The 2010 Audi R8 5.2 V10 FSI was a direct answer to those looking for more from the Audi R8 supercar. Powered by a 5.2L V10 producing a total of 525-hp with a maximum torque of 391 lb-ft, the R8 5.2 V10 FSI goes from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph.

Wanting more from Audi and its high-performance engineers, 23-year old industrial design student Marouane Bembli has come with his own Audi R10 concept.

“I’ve designed what I believe will be Audi’s new supercar, the R10,” Bembli said. “It features a mid-mounted V10 engine and a dry weight of 1200kg. I hope you like it!”

So – do you guys like it?

Following the Toyota FT-86 Concept, Subaru is getting ready to unveil its version of the rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. Internally known as the 086A, the Subaru version will bigger and badder than its Toyota sibling.

According to Japan’s BestCar, the production 086A will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged powerplant sending 250-hp to all four wheels. An 308-hp STI version of the rear-wheel-drive sports coupe is also rumored. Toyota’s production FT-86 is reported to produce 200-hp

Look out for the production Subaru 086A in 2011 with pricing to be a little north of the production Toyota FT-86, which is reported to be priced above $20,000. No confirmation on what Subaru plans on naming the production model.

When McLaren Automotive revealed its MP4-12C last month, it said that it is already working on a second and third car for the brand. The MP4-12C would sit between the second and third model, leaving space below and above for McLaren Automotive engineers to explore.

While we have to wait to hear or see anything official from McLaren, Matt Williams, a Conventry University graduate, is already hard at work coming up with a design study on how a successor to the McLaren F1 could look – and honestly, we like it.

Williams said that under the hood of William’s McLaren is something that rekindles the BMW/McLaren relationship with a V10 from the BMW M5/M6. Output has been upgraded through 700-hp with some modifications. While that’s not a bad choice, whatever McLaren Automotive makes will be produced in-house – including the powerplant.

Lately, we’ve been hearing a lot about a future BMW supercar known as the ‘Z10.’ The car has been confirmed for production by many BMW executives, most importantly by the automaker’s head of design, Adrian van Hooydonk.

It is reported that the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept, which debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, is virtually a study of a production Z10.

Sources say that the production Z10 could be powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo straight-6 making 450-hp and a peak torque of 350 lb-ft. Other rumors suggest a twin-turbo V6. The BMW Vision EfficientDynmaics Concept is powered by 163-hp 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and two electric motors making a total output 356-hp with a maximum torque of 590 lb-ft.

Whatever the case is, BMWBlog posted these renderings of a future BMW Sportscar Concept Study. The renderings are the work of none other than Emil Baddal, who also gave us the Porsche-branded Supercar Concept earlier this morning.

Hyundai has released official renderings of its new ix35 C-segment SUV that will replace the Tucson. The ix35 will make its debut alongside the new Santa Fe at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

The new ix35 was designed at Hyundai’s European design center in Russelsheim, Germany, and takes design cues from the ix-onic concept from the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

Both models will reach European showrooms within the six months. The ix35 will wear different badges all around the world and will still be called the Tucson when it arrives in the United States.

Press Release:

Hyundai to reveal the new European SUV range at Frankfurt Motor Show

Hyundai will strengthen its position as one of the leading brands in the European SUV sector when it presents an all-new addition to the brand’s SUV line-up at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The ix35 joins the C-segment to replace the very successful Tucson, and will receive its world premiere at the Show on the 15th September. Alongside the ix35 will be the significantly-revised Santa Fe, which benefits from a wide range of engineering and cosmetic changes to fine-tune the driving experience and make it even more competitive versus rival D-segment SUVs.

These debutants will reach showrooms during the next six months, enhancing Hyundai’s offering in the SUV sector. Throughout the decade Hyundai has regularly ranked among the top five brands for SUV sales in Europe. A strong product range and high levels of customer loyalty boosted the company’s share of the European SUV market from 5,6% in 2000 to over 18% by 2002.

Since then Hyundai has consistently demonstrated its strength in the sector, notably in the popular – and growing – C-segment. The Tucson has been a top-10 SUV in this segment since 2004, selling 63.000 units across Europe at its peak and taking over 20% of sales in the class. Its bigger brother, the Santa Fe, has reached similarly high peaks, with 62.000 sales and 16% market share, and has also placed in the segment’s top 10 every year since 2004.

“SUVs have been a cornerstone of our success for many years and have helped to raise awareness of the Hyundai brand in Europe,” says Allan Rushforth, Vice-President of Hyundai Motor Europe. “With Tucson in particular we have demonstrated our expertise in producing SUVs which not only meet consumer expectations but also help to shape the sector itself.”

Mr. Rushforth added, “Building on these strong foundations, we expect to capitalize on the growing market demand for compact SUVs with the introduction of the new ix35 – an efficient, Europe-focused model with real showroom appeal. It will join the ix55 and revised Santa Fe in a new-look range of SUVs, supporting the significant growth in market share we have achieved this year.”

The ix35 represents a major step forward for Hyundai in Europe. It is the first SUV to be conceived and engineered in Europe at the company’s Frankfurt-based design and technical centers. The newcomer embodies Hyundai’s new design language – ‘fluidic sculpture’ – and carries over much of the confident, sweeping styling of the ix-onic concept car, which starred at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

The upgrades for Santa Fe include revisions to the powertrain, steering and suspension. Mated to the recently-launched diesel engine, codenamed ‘R’, these modifications have created a balanced and refined model, well suited to on-road and off-road demands.

Further information about ix35 and the new-look Santa Fe will be announced nearer the time of the Show.

Just two days ago we saw the first spy shots of the upcoming BMW concept that is scheduled to make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
We recently heard that Lexus will be unveiling a new compact hatchback concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The 5-door hatchback concept hints at a future production Lexus that will compete with the likes of the BMW 1-Series and Audi’s A3.

The folks over at Inside Line have come up with this rendering giving us a hint as to what the concept may look like. So far, rumors have suggested that the car will be badged as “BS” or “CS’. Power is rumored to come from the hybrid drivetrain from the 2010 Lexus HS 250h, which produces a total of 187-hp from a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine.

A production version of the concept will debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.

Earlier this month, a teaser showing a new Bugatti model hit the internet creating speculation that Bugatti was getting set to release a four-seater concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show with a Bordeaux badge. It was later reported that Bugatti will not be showing the concept in Frankfurt – instead, it was said that the Bordeaux is scheduled to be shown to Bugatti’s clients and dealers around the same time as the Frankfurt show. Confused? Yeah – so are we.

As we eagerly wait for Bugatti confirm something or the other, UK’s CAR Magazine has released a rendering of the Bordeaux; however, they attempt to make life a little more difficult by calling it the Royale (a name we’ve previously seen related to a Bugatti sedan).

“It’s one of two Bugattis pencilled into the product development cycle between now and 2018,” says CAR.

Look out for the Bordeaux / Royale sometime in 2011.

What you’re looking at could be the first official photo of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing. Courtesy of German magazine AutoBild, this image is being touted as our first official look at the most extreme Benz ever built.

Even if this photo is a computer rendering, we’re guessing that the final version shouldn’t be too far off from what we’re seeing here.

So far, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will be powered by a 6.2L V8 making 563-hp with a peak torque of 479 lb-ft. The engine is mated to an E-SELECT system that controls the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission. With the help of a new “Race Start” launch control system, the SLS AMG can go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph.

Nonetheless, it is a reality and Aston Martin says that it won’t be making any mechanical changes to the base iQ model, which Toyota will provide the supercar automaker’s Gaydon facility.

The only changes Aston will add are cosmetic changes to the exterior and an upgraded interior with new technology and leather trim.

While Aston Martin only released a clay model photo of its Cygent, the folks at AutoExpress have put together a rendering of what the production version may look like.

Earlier this week, we heard rumors that Honda is working on a successor to the S2000. However, after reading that the model would be a 2+2 coupe, with no rear-wheel-drive (it will have AWD) and a hybrid system, the car started to sound less and less like a successor of the award-winning roadster and more like another car by itself.

What could Honda possibly come up with here that would give this new model the privilege of saying “I belong to the family of the S2000?” To help us answer that question, Lars Martensson (aka GRID) is back with a rendering of a Honda S2000 Coupe. Earlier this morning we saw Martensson’s amazing Subaru Impreza WRX STI concept and this S2000 study is nothing less than impressive.

Right away, you’ll notice the concept’s GT-R like face. Going around the side you’ll see some large air-vents and a rounded rear-end with the exhaust pipes embedded into the rear-bumper.

We have to say, Martensson is one talented artist.

In comes independent designer Lars Martensson, who goes by the name of ‘Grid’ around the internet. He rendered up a Subaru Impreza WRX STI concept that doesn’t seem to far off from reality as the concepts built by auto manufacturers themselves.

Martensson’s design features a couple of sharp edges and a chopped off hatchback look that makes us dream of what the Impreza WRX STI could actually look like.

Many people are not aware of the true roots of supercar manufacturer Lamborghini. The supercar company was founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini who owned a successful tractor factory called Lamborghini Trattori in the village of Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Ferruccio, who owned a Ferrari 250, ran into Enzo Ferrari at the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy where he complained about the quality of the clutch on his car. Enzo told Ferruccio that the “problem is not with the car, but rather, the driver.” He said that Ferruccio should leave the sports car business to others and look after his tractors.

Angered and resentful, Ferruccio headed home and discovered that the transmission of his Ferrari 250 was built by the same company that built the transmission used in his Lamborghini tractors. Ferruccio eventually called upon some talented men who built Ferruccio’s dream GT to rival Ferrari. They eventually ended up producing the GTV prototype and later produced Lamborghini’s world debut with the 350GT.

Enough with all that history. Designer Jason Battersby has released his latest creation that pays homage to Lamborghini’s tractor legacy with the Lamborghini Toro study.

Our favorite automotive artist, Jon Sibal, has come up with a rendering of a tuning package for the 2010 Porsche Panamera inspired by TechArt, a German tuning firm that focuses on Porsche vehicles.

The front bumper of this Panamera is inspired by the TechArt GT Street R line for the Porsche 911 turbo while the side skirts are Sibal’s own design. Sibal also added chrome trims to the headlight surrounds with blacked out window trims and carbon fiber mirror housings.

Sibal says he contacted TechArt who loved his work and said it was very similar to what they had come up with in house.

It was reported in June of last year that Alfa Romeo is working on a soft-top convertible version of the MiTo due for launch in 18 months. According to that we should see the convertible MiTo right before 2009 ends. The MiTo convertible is expected to get the same engine lineup as its hatchback sibling.

Of course, a MiTo GTA Cabriolet should scare the shoes off of the Mini Cooper S. But we’ll let that remain a dream for now.

Well, here is one from Jon Sibal who has brought us many exciting photo renderings over the years.

The 2010 BMW 5-Series is expected to be offered with a choice of a 272-hp naturally aspirated engine and an updated 326-hp 3.0L twin-turbo 6-cylinder in the United States. Europeans will get a choice of a 286-hp twin-turbo 3.0L 6-cylinder common-rail diesel.

We saw the first official Aston Martin Rapide renderings last month. Today Aston Martin has dropped another round of official Rapide renderings along with some new details.

According to AutoCar, the Aston Martin Rapide is based on a stretched DB9 wheelbase (by 255mm), making the car 5 meters long – giving it enough room to compete with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Despite the sloping roofline, the Rapide sits 63mm higher than the DB9 allowing more than enough headroom for the rear-passengers.

Weighing in at 1,940kg, the Rapide will be powered by a 6.0L V12 that produces 480-hp. Mated to a 6-speed automatic with Aston’s Touchtronic paddle shifting, the Rapide will run from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 180 mph.

Sales of the 2010 Aston Martin Rapide will in fall of 2009.
