Volkswagen recalls 790,000 US vehicles

Volkswagen of America said Monday that it is recalling 790,000 vehicles because of problems with the brake light switch that could malfunction if they were installed improperly. The comapny said that the light could either remain on constantly or not function altogether, which could distract other drivers leading to a potential crash.

The recall involves several Volkswagen cars including 1999-2006 model years of the Golf and GTI, 2001-2005 Jettas, 2001-2007 New Beetles and the 2004 R32. Contact your local Volkswagen dealership to schedule an appointment to get your brake lights checked out if you own one of these models.
