Suzuki will be holding the official North American debut of the new Kizashi mid-size sedan tomorrow; however, a certain few who have already seen the new Suzuki sedan couldn’t wait to post pictures until the embargo was lifted tomorrow.

The Kizashi name isn’t official yet, but we’ll get more details on that tomorrow. The sedan will make its auto show debut later this year at the 2009 LA Auto Show in December.

The Suzuki Kizashi 3 Concept, which the sedan is based on, carries a 300-hp 3.6L V6 engine.

It was reported earlier this year that the production version of the Suzuki Kizashi 3 sedan was going to debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show. Of course, we were pretty surprised when we didn’t see the production Kizashi 3 in New York.

According to Automotive News, Suzuki’s new sedan will debut later this fall. The production Kizashi 3 will be unveiled at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the same time dealers will get the car.

Suzuki has yet to decide on a name for the front-wheel-drive car, which is based on a General Motors platform. The Suzuki Kizashi 3 Concept carries a 300-hp 3.6L V6 engine; however, Suzuki has not decided whether to offer it in the production model.

Earlier this month it was reported by Japanese media that the production version of the Suzuki Kizashi 3 had been shelved. Following that, a spokesman for American Suzuki said that the reports were false and that the production Kizashi will be coming to the 2009 New York Auto Show. Well, hold on a second – not so fast.

According to a new report by Inside Line, a Suzuki spokesman in Tokyo says that the company is far from making any final decision on whether the Kizashi 3 project will continue as scheduled.”

Inside Line says that everything is still up in there – meaning timing and engine spec and whether or not it will actually debut in New York is still pending.

All we know is that we want to see it New York and think that a production Kizashi 3 sedan will do wonders for Suzuki – wonders that the Genesis did for Hyundai.

Reports came out yesterday saying that Suzuki has shelved plans to build a mid-sized sedan based on the Kizashi 3 Concept. Suzuki today denied the reports coming out of Japan and said that plans to release a production version of the Kizashi 3 Concept in the United States this year are on track.

“The production version will debut at this year’s New York auto show in April,” Jeff Holland, spokesman for American Suzuki Motor Corp., told Automotive News in an interview today.

He said that Suzuki will reveal all official details on the mid-sized sedan and its showroom availability in New York. Holland said that sedan is a very important addition to Suzuki’s lineup and dealers are hoping that the car will boost interest in the brand.

Suzuki Motor, one of the automakers that will not be present at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, has reportedly delayed the launch of its new mid-sized sedan that was supposed to be a production version of the ”Kizashi 3″ Concept. We’ve been hearing that the sedan would arrive in 2009 as a 2010 model year car but according to Japanese newspaper Nikkei, Suzuki has shelved plans to move ahead with production for now.

According to Automotive News, the decision comes as a sharp deterioration in the global auto market. There is no word on when Suzuki will move ahead with plans to build the Kizashi 3 based mid-size sedan, but in an interview with Reuters in September, Suzuki’s CEO Osamu Suzuki said the project is likely to be canceled due to the sluggish sales in the segment.

Suzuki was planning an entry level 2.5L 4-cylinder version of the car along with a 260-hp 3.5L DOHC 24-valve V6. The latter was said to come from GM’s V6 units found under the Cadillac CTS and Chevy Malibu. Pricing for the car was rumored to start at $21,000.
