Our favorite segment during the premier of Top Gear season 14 was watching James May being driven by The Stig in the 2009 BMW 760Li as he raced the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG. You can check out the clip after the jump.

2009 BMW 760Li: 6.0L turbocharged V12 making 535-hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic, 0-60 mph comes in just 4.5seconds with a top speed of 160 mph.
2009 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG: 6.2L V8 producing 518-hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic and assists with a 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 150 mph.

BBC has released a new trailer for Top Gear Series 14, which will make its debut on November 15. Once again, the trailer features the Top Gear team when they were children talking about the trials and tribulations of growing up.

BBC’s Top Gear, known for attracting controversy, is being criticized by television watchdog Ofcom for showing scenes of a man committing suicide before 9 p.m. watershed. Ofcom said that Top Gear had breached broadcasting regulations that aim at protecting children from violence by airing a spoof of a Volkswagen advert in which man shoots himself in the head.

Ofcom said that Top Gear had breached rile 1.11 of Broadcasting Code. It said: “This edition, the final show of the programme’s thirteenth series, featured a spoof remake of an advertisement for a Volkswagen car which showed a man committing suicide with a gunshot to the head, followed by blood splattering out after the impact. “The scene also included a depiction of the dead man lying in a pool of blood. Fifty viewers contacted Ofcom to complain about this scene, which they felt was too graphic and unsuitable for the time of broadcast (8pm) because children were watching.”

49-year-old Jeremy Clarkson said that the only way to ensure that Top Gear doesn’t offend anyone would be if none of the hosts spoke.

“One day we’ll do an episode of Top Gear in which none of us speak,” Clarkson said. ”It’s the only way they will have nothing to complain about. I don’t think I’ve done anything naughty this year, though, have I?”

Clarkson, known for his straightforwardness, described a car as being “a bit gay” and “a ginger beer” in 2006. The BBC also apologized after Clarkson asked co-host Richard Hammond if he was “mental” when he returned to Top Gear after a near-fatal car crash.

One out of every three respondents to a new survey by Shell and AutoExpress said that they are envious of Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson’s job. Clarkson came ahead of Nigella Lawson, an English food writer, journalist who beat Bear Grylls, host of Man vs. Wild, who came in third.

Coming in fourth was Simon Cowell, followed by the Queen, Richard Branson (owner of the Virgin brand), Cheryl Cole (an English singer) and President Barack Obama (that would be our president). David Beckham, JK Rowling, Hugh Hefner and the Pope also made it on the list.

The survey, which consisted of 1,621 adults, also found that three quarters admit they are not in their dream job and are looking for a change. About 75 percent said they would love to be an author or work for a magazine.

“Last week I wrote about my recent trip to America, and to be honest it didn’t go down well,” Clarkson said. “I don’t think I’ve ever been on the receiving end of such a blizzard of bile. One man called me an ‘imbosile’. Hundreds more suggested that it’d be better for everyone if I just stayed at home in future.”

“You know the Stig. The all-white racing driver we use on Top Gear. Well, we were filming him walking through the Mojave desert when lo and behold a lorry full of soldiers rocked up and arrested him. He was unusual. He wasn’t fat. He must therefore be a Muslim.”

No details on why The Stig was arrested. Separately, Top Gear.com is reporting that the Stig was arrested in Dublin “by a FRIENDLY POLICEMAN following an ALLEGED INCIDENT of some kind.”

No idea who or what to believe here – but we thought we’d let you know.

The accident happened during a filming of a stunt for Top Gear where James May was on board a camper van held up in the air by a blimp. According to the Daily Mail, strong winds blew the blimp off course and May ended up crashing in a farmer’s field.

The aftermath, as described by Top Gear:

“The good news is that our brave hero has emerged from the slightly scratched wreckage UNHARMED.

After PLUMMETING to the ground at a MASSIVE two miles an hour, May’s craft SLAMMED into a small bush and then just sort of STOPPED. Thankfully, trained rescue staff were on the scene in seconds to intercept James as he stepped out of the airship and were able to administer a much needed flask of TEA and some NICE BISCUITS.

May has since returned home for a SIT DOWN and some light piano practise, after which he is reported to be “very well, thank you for asking.“

About 2 months ago, Top Gear host James May set out to build a two-story house made entirely out of Legos. Well, the house is now being broken down after no-one showed any interest in purchasing it. Originally, May planned on moving the house to Legoland for their theme park; however, plans fell through since transportation costs were to high. There was even a last minute appeal on Facebook, but no-one came forward.

A spokesman for the Lego house (we’re impressed it even has a spokesman) said that the bricks will be donated to the Denbies Wine Estate once it has been demolished.

“It was never intended to be a permanent fixture on the site as it was a temporary structure that didn’t have planning permission,” said the spokesman. ”We were always happy to have it there for as long as was wanted.”

The blokes at BBC have just confirmed that the next-series of Top Gear will be in HD. That means you’ll see all the supercars, Ken Block drifting, racing and The Stig in crystal clear high-definition.

Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed that the filming of Series 14 is well underway and if all goes as planned, it should be on your TV screens by mid-November.

Until then, you’ll have to stick to FaceTube.

Imagine driving up to your £2m ($3 million) Cotswolds house and finding six bags of horse manure dumped on your driveway and front lawn? How would you react? Well, Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson was fairly amused by the actions of seven members of Climate Rush who dumped manure on his property and raised a banner outside his house reading: “This is what you’re landing us in.”

The environmentalist group said that they targeted Clarkson because he promotes polluting cars that will ultimately lead to global warming.

One of the members, Tamsin Omond, granddaughter of the founder of Climate Rush, said that she was a fan of Clarkson and Top Gear, but thinks Clarkson’s attitude towards climate change is encouraging the world to drive cars that emit high amounts of emissions.

“I love Jeremy. I love fast cars. I love progress,” she said. “But I learnt some things and those things terrify me. I learnt that climate change will make my future unrecognisable. I know that I’ll not have the same choices that Jeremy has now. If we keep on loving the fossil-fuelled lifestyle then by the time I hit 49 the world will be too busy coping with the impact of climate change to bother about how big an engine is possible.”

Clarkson’s response to all this?

“”It’s nice of them to buy me something for my roses,” Clarkson said. “I must buy them a patio heater.”

Some say he is none other than Michael Schumacher, which is highly impossible. Some say that there is more than one of him; all we know is – he is none other than The Stig – Top Gear’s ace driver. According to a quarter of Brits recently surveyed, the true identity of The Stig is a biggest mystery of the century – even more than who killed JFK.

Knowing who The Stig is came a head of other mysteries such as who killed Marilyn Monroe, the disappearances of Lord Lucan and Shergar and the Bermuda Triangle.

Our new guess: Captain slow James May is The Stig.

Yesterday, we posted Top Gear’s review of the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage by Jeremy Clarkson. Apparently, the calm and sad review of the most outstanding supercars on the market was seen as the end of the Top Gear series. Rumors started on Twitter that Clarkson wasn’t sad about the end of V12 wonders due to government fuel-economy restrictions or the global economic meltdown, but about the demise of Top Gear itself.

Top Gear cleared up rumors today by simply saying “Top Gear is NOT DEAD. Unless it went in the night and has yet to be discovered by the maid…”

So for those freaking out about losing their favorite TV show – relax, because Clarkson, Hammond and May will return in November with a whole new series.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May wrapped up Season 13 of Top Gear last night. Clarkson completed the last segment by driving the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage in a very simple, calm and sad review that left us tired, lazy and… well, sad. Either way, we’re going to call it a day with this and we’ll see you here tomorrow morning again for another day of automotive news.

Refresher: Power comes from a 6.0L V12 engine that makes 510-hp with a maximum torque of 420 lb-ft. The 0 to 62 mph run comes in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph.
