While most people who retire spend their life golfing or living in a beach house, 101 year old Virgil Coffman likes living in the fast lane. The centenarian recently became the oldest known owner of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Which Camaro did he purchase? A 400-hp, bright yellow, Transformers edition Camaro SS.

“Impressed by the overall design, Virgil was ultimately sold on the cars’ easy handling. After owning nearly 40 cars in his lifetime, he follows the philosophy that if you want something, get it,” GM said in a statement. “These days Virgil says he can’t go anywhere without strangers asking him about his car and he’s already planning road trips for next summer.”

Coffman has officially became our favorite 100+ year old person.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special Edition:

General Motors today released new images of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept giving it the official name of “50th Anniversary Corvette Stingray Concept.”

In a short press release, GM said that the “Corvette Stingray Concept represents both the iconic legacy and an exciting future for Corvette.”

“The Corvette Stingray Concept was developed as an internal design challenge to combine classic Corvette cues with surprisingly high-tech features, modern materials, and a striking new appearance. The car is well-appointed with a clamshell hood, scissor-style doors, ergonomic seats, rear-view camera with night vision enhancement, and a high performance hybrid drive. Interactive touch controls allow the driver to customize the power and efficiency of his or her ride and share it with friends via the in-car camera system and advanced telemetrics.”

Earlier this year, Tom Stephen, GM’s vice chairman of global product development, said that GM may consider offering a hybrid powertrain for the Corvette. To boost fuel-economy GM plans to reduce the weight of the Corvette, offer low resistance tires and an engine with direct injection, variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation.

There is not much to say except that this is the coolest Halloween costume we’ve ever seen. We wonder if this guy will go to the steps as a Chevrolet Camaro and then transform into Bumblebee and scream “TRICK OR TREAT!”

Michael Bay has confirmed that the third part of his Transformers series will be released on July 1, 2011.

“P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back,” Michael Bay said on his website. “I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep.”

Not plot details are available as of yet – but we’re really hoping that it’ll be better than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

German tuner Irmscher decided to team up with GM for a tribute to the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Bumblebee. However, instead of just throwing another Bumblebee package on a 2010 Camaro, Irmscher is offering a Bumblebee version of the new Chevrolet Cruze.

Based on a 1.8 LT automatic Cruze, Irmscher Bumblebee Cruze features a black exterior with orange stripes, side-view mirror casings and fog lamps in the same color, an orange-painted diffuser, 18-inch Irmscher Turbo Star wheels with 225 mm wide tires and a double-pipe rear silencer. Ride height of the Bumblebee Cruze was lowered by 30 millimeters.

The Irmscher Bumblebee Chevrolet Cruze will make its world debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show in September. Something tells us that Irmscher got the idea from somewhere else.

14-year old boy drinks gasoline to be like Optimus Prime: A 14-year old boy in China drank gasoline for five years to obtain ’special powers’ like his idols Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. The boy watched the animated TV series growing up and began drinking gasoline to become ”valiant fighter” his father said. “He began to drink gasoline five years ago, when we found he liked smelling lighter fuel,” he said. New GM to launch Cadillac fragrance line: I personally love the smell of gasoline and always wished that there was a cologne inspired by the smell of gas-stations. I guess this is the closest we’ll ever get it (alongside the Ferrari cologne). The new General Motors Company, fresh out of bankruptcy court, is planning a new fragrance line using its Cadillac brand. The fragrance for men does not smell like the interior of a new luxury car but more like a “mix of geranium, tarragon and cinnamon – plus sweet spice and incense.” – Star (via Jalopnik)

GM to sell the Chevrolet Volt on eBay: GM recently announced that it is talking to eBay about forming a new partnership to sell its cars on the famous auctioning site. Each unit of the Volt is likely to be built at a loss due to the amount of expensive technology. It is now reported that GM is looking to sell the upcoming plug-in hybrid on eBay hoping that it will make profit on some of the sales. GM-Volt

Today at Comic-con in San Diego, GM announced the release of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Special Edition allowing us Autobot fans a chance to become Sam Witwicky and have our very own Bumblebee parked in our garage.

“When the first TRANSFORMERS movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to purchase the ‘BUMBLEBEE’ Camaro,” said Karen Rafferty, product marketing director, Chevrolet. “Now, they can buy one with the new Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition. Streets all over North America will be buzzing in no time.”

The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro TRANSFORMERS Special Edition includes the following:

- AUTOBOT® shield on the driver and passenger side panels
- AUTOBOT® shield on each of the four wheel’s center cap
- AUTOBOT® shield embroidered on interior center console
- “TRANSFORMERS” logo on driver and passenger doors’ sill plates
- “TRANSFORMERS” logo embedded into the hood rally stripes
- High-gloss black center rally stripe package
- Manufacturer’s suggested retail price of package: $995

The Transformers Special Edition Package is available on both versions of the Camaro: 304-hp V6 and the V8 Camaro SS. Dealers are now taking orders for the car.

We’ve been quite busy wrapping up our week with the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS (it goes back tomorrow and we’re really depressed). Nonetheless, the show must go on and it’s now time for our daily (give or take a day here and there) Miscellaneous Thoughts post.

Megan Fox cleaned Michael Bay’s Ferrari for Transformers audition: Director Michael Bay and actress Megan Fox have been on a fairly rocky relationship recently. In a recent interview, Fox said that Bay’s Transformers sequel was “not a movie about acting.” Bay eventually hit back saying Fox was “ridiculous” and said she “had some growing up to do.” Making it just a little more spicy, U.K. broadcaster Jason Solomons reported that Fox was forced to wash Bay’s Ferrari when she auditioned for her breakthrough role in Transformers. ”He made her wash his Ferrari while he filmed her,” Solomons said. When questioned, Fox said that she “didn’t know what had happened to that footage.”  When Solomons asked Bay, he said :”Er, I don’t know where it is either.” I think we have the footage somewhere around our office. – SFGate

New Camaro Z28 spotted in GM’s design studio: It was reported earlier this year that the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 had been put on hold since it ran out of money to launch the car – meaning design and engineering work must have been completed. A new image has popped up on the Camaro5 forums showing a scan from a book called “Camaro, an American Icon.” The image shows GM designers working on a Camaro Z28. 2010 Ford Taurus SHO crashes in Chicago: The report says that a sold 2010 Ford Taurus SHO left the dealership and came back on a flatbed. Apparently it was involved in a 3 car pile up. – ChicagoSVT

You better believe we’re going to head to the theaters on the eve of the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen release date and catch good seating for a midnight show.

It’s a bond between man and machine that very few understand and it seems like these Chinese citizens take it to the next level.

Celebrating the release of the sequel, a bunch of Transformers, Bumblebee and Camaro fans in China got together to go on a parade. It seems like on one Camaro was on hand, while others took their yellow Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Accords and Nissans and tricked them out with black striping to show support for their favorite AutoBot.

Michael Bay’s Transformers series gets the best of most of us nerds and auto enthusiasts. The thought of our cars turning into robots to save mankind is not only out of this world, but something only ‘geeks’ can imagine. GM will be offering a limited-edition 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee Package, which we expect will go for a hefty price tag.

And what do you do when you don’t have the money to pay for an exclusive limited-edition Bumblebee Camaro? You build one for yourself. Take this huge Chevrolet Camaro and Bumblebee fan in China.

Story goes that he couldn’t afford the U.S. equivalent of $200,000 for a brand new Camaro in China and decided to buy the Chevrolet Cruze instead. He then ‘transformed’ his car into a ‘Bumblebee Cruze’ instead of the ‘Bumblebee Camaro.’

Brilliant. AutoBots… roll out.

Linkin Park released their new single, ‘New Divide,’ for the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Soundtrack; GM announced it will be offering a limited edition Bumblebee 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Package; and now, director Michael Bay has just released three TV spots for the new sequel.

Jason Drees of Symdon Chevrolet-Pontiac in Wisconsin has just confirmed that GM will be offering a limited-edition 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee package, which will be available to order starting June 1. Production of the limited-edition Bumblebee 2010 Camaro will run from June 24 to December.

The package will be available on LT and SS models and will feature the Rally Yellow with black Bumblebee stripes and Transformers badging on wheel centers, sill plates and embroidered console lid.

After posting many stories of the auto industry taking the biggest hit in its history in years, we wrap today up with something that will get you pretty excited for June 24, 2009. For all you Autobot, Bumblebee, Megan Fox and Chevrolet Camaro fans, that date stands for the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

While “revenge isn’t coming” (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) until June 24, 2009, Paramount Pictures has already scheduled its second “Transformers” sequel for 2011’s Independence Day week.

The studio confirmed yesterday that it has booked July 1, 2011 as the release date of Transformer 3. There is not word on the storyline or the official name for the third installment of the movie.

GM has said that it is cutting North American marketing spending by $800 million in 2009. The move is expected to trickle down into sponsorship money for the upcoming Paramount sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – which hits theaters this summer.

The first Transformers drummed up a lot of interest for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro which hits dealerships this spring. It is said that 10,000 customers contacted GM last fall to reserve the muscle car before its production debut. According Advertising Age, GM may not be in its current financial shape with the sequel hits theaters and may not be able to “reap” the benefits of a Chevrolet star-studded Autobots lineup.

In recent years, Hollywood movies can gather up at least $30 million to $50 million in sponsorships that tie into movies. Since GM lost $30.9 billion in 2008 and reported a net loss of $9.6 billion in the fourth quarter, the Detroit automaker is cutting back spending. That means Paramount will have to make up for GM’s scale back.
