Porsche recently took the wraps off its 2009 Porsche 911 GT3 and the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. According to PistonHeads, Porsche could now be working on a hardcore GT2 RS designed specifically for the track. Sources close to Porsche say that the Porsche GT2 RS will be faster, lighter and more powerful.

The Porsche GT2, which produces 530-hp, is track and road friendly. The RS version will cater to those that want more power for the track. It will feature substantial weight-saving features and power increase.

How much of a power increase you ask? Sources say that output could be increased by a total of 50-hp to a total of 580-hp. It is said that only 10 examples of the Porsche GT2 RS will be build for next spring.

Garage419′s Matt Farah has previously said that his sources claim that the Nurburgring lap times of the GT-R and ZR1 were fake and that engineers at both companies had ran tuned versions of the cars using race gas. Well, now Porsche is accusing Nissan of cheating on its Nurburgring record of 7:29. Porsche claims to have ran back-to-back tests with the GT-R and said that it didn’t even come close to 25 seconds of Nissan’s claimed 7:29. It said that both, the 911 Turbo and GT2, were quicker than the GT-R.

“This wonder car with 7:29 could not have been a regular series production car,” August Achleitner, the 911 product chief for Porsche, told CARSguide. “For us, it’s not clear how this time is possible. What we can imagine with this Nissan is they used other tyres.”

Achleitner said that the time would have only been possible with the use of “semi-slick race-style tires.” He said that his team clocked the GT-R at 7:54 while the 911 Turbo came in at 7:38 and the GT2 came in at 7:34. Porsche ran all three cars on the same day, back-to-back and under the same weather conditions with road tires.
