What you’re looking at here is the first unofficial artist rendering of what a convertible Subaru BRZ could look like.

Toyota and Subaru both unveiled their rear-wheel-drive sports coupe (the GT 86 and BRZ GT, respectively) at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show this past week. Scion also released its version, known as the FR-S, which will go on sale in the United States next year.

Neither Subaru or Toyota have confirmed a convertible version of their sports cars.

Refresher: Weighing in at just 2,689 pounds, the Subaru BRZ is powered a 2.0 liter 4-clyinder boxer engine making 197-hp at 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 151 lb-ft at 6,600 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Here is a photo rendering of what the next-generation BMW M6 could look like and we’re guessing it’s pretty close to the real thing.

Power for the 2013 BMW M6 is likely to come from the same engine as the M5 –  a 4.4L V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo making 560-hp between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 502 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm. It will also be mated to the company’s  7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission Drivelogic.

Rumors suggest that the new BMW M6 may even push closer to 600-hp – but we doubt that will happen.

Like the current model, the next-generation BMW M3 will be offered in at least three body variants including a sedan, coupe and convertible. While design changes are inevitable, changes under the hood will be the most major change.

Sources suggest that the next BMW M3 will drop its V8 engine for a twin-turbo V6 unit developing somewhere north of 420-hp.

It’s been less then a week since the 2012 BMW 3 Series made its world debut and already photo rendering artists are dreaming of the next-generation BMW M3 Sedan.

The BMW M3 Sedan, when it made its comeback with the last generation model, became one of our favorite M3 models ever. However, it’s been previously reported that BMW is thinking against even doing a sedan M3 variant with the new generation model.

The 2012 BMW 3 Series sedan will be followed by the coupe and convertible models in 2013. The BMW M3 Coupe will follow in 2014 and that in turn will be followed by the M3 Sedan – that is if BMW has made up its mind.

That allows 0 to 60 mph to come in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph (155 mph with Sport Line package). Power for the 2012 BMW 335i comes from the same N55 3.0 liter 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine making 300-hp at 5,800 rpm with a maximum torque of 300 lb-ft between 1,200 rpm and 5,000 rpm. 0 to 60 mph comes in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph (and 155 mph with Sport Line package).

Dan Buzdugan of PS-Garage has dropped a rendering of what the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series could look like.

Power for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster will most likely come from the same 6.3L V8 front-mid engine in the ‘base’ SLS AMG. While that engine produced 563-hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, the Black Series SLS AMG may get some extra power and tighter handling.

It’s been recently rumored that Porsche will be introducing a new front-engined V8-powered sports car to succeed the original 928 from the 1980s. However, we haven’t received any official photos as to what the new internally dubbed “929” would look like, which is why a student from the Royal College of Art has created her own rendition of what the new 929 could look like.

Julliana Cho took inspiration from the recent 918 Spyder Concept and applied it to her 929 envisioning. It features a very sleek and aerodynamic body complete with LED headlights, rearward-opening scissor doors and much more.

Also integrated into the design are unique side scoops, partially covered wheels and a rear end that looks very similar to BMW’s Vision EfficientDynamics concept.

What does the designer of Pagani Automobili do during his spare time? Draws up his vision of a brand-agnostic electric sports car called the Electrodinamycs Concept.

Antonio Bruno, the designer of the famous Pagani Huayra, has put together an electric supercar that proposes the idea of having four inboard-mounted permanent-magnet electric motors connected to the wheels by drive shafts.

If that’s not enough information for you, we have to apologize here since Antonio didn’t give anymore details about the car. We’re guessing he’s just having some fun.

Ever since the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class revolutionized the automobile industry with its ground breaking design, other companies have capitalized on their success by adapting their own versions with great results. Some include the Volkswagen Passat CC, the new Audi A7, even the new Hyundai Sonata.

And while the “four-door” coupe design has been around for some time, BMW might’ve just jumped on board according some rumors. Some renderings were found that resembled much of the Gran Coupe concept that debuted at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show and it is established that the car’s production is under way. The car in the pictures seem fairly straight forward: it looks like an elongated and more streamlined F10 5er with the nose of a F12/F13 6er.

I absolutely love nearly every current example of a four-door coupe because the proportions often make the cars that much more interesting. And since the Gran Turismo 5er is struggling heavy under sales, this new Gran Coupe doesn’t seem like such a bad idea since these four-door coupes are the one of the new trendy “things” today. I’m not complaining. Not to mention, it shouldn’t rack up too much of a bill for the Munich make because it could share platforms and engines as well as other parts with other cars. And with the CLS63 and the Audi S7 on the way…can we see a CLS63, Audi introduce an RS7, and have BMW make an M Gran Coupe and see them duke it out? Keep it coming Bimmer.

The BMW Gran Coupe is reported to enter production sometime next year.

Spies recently caught Toyota and Subaru’s upcoming FT-86 (which will come to the United States as the Scion FR-S) hanging around the Nurburgring, undergoing some final testing.

The model will be undergoing some high-speed testing at the Nurburgring track to test how potent Subaru’s 200-hp 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo boxer engine is.

As you can see in the video here, the Toyota FT-86 / Scion FR-S is in its final stages of development, judging by the extensive disguise applied this prototype.

Our favorite concept t0 debut at the 2011 New York Auto Show last month has to be the new Scion FR-S Concept.

The Scion version of rear-wheel-drive Toyota’s FT-86 Coupe will be coming to the United States next year and will be powered by a flat 2.0-liter boxer engine in at the front making somewhere close to 200-hp.

At its debut in New York, the Scion FR-S Concept was displayed in a brilliant red exterior. That got us thinking which colors we can expect the production Scion FR-S to be available in when it hits dealers? Well, we were bored this past weekend and decided to match the color palette of the 2011 Scion tC to the Scion FR-S.

At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai unveiled the new Hyundai i40 station wagon. The Korean automaker is now teasing the i40 sedan with computer generated rendering, which it plans on showing at the 2011 Barcelona Motor Show next Thursday.

Hyundai says that the new i40 sedan is very European since it was designed at the automaker’s European headquarters in Russelsheim, German.

The new model will compete with the likes of the Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Passat and others.

The Hyundai i40 will go on sale later this year – joining the i40 station wagon.

Mystery still surrounds BMW’s plans to make a compact all-electric car that was dubbed the i3. Sketches, illustrations, preliminary info and spy photos exist all over the Internets, but no official renditions yet from the HQ in Munich. So we commissioned our rendering artist Christian Schulte in Munich to come up with a rendition of what the i3 could look like from recent spy videos and details BMW has released.

So far, it looks like something along the lines of a Scion xD, only slightly sportier. Of course, still in the unknown are particulars with the headlights but you can always expect kidney grills in usual BMW signature tradition.

BMW confirmed that the i3 will be rear-wheel drive and the electric motor will be mounted on the rear axle to assist with driving dynamics. The BMW i3 is speculated to be powered by a 35 kWh lithium-ion battery, which will fuel a 150-hp electric-motor that will turn the rear-wheels. On a full charge, the BMW i3 is expected to allow a driving range of 100 miles with a top speed of 95 mph. The electric motor will also be accompanied by a range-extending internal-combustion engine of some sort.

The i3 however is still two years away from being production ready. Either way, BMW will definitely make eco-friendly cars more interesting.

Inspired by BMW’s April Fools joke of the M3 Pickup, a reader over at CarScoop decided to do his own rendering version of a high-performance pickup based on the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe.

Makes us think what if high-performance pickups actually became a competing segment?

Mated standard to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. The AMG Development Package allows the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe to produce 481-hp. That allows it to improve 0 to 60 mph acceleration to 4.3 seconds with a top speed increased to 174 mph.

Photo Rendering: Buick Regal GS Convertible

The Buick Regal has become a very successful model for the brand and General Motors as a whole. So much so that demand for the Regal in the United States was outstripping inventory when it first launched last year. Currently, the 2011 Buick Regal is available only as a sedan, but what else does GM have up its sleeve?

During a press briefing last year, Buick Product Marketing Director Roger McCormack said that Buick was ‘strongly considering’ a coupe model for the Buick lineup. Well, that’s all fine and dandy, we’d like to have some fun in the sun.

When asked about the convertible, McCormack said: “We are always looking for ways to excite our customers…I think a convertible would do just that. Nothing to announce today but know we will look hard at a convertible option.”

That was almost a year ago. According to our sources, designers have already sketched up a Buick Regal convertible and are looking to get the model approved by the higher-ups. If approved, the model will get the same engine lineup as the sedan with a 182-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder and a 220-hp 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged. Also, insiders suggest Buick will most likely opt for a soft-top over a hard-top convertible Regal.

Will we see a Buick Regal GS Convertible? While we’re showing you how it would look in our rendering here – let’s not get too greedy just yet.

Here is some exciting news for all of you Volkswagen Golf fans – the seventh-generation model is in the works and is scheduled to arrive at the “end of 2012 or early 2013,” according to a V-Dub spokesman.

According to Reuters, the spokesman was responding to an earlier report by Automobilwoche that said a person close to VW’s CEO said that the Golf model would arrive in showrooms in November 2012.

While we have little details on the new Golf, it is reported that the Volkswagen Golf MK VII will be the first Volkswagen model to be built on a new cost-saving modular transverse platform known internally as ‘MQB.’ Volkswagen expects to save in the double-digit percentage range thanks to a new production process that is different from the previous vehicle platform. Now we’re not sure if that will drive down the price of the new Golf, but it would be nice.

The MQB platform will eventually be used to build some 3 million vehicles by Volkswagen Group every year.

We’re just a couple days away from the official debut of the highly-anticipated BMW 1-Series M Coupe. Originally, BMW decided to build just a limited 2,700 units of the 1-Series M Coupe, however, due to the positive response, BMW has lifted the cap and will continue to produce the car through Spring of 2012.

Usually, BMW creates a special-edition version at the end of the life cycle to send off the outgoing model – think something like the BMW M3 CSL, M3 GTS types.

So what will BMW do with the 1-Series M Coupe. Photo Rendering artist Jon Sibal decided to find out.

When asked if there is a possibility of a ‘CSL’ type version for the 1-Series M Coupe at the end of its life cycle, BMW said.

Anything is possible, we have ideas and the creativity to expand. In the end it all comes down to the reception of the car. 1M is more personal than any other M car. It has to be more upfront with the customer because it is developed entirely for the customer who want something pure. As it stands E82 production will be online till summer 2012, 1M will finish around the Spring, We have Cabrio production lasting till late 2012 in which they have produced a Cabrio model. We have a Cabrio unofficially. Reaction to the Coupe will determine the Cabrio’s existence as will the GTS/CSL type car.

Refresher: Power for the BMW 1-Series M Coupe will come from a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder bi turbo engine delivering 340-hp. Power is transferred exclusively via a 6-speed manual gearbox. There will also be many similarities to the chassis, brakes, and rear differential of the BMW M3. Production is expected to be limited 2,700 units.

2012 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Rendering by Jon Sibal

As reported earlier this month, the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet will be making a return after disappearing in 2002. As confirmed by Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn, the Golf Cabriolet will return in 2011 and will share some components with the Audi A3 Cabriolet, since both cars are built on the Golf platform.

Since we have no idea what the Golf Cabriolet will look like, photo rendering artist Jon Sibal has taken a crack at it.
