Honda’s CEO Reveals Production Plan for 2007 – 2009

Honda’s CEO, Takeo Fukui, outlined Honda’s plans for new models in his 2006 Year-End CEO Speech. Plans for the years 2007 through 2009 include an all new 2008 Honda Accord and a final production version of Honda’s fuel cell concept, the FCX. Below is an outline of what Honda has in the works:

New Honda Accord for US in 2007: Honda will launch a new 2008 Honda Accord sedan and a 2008 Honda Accord coupe in the US, for which a concept version will be shown at the NAIAS in Detroit.

Fuel Cell Honda for US & Japan in 2008: Honda will finally launch a new production version of a fuel cell vehicle that will be based on the popular and successful Honda FCX Concept.

A 7 Seater Honda Crossover for Japan in 2007: Set for launch in Speing of 2007, Honda will launch a new model 7 seater SUV which will sit in the middle of the CRV and the Honda Passport.

New Honda Hybrid in 2009: After its end to the Honda insight, Honda will launch a new model dedicated to Hybrid technology in 2009 and will continue with a Honda Civic hybrid. Honda also has plans to offer a Hybrid model in the new Acoord.

New Diesel Engine for US & Japan: Within the next 3 year Honda will expand its “super-clean diesel” option in its lineup. With the popularity of diesel engines growing Honda will offer a new diesel engine for its vehicles in the US and Japan.
