed automatic. Hellion (pictured below) is a compact three-door sport crossover with a 3.0 liter V6 engine that produces 236 horsepower.

Killen admitted to Wards Auto that one of Hyundai’s biggest challenge right now is to develop a vehicle that appeals to Gen Y.

Hyundai is also considering the i30 compact wagon for the United States that will compete against the Mazda3 and Toyota’s Matrix
