Nissan plans clean-diesel Maxima for US in 2010

Nissan CEO, Ghosn, said today that the company will launch its first clean diesel car in the US by 2010 when speaking to the Council of Foreign Relations. Ghosn said that the company will launch a diesel variant of the Maxima in the US and other clean diesel vehicles in Japan and China.

Nissan just announced last week that it is teaming up with NEC in a joint venture to produce lithium-ion batteries in 2009 that will be used in hybrids an other electric cars in order to challenge their competitors. The joint venture will produce batteries for Nissan”s first true hybrid car planned for launch in 2010.
