Press Release:

MY2012 Suzuki Preview Information

As a whole the automotive industry has begun to turn a corner, but not without first having endured a difficult couple of years full of unprecedented challenges. The most recent for Suzuki, as well as for many other OEMs, was the tragic earthquake and tsunami that occurred in Japan in March. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the millions affected, which include family members and friends of many of our own Suzuki employees. From an operations standpoint, our Hamamatsu-based headquarters is situated well outside of the region directly affected by the devastation. Nevertheless, we expect a slowdown in production volume in the months ahead, mainly due to parts and supplier shortages.

While sales in the U.S. have begun to turnaround and trend upwards, so have fuel prices, making Suzuki’s diverse line of small, affordable vehicles even more relevant to American consumers.

With Sales up nearly 17% year-to-date, Suzuki will continue to refine and improve upon the
competitiveness of its line-up in MY12 with more standard safety features, upgraded in-vehicle
technology, improved fuel-economy, new colors for every model and added special value
packages to further build on the brand’s value commitment to practicality and unparalleled value.

The Kizashi mid-size sedan enters MY12 with terrific sales momentum (+47% year to date) on the heels of earning new awards in consumer satisfaction from multiple premiere consumer research organizations. Recent unveilings of two Kizashi concepts at the New York International Auto Show – the fuel efficient EcoCharge model and the turbo APEX model – hinted at how the Suzuki can broaden the Kizashi’s appeal to broaden its fan base in the future. For 2012, the Kizashi improves on its winning value story by maintaining its starting price of $18,999 (plus Destination & Handling charge of $765) and adding a new high-value leather equipped Kizashi trim (SE Leather Edition) to the line-up with a starting price $2,000 lower than the top-trim SLS model. Overall, the Kizashi line-up pricing is up less than 1% for MY12 and builds on its reputation as a category “Best Buy” as recognized by Consumers Digest in 2011.

The on and off-road capable Grand Vitara compact SUV will arrive with a new model, named the
Ultimate Adventure Edition, featuring black chrome-finished 18-inch alloy wheels, water resistant
two-tone heated seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, and integrated outside turn and fog lamps at a special value oriented price. Beginning in spring of 2012, the Grand Vitara will show off its new profile with a new rear tailgate design, eliminating the spare tire on some models. In addition, the Grand Vitara receives improvements to its class-exclusive standard navigation system, now featuring voice command recognition and an enhanced suite of standard interactive features such as traffic information, weather forecast, 3D maps including lane guidance, Google Local Point-of-Interest Search, among the highlights. The Grand Vitara’s starting price increases by $200 in thenew model year, and overall weighted average price increase is limited to just over 1% for the new model year.

Suzuki continues to refine and improve the ever-popular SX4 line – Sedan, SportBack and
Crossover AWD – with enhancements to technology, safety, and fuel economy. All SX4 models will adopt upgraded Garmin Navigation System with Voice Command Recognition (Navigation remains standard on all SX4 Sedan Sport trims and optional on other SX4 configurations) along with a suite of interactive features similar to those in Grand Vitara. The sedans will also receive standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC1) and rear disc brakes across the line up (currently standard on Crossover and SportBack), as well as improved fuel economy on the SX4 Sedan LE automatic (improvement of nearly 8% in MPG).

The MY12 SX4 Crossover AWD will retain its status as America’s most affordable all-wheel-drive
automobile with no increase to its starting price of $16,999 (plus $765 for destination & handling
charge) and will adopt standard Alloy Wheels on all automatic transmission equipped models.
Overall, the SX4 line-up will experience an average 1% price increase in MY12.

Last, but not least, Suzuki’s award-winning Equator midsize pickup truck will return to fill the needs of both our work-oriented customer as well as our weekend warrior customers whose passions are fueled by motorcycle and marine-related activities. For 2012, the Equator 4-cylinder models will adopt standard Electronic Stability Control now making ESC standard throughout the entire Equator line-up. The Equator will continue to offer a class-leading V6 motor and off-road hardware along with America’s #1 Warranty (7-years/100,000 miles of limited powertrain protection). Pricing for Equator will be released at a later date.

SUZUKI DEBUTS KIZASHI APEX CONCEPT
AT 2011 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

Turbocharged Sport Sedan Conveys Iconic Suzuki Sportbike Heritage

NEW YORK (April 19, 2011) - American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) unveiled a turbo concept version of its Kizashi sport sedan at the company’s 2011 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) press conference this evening. The turbocharged Kizashi Apex Concept showcases the link between Suzuki’s automotive division and its championship-winning motorcycles.

“Our turbo-equipped concept leverages the already-exceptional Kizashi platform and infuses it with a substantial boost,” said Steve Younan, director of automotive marketing and product planning, American Suzuki Motor Corporation. “The Kizashi Apex Concept will further elevate our flagship sedan in the U.S. among enthusiasts who crave added power and performance.”

More Power Under the Hood

The Kizashi Apex Concept features a Garrett turbocharger, an air-to-liquid intercooler, electronic boost control, and a specific engine control unit calibration to provide outstanding drivability. The system takes the Kizashi’s peak output into the 275-300 horsepower range, with a maximum boost of 8.5 psi. This powertrain is matched exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission. Specific system components are as follows:

Garrett/Honeywell 2871 R ball bearing turbocharger

Internally wastegated 0.86 A/R turbine housing

Oil and water cooled bearing system

Turbine housing cast from high-nickel “Ni-Resist” material for extreme applications

Turbine wheel cast from lightweight iconel materials for extreme applications

Key to the Kizashi Apex Concept’s performance is its air-to-liquid intercooler, purposed for more effective charge air cooling in a smaller package. The unit’s relatively small heat exchanger and circulation pump are designed to be minimally intrusive to vehicle cooling. The intercooler’s primary advantage comes from the reduction in the overall length of ducting, which results in faster throttle response and a lower turbo lag, giving peak boost faster than most air-to-air intercooler systems. For impressive engine

breathing, the Apex Concept utilizes a free flowing true dual exhaust system.

Race Bike Grapics

The livery on the Kizashi Apex Concept is based on the actual Suzuki superbike race design theme and highlights the vehicle’s bloodline connection to Suzuki’s GSX-R Superbike. For a more expressive front-end, the lower fascia wears customized LED-based foglights. The Apex Concept is shod with Yokohama S.Drive 245/35-R19 tires, featuring advanced nanotechnology micro-fiber compound to maximize traction in both wet and dry conditions. The wheels are lightweight performance alloys with a “burnt asphalt” finish to communicate this Kizashi turbo’s high level of performance. To make sure all this power is put to use in the right place, the Kizashi Apex Concept uses Suzuki’s Euro-spec high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps.

Race-inspired Interior

The Kizashi Apex Concept’s cabin receives an eye-catching treatment in black leather, with laser blue Alcantara® accents on the sport seats and steering wheel.

Press Release:

SUZUKI REVEALS KIZASHI ECOCHARGE CONCEPT
AT 2011 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

Innovative Gas-Electric Concept Leads Automaker’s U.S. Advanced Propulsion Strategy

NEW YORK (April 19, 2011) – American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) unveiled a gas-electric concept variant of its Kizashi sedan at the company’s 2011 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) press conference this evening. With the moniker Kizashi EcoCharge Concept, this innovative and eye-catching four-door further illustrates Suzuki’s global eco-mobility story, and accentuates the company’s effort in socially-conscious motoring.

“We are continuing to study the virtues of the gas-electric technology found in the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept,” said Steve Younan, director of automotive marketing and product planning for American Suzuki Motor Corporation. “Our basic concept was to attain substantial gains in fuel economy without the traditional sacrifices in drivability required with today’s mid-size hybrid sedans. The proof of our concept is that the Kizashi EcoCharge has the capability to deliver a 25 percent fuel economy gain in real-world driving through an electric charge to the powertrain system while still retaining the production Kizashi’s dynamic handling and braking advantages that make it a standout category performer.”

Kizashi Powertrain Electrification

The Kizashi EcoCharge Concept derives power from a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine, working in tandem with an advanced electric propulsion system, which consists of a liquid-cooled 15-kW motor/generator unit tied to a 115-volt air-cooled lithium-ion battery. The combination optimizes fuel economy and delivers an electric power boost during acceleration for a more spirited driving experience. The Kizashi EcoCharge Concept delivers a 25 percent lift to highway fuel economy over today’s Kizashi.

To help maximize efficiency, the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept also utilizes numerous fuel-conserving technologies, including regenerative braking, automatic engine shut-off when the car comes to a stop, fuel cut-off during deceleration events and low-rolling resistance tires.

Power management is provided via an advanced six-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth operation and a seamless flow of power when called upon by the driver.

Simple, But Striking Exterior Styling

The exterior of the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept is highlighted by a unique luminescent white satin paint design with a subtle blue undercoat. To further set the concept apart from its production Kizashi sibling, it has been given a specialized headlight treatment, as well as LED foglight illumination integrated into the front fascia. The lightweight aluminum wheels communicate a futuristic feel, and are wrapped in low-rolling resistance tires.”

Eco-friendly Interior

Within, the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept utilizes advanced seat materials. These materials require 84 percent less energy to produce, and create 80 percent fewer emissions than virgin material production.

Suzuki hoped that the new Kizashi sedan would be huge sales success for the brand and help rebuild its image in the North American market. However, things haven’t really gone Suzuki’s way. The brand is now hoping to take the model to the next level at this year’s 2011 New York Auto Show.

At the show, Suzuki plans on unveiling a special-edition version of the Kizashi. Previously, the company has unveiled a Suzuki Kizashi Turbo Concept, which was powered by a 2.4L turbocharged 290-hp engine. The Suzuki Kizashi Turbo Concept also featured a trunk-mounted spoiler, am upgraded suspension, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Besides another Suzuki Kizashi model, the brand has plans to display another model, which is being kept a secret for now.

Suzuki will launch a new ad blitz on Christmas Day in a campaign that will pit the performance of its 2011 Kizashi Sport sedan against the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C300 and the Acura TSX. Known as Kizashi Kicks, the 15-second and 30-second TV ads will show performance tests between the Kizashi and other vehicles.

According to Steve Younan, Suzuki’s director of marketing, product planning and sales training, the campaign will be the largest national advertising presence Suzuki has had in years.

Click here for more news on the Suzuki Kizashi.

“The Kizashi we developed here was designed to appeal to buyers who appreciate and desire to own entry level sport sedans … and to do so at a price that’s within reach of most buyers,” Younan said. “To get that story out has been the real challenge.”

The goal of the campaign is to boost customer awareness of the Kizashi. The demand for the Kizashi has been a bit disappointing with total sales coming in at 5,269 units through November this year.

Press Release:

Suzuki sport sedan and Road & Track’s Sam Mitani rewrite record books in Blown Gas Coupe (F-BGC) category.

WENDOVER, Utah (Aug. 18, 2010) ““ Piloting American Suzuki Motor Corporation’s (ASMC) modified 2010 Suzuki Kizashi Bonneville Special, Road & Track’s Sam Mitani injected the Kizashi into the record books (and himself in the 200 mph club) with his 203.720 mph run at this year’s Bonneville Speed Week, exceeding the previous record of 202.301 mph. Despite a multitude of records ““ and record attempts ““ achieved by Suzuki motorcycle riders, this was the first official crack at the Bonneville Salt Flats by American Suzuki’s automotive arm.

Conditions for the Kizashi’s record-setting Bonneville run were exactly as the build team, Advanced Product Engineering’s Richard Holdener, Tom Habrzyk and Scott Bailey, expected. With temperatures topping 100 degrees, the Kizashi was running at a density altitude on the flats of 6,303 feet. After passing inspection, the 2010 Kizashi provided Mitani, Road & Track’s international editor, a perfect platform for qualifying with the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA), the sanctioning club for all Bonneville records. The 203.720 mph record was achieved by calculating the average of a two-way pass at 8:40 a.m. MT on August 18, 2010.

2010 Suzuki Kizashi Bonneville Special
Beginning with interior safety and instrument modifications, the Suzuki Kizashi Bonneville Special underwent additional refinements to make it salt-ready. Once the work was completed, the team installed the SCTA-approved roll cage, an aluminum bulkhead in the rear, racing seat, seat harnesses and window net. Next, it was time to take a look under the hood. The motor was disassembled to confirm the stock measurements, while the cylinder head was flowed and ported. The Kizashi Bonneville racer benefits from a new intake manifold, a tuned ‘long tube’ header and forged rods and pistons for high rpm endurance.

With up to 16 pounds of boost from a Turbonetics turbocharger, the Kizashi’s increased horsepower required air-to-water intercooling (and snow water/methanol injection) ““ while its increased output demands a new ACT clutch and pressure plate. A scattershield is added, the oil pan is welded for a new drain fitting and a new 3.5-inch exhaust is fabricated aft of the turbocharger. Additional protection for the high-boost, high-rpm turbo motor is provided by full synthetic 5W-20 racing oil from Lucas Oil.

The Kizashi platform ““ and its Nurburgring heritage ““ is morphed into a salt-specific recipe with new coilovers, steel wheels seam welded, and speed-specific 15×7-inch Goodyear Front Runner® rubber. An air dam keeps the Kizashi’s nose planted, window straps and hood pins ensure the hood and glass stay in place, and a parachute can bring the high speed show to a controlled and shortened stop. Finally, a dual fire system provides the extra assurance so important for Mitani, with more than 500 boosted horses but only a few feet in front of his high-speed capsule.

Press Release:

BONNEVILLE KIZASHI ““ SOMETHING GREAT IS RUNNING

Bonneville Kizashi builds on Suzuki”s winning tradition.

Boosted powertrain moves sport sedan into new segment ““ Over 200 mph.

Modifications void America”s #1 Warranty.

BREA, Calif. (August 9, 2010) ““ Since its introduction to the press in July of 2009, Suzuki”s Kizashi has been recognized as a midsize sedan with a difference ““ or two. Boasting a rigid structure, composed platform, suspension tuned on the famed Nurburgring and available all-wheel drive, the Kizashi has enjoyed accolades from both media and consumers; most notably, the Kizashi ranked first in AutoPacific”s 2010 Vehicle Satisfaction survey. And with 185 horsepower from its 2.4 liter DOHC four, the 2010 Kizashi boasts class-leading power in the four-cylinder segment.

Fast forward to August 2010, and Suzuki moves the Kizashi into a category typically reserved for Bonneville streamliners. With extensive modifications supplied by Richard Holdener and Tom Habrzyk of Advanced Product Engineering and with Road & Track”s Sam Mitani behind the wheel, American Suzuki”s first-ever automotive assault on the salt begins on August 14 in Wendover, Utah. There, the Bonneville Kizashi ““ competing in the Blown Gas Coupe category ““ will rocket its way toward the 200 mph benchmark and, if successful, into Suzuki”s already remarkable motorsport history.

The Bonneville Kizashi began with a pre-production Kizashi prototype. In May 2010, construction of the Bonneville racer began with interior disassembly, underscoring Kizashi”s initial design premise. “Premium without the premium” is, suddenly, completely without the premium, reflecting a bare metal working environment intended for but one mission. Its upscale appointments removed, the Holdener/Habrzyk team installed the SCTA-approved roll cage, an aluminum bulkhead in the rear, racing seat, seat harnesses and window net.

With the cockpit modifications made, it was time to take a look under the hood and build on, with this Kizashi, the performance tradition rooted in Suzuki”s first win on Mt. Fuji some 55 years ago. The spare motor was disassembled to confirm the stock measurements, while the cylinder head was flowed and ported. The Bonneville Kizashi benefits from a new intake manifold, a tuned “˜long tube” header and ““ for high rpm durability ““ forged rods and pistons. With up to 20 pounds of boost from the Turbonetics turbocharger, the Kizashi”s increased horsepower required air-to-water intercooling (and Snow water/methanol injection) ““ while its output demands a new ACT Clutch and Pressure Plate.

An air dam keeps the Kizashi”s nose planted, window straps and hood pins ensure the hood and glass stay in place, and a parachute can bring the high speed show to an emergency stop. Finally, a dual fire system provides the extra assurance so important for Mitani, with some 900 boosted horses but only a few feet in front of his now high-speed capsule.

With the build completed at the end of July, the first week of August provides a narrow window for the chassis dyno tune and over-the-road (closed course, professional driver) testing. Then it”s on to Bonneville and the week of speed, beginning Saturday, August 14 and ending on Friday, August 20. If the week goes as planned, and the Kizashi performs as designed, the SCTA will have two new members among its 200 mph ranks: Road & Track”s Sam Mitani and the 2010 Suzuki Bonneville Kizashi.

Incentives play a huge part in the automotive sales game, as automakers tend to entice buyers into showrooms with them. Suzuki however, has put a whole new spin on the incentives game; they are actually paying people who test drive the Kizashi and then buy a competing sedan within three days. In order to claim their payment, would-be customers must show proof of purchase of a 2010 Accord, Altima, Malibu, Mazda 6, Fusion, or Camry, all with four-cylinders.

The winner of the Cars.com/USA Today/MotorWeek $25,000 Family Sedan Shootout earlier this year, the Hyundai Sonata, is not however included in the promotion. The promotion also includes $100 for shoppers who opt for the Audi A4 or Acura TSX over the Kizashi.

The offer runs through July. Those who opt to actually buy the Kizashi are by no means at a loss, as Suzuki is offering 0% financing for 48 months on the car until August . All Suzuki models are also part of a free gas promotion; Kizashi buyers will get a $290 prepaid gas card.

Suzuki has issued an order to its dealers to cease sales on the Kizashi in the United States as the company gets ready to recall 5,107 of the vehicles in the U.S. to replace the instrument panel center lower box, which the NHTSA says may open in a crash.

“The hinged door of the center lower box located in the front dashboard area fails to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 201, ‘Occupant Protection in Interior Impact,’ ” said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. “The door may open in a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle’s occupants.”

Suzuki dealers have halted delivery of the affected cars until units in dealers stock could be fixed. The recall of vehicles already on the road is expected to begin on July 9. Owners of vehicles that may have been affected should contact Suzuki at 714-996-7040.

At the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, Suzuki unveiled four tricked out 2010 Kizashi units to promote the new sedan. Suzuki is now back with racer Tommy Kendall and his Speed Channel program “Test Drive” with a modified Kizashi by Road Race Motorsports.

Known as the Suzuki Kizashi Turbo Concept, Road Race Motorsports started with a pre-production Kizashi GTS. The tuner added a 16G turbocharger, a custom fuel management system, Road Race”s Sleeper blow-off valve, Velocity air intake and Extreme spray injector. All that allows the Suzuki Kizashi Turbo Concept to make 290-hp while running on 19-inch Dunlop tires.

The modifications satisfied the needs of Road Race founder Rob Tallini, Tommy Kendall or the Suzuki enthusiast behind the wheel.

Check out the video of the Kizashi Turbo Concept in action after the jump.

Press Release:

SUZUKI”S CONCEPT TURBO KIZASHI “˜BLOWS” DOORS OFF MIDSIZE COMPETITION

Blower heightens the excitement with lowered, tuned Kizashi

BREA, Calif. (April 30, 2010) ““ After an impressive performance preview of Suzuki”s 2010 Kizashi at last fall”s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, the heightened fun (on closed course, with professional driver) continues with the debut of Kizashi”s concept turbocharged variant. As seen ““ beginning this month ““ with racer Tommy Kendall and his Speed Channel program “Test Drive,” this newest Kizashi concept morphs the intended definition of Kizashi from the Japanese ““ “something great is coming” ““ into “what might be coming next?”

In production form, the all-new Kizashi delivers a premium package and experience without the premium price tag, providing a unique blend of dynamic performance attributes and features more appropriate to the near-luxury sport sedan segment. The performance experts at Road Race Motorsports build on those performance attributes and near-luxury features with a host of mods designed to heighten the excitement factor while lowering the Kizashi”s lap times on any closed-course venue.

Road Race Motorsports, one of the chief suppliers of go-fast goods for Suzuki automotive enthusiasts, began the Suzuki turbo project with a pre-production Kizashi GTS. Boost is supplied to the stock heads and block by a 16G turbocharger, while temp is kept in check with Road Race Motorsports” own high flow intercooler. Other adds on the hardware menu include custom fuel management, Road Race”s Sleeper blow-off valve, Velocity air intake and Extreme spray injector. The equal length turbo manifold is custom crafted, while the 38mm wastegate is supplied by Tial.

The enhanced power bumps the Kizashi”s already impressive engine to 290 hp and is connected to the track pavement via 19-inch Dunlops. Those are kept connected to the course by Road Race”s own sport springs, working in combination with Kizashi”s ultra-rigid unibody and all-independent suspension. High-speed stability is enhanced with the addition of a rear-mounted spoiler supplied by Delta Tech Engineering. The end result on the track ““ with either Road Race founder Rob Tallini, Tommy Kendall or the Suzuki enthusiast behind the wheel ““ is the need for speed suddenly and fully satisfied.

Air dates for the newest edition of Speed Channel”s “Test Drive” begin on April 30, 2010. For a complete schedule, visit the Speed Channel website ““ www.speedtv.com. And for an opportunity to build ““ and enjoy ““ something similar, sport sedan enthusiasts should visit their nearest Suzuki showroom; locations can be found at www.suzuki.com.

Suzuki announced today that it is launching its nationwide “Free Gas for Summer” sales promotion. The incentive offers three months of free gasoline on retail purchases of any new 2010 Suzuki Kizashi, SX4 SportBack, SX4 Sport sedan, SX4 Crossover, Grand Vitara and Equator.

“Suzuki recognizes the economic challenges Americans continue to face and thought this promotion was a great way to provide relief for car buyers,” said Koichi Suzuki, executive vice president, American Suzuki Automotive Operations. “Working through our U.S. dealer network, we’re happy to extend this program to consumers across the country, providing potential buyers even more reason to consider purchasing a Suzuki during the summer shopping season.”

Suzuki is recognized as the second most fuel-efficient automaker in Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) with 29.7 mpg, as reported in the EPA 2009 Light-Duty Automotive Technology and Fuel Economy Trends Report,

The Suzuki “Free Gas for Summer” sales program kicks off May 1 and runs through Aug 31.

Suzuki had previously planned to offer two alternate versions of its new Kizashi sedan, a hybrid and a V6. Those plans were scrapped however, due to GM”s sale of their stake in Suzuki; the technology for these vehicles was to be borrowed from GM.

The move is a costly blow to Suzuki as a company that doesn’t offer a mid-size sedan in either a hybrid or V6 version. One option to consider is Volkswagen”s alternative-fuel engine technology, but that would be too expensive. Suzuki has dispatched a team of engineers to Germany to see what can be done as far as alternative technologies.

“We are looking at VW’s cost structure and their offerings,” said Steve Younan, director of product planning at American Suzuki Motor Corp. “We want to keep our cars reachable to mere mortals.”

Volkswagen recently purchased a 19.9 percent stake in Suzuki.

Suzuki knows that its new Kizashi midsize sedan will have a tough time competing with bigger rivals in the segment – with hopes to avoid that, Suzuki will steer half of this year’s $30 million marketing budget for the new sedan to U.S. dealers.

“The budget for a national launch just wasn’t there, and Suzuki listened to the dealer advisory board about redistributing the marketing funds,” said Scott Pitman, president of Suzuki of Wichita in Kansas.

The 2010 Suzuki Kizashi has started arriving in showrooms as the company aims to shake last year’s drop of 54 percent in U.S. sales, more than double the industry’s decline. Even 2010 started on a bad note, as Suzuki’s sales dropped 44 percent in January while the market rose 6 percent.

Many things depend on the sales of the new Kizashi sedan. The company hopes that its dealers can initially move 1,000 units a month and expand that to 2,500 within a year. If Suzuki can hit 5,000 units a month in global volume, it will consider building a hybrid or V6 variant. Also, if that happens, Suzuki will use the Kizashi platform for other vehicles such as the replacement for the XL-7 crossover.

Suzuki announced that its new 2010 Suzuki Kizashi, the company’s first entry into the all-wheel-drive sedan segment, earned the highest possible rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash tests. The 2010 Kizashi was awarded a 5-star rating in both the frontal and side-impact crash tests for all seating positions.

“The all-new Kizashi includes a class-leading list of standard safety equipment, including class-exclusive standard eight airbags and a tire pressure monitoring system,” Suzuki said in a statement. “Additionally, the 2010 Kizashi already meets some of the crash standards put in place for the year 2014, including rigorous side pole crash, side barrier crash, and European pedestrian protection standards.”

Prices for the well-equipped entry-level 2010 Kizashi S start at $18,999 for the FWD model and $21,749 for the AWD model ($19,734 and $22,484 including destination and handling charges). The 2010 Kizashi SE model starts at $21,499 and $22,749. The sporty 2010 Kizashi GTS model, available with a 6-speed manual or a CVT with paddle shifters starts at $22,499.

The new 2010 Suzuki Kizashi is ready to take U.S. dealerships by storm this month and Suzuki is so confident in its new car that it is offering prospective sport sedan buyers $100 for adding the all-new Kizashi to their consideration lists.

Known as the “Kizashi Test Drive Challenger,” the incentive is asking consumers that are considering an Audi A4 or Acura TSX to first test drive a 2010 Kizashi. Buyers who still decide to purchase either a the Audi A4 2.0T or Acura TSX (4-cylinder model) within 10 days of their comparison test drive of the all-new Kizashi will receive a $100 check or stored value debit card.

“The Kizashi was designed and engineered to offer a premium driving experience consistent with the near-luxury sport sedan segment,” said Koichi Suzuki, executive vice president of American Suzuki Automotive Operations. “With styling, performance characteristics, luxury features and a new advanced All-Wheel-Drive system on par with the Audi A4 and Acura TSX, we’re excited to extend this unique offer to consumers across the country, providing potential sport sedan buyers another reason to consider the all-new Kizashi-at a substantial savings. We’re definitely putting Kizashi’s premium without the premium moniker to the test.”

The incentive will run through Jan. 31, 2010.
