Porsche’s famous tuning firm, RUF, has just unveiled its latest and greatest super car: the CTR3. Featuring an all-new mid-engined layout, galvanized steel body and longer wheel base, the new CTR3 is based on the most recent Cayman.

Mated to a six-speed sequential manual cog swapper, power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.8L flat-six that’s good for a whopping 740hp, up from last generations 690hp. Each of the snails under the hood are fitted with their own intercoolers. So the results for the 1400kg CTR3 are 0-60 in 3.2 seconds while 0-120 takes only 9.6 seconds with a top speed of 236mph.

Inside sits an integrated roll cage while customers can choose from a variety of interior colors and materials.

RUF has yet to release any pricing and launch dates, but we could expect the RUF CTR3 to demand a high price as the previous generation burned the wallet pretty good at £193,000 or $316,307.

In October 2008, the engineers at RUF Automobile GmbH took a 911 and converted it into their first high-performance electric sports car. A final working version of the model, know as the “Greenster,” made its debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

RUF is now back and this time it is working on the “first electrically driven SUV based on the Porsche Cayenne.” Known as the Stormster, the model is capable of producing 367-hp from a Siemens electric-motor. It can go from 0-62 mph in 10 seconds with a top speed of 93 mph. On a full charge of its lithium-ion batteries, the Stormster can travel a total of 124 miles.

The Stormster will make its first public debut during the European Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. No word on public availability of the Stormster.

Press Release:

The new eRUF Stormster

RUF introduces the first SUV with electric powertrain

RUF Automobile GmbH, located in the small Bavarian town of Pfaffenhausen, the manufacturer of high performance automobiles, introduced the first electric sports car (eRUF) from Germany in October 2008.

During the Geneva Motor Show, in March 2009, RUF presented an evolution of the first eRUF, widely known as “Greenster”. The eRUF family continues to grow with the unveiling of the “Stormster”, the very first electrically driven SUV based on the Porsche Cayenne.

The Stormster is driven by a Siemens electric motor, with 270 kW (367 bhp) as in the eRUF sports car. The total weight is 2,670 kg which makes it capable of reaching 100 km/h in only 10 seconds. The top speed is 150 km/h, being able to reach a range of 200 km at one charge.

The lithium ion accumulators are supplied by Li-Tec Battery GmbH. Li-Tec is the first manufacturer of lithium ion battery cells in Europe, designed for the automobile industry using ceramic storage technology.

Hankook developed the winter tires for the all wheel drive Stormster which is fitted to RUF classic 5 spoke lightweight wheels. Tires of size 295/30 R 22 allow the best possible road grip.

The Stormster will have its first public debut during the European Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, (COP 15), Denmark from December 7th to 18th.

RUF has upgraded its much-loved Rt 12. Adding an ‘S’ to the end of the badge means a refined biturbo boxer engine producing 685-hp with a maximum torque of 649 lb-ft. Visually the RUF 911 Turbo Rt 12 S gets LED lamps, turn signals, a discreet carbon rear spoiler, air ducts which are integrated in the widened rear fenders and exterior mirrors from the RUF CTR 3.

The new RUF Rt 12 S rides on 19-inch light alloy wheels, which provide a nice view of the ceramic brake discs of this high performance brake system.

The chassis and aerodynamic upgrades along with lowering the ride height by 50 millimeters allows the Rt 12 S to reach a top speed of an eye-watering 224 mph.

The RUF Rt 12 S can be ordered with rear-wheel or four-wheel-drive with prices starting at 255,900 Euros ($360,422).

As we told you last month, Ruf, a German tuner, was working on high-performance electric-powered Cayman, a move that would probably scare the folks at Tesla and Fisker. Well, it seems Ruf isn’t working on an electric-powered Cayman – instead they are working on an all-electric Porsche 911.

The concept is powered by three-phase electric motor that produces a total of 204-hp with a maximum torque of 479 lb-ft. Ruf says that the power quickly rips into the drive shafts during acceleration, which is kind of like dropping your car in 6th gear and pressing down in the accelerator and going. 0 to 62 mph comes in under 7 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph.

A full charge takes about 10 hours allowing a range of 155 to 180 miles.
