Nissan’s NV vans, the company’s first entry into the commercial vehicle segment in North America, will be taken a step further at the 2011 LA Auto Show. The company has teamed up with The Grilled Cheese Truck and Coolhaus Truck to combine their takes on two food classics with a pair of custom-outfitted Nissan NV vans.

The two vans will be put to work on the streets of LA and inside the Convention Center’s West Hall where they will be providing sandwiches (cheese and ice cream respectively) to media attending the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Nissan NV food truck concepts come with custom fold-out serving windows, work counters and full exterior graphics.

“Since its introduction last spring, the Nissan NV van is proving itself in a wide range of commercial uses, from construction to delivery services, in both Standard Roof and High Roof body styles,” said Joe Castelli, vice president, Commercial Vehicles and Fleet, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). “The Nissan NV High Roof model is especially adaptable for food truck and catering use thanks to its 76.9-inch tall interior, which provides the flexibility for the mobile chefs to comfortably move around inside while creating their gastronomical delights.”

The Nissan NV truck is offered in three well-equipped models including NV1500, NV2500 HD, NV3500 HD. All are available with either a 4.0-liter V6 or 5.6-liter V8.

NISSAN PARTNERS WITH ORIGINAL WRAPS, INC. FOR GRAPHIC PERSONALIZATION OF NEW NV COMMERCIAL VAN

With the launch of the all-new 2012 Nissan NV commercial van just months away, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) has announced a partnership agreement with Original Wraps, Inc., Lakewood, CO, to provide vehicle graphics personalization technology to Nissan NV customers.

Original Wraps is developing a software application, which will allow all NV customers the ability to create their own design, utilizing their own logos or using the many assets on the site to get started. The application will be available through the Nissan Commercial Vehicle website, www.nissancommercialvehicles.com, in January 2011. The NV graphics are professionally installed, yet removable and safe for the vehicle’s exterior. The graphics are printed on professional, automotive grade 3M Scotchprint On-Demand vinyl and laminated for protection and fade resistance. All graphics are professionally designed and are completely unique for every business. Delivery usually takes between 7 – 10 days, with professional graphic installers available in markets where Nissan Commercial Vehicles are sold. Original Wraps, Inc. also offers graphics for the Nissan cube® and Nissan JUKE.

The 2012 NV, the company’s first entry into the commercial vehicle market in the United States, has been designed and conceived as a solution to the needs of today’s commercial van customers. It is scheduled to go on sale through a select network of Nissan Commercial Vehicle dealers nationwide beginning in spring 2011.

The NV lineup offers durable body-on-frame construction and choice of standard roof or industry-exclusive high roof configurations. Models include the NV1500 with standard 4.0-liter V6 engine, the NV2500 HD with a choice of 4.0-liter V6 or 5.6-liter V8 and the NV3500 HD with standard 5.6-liter V8. All 2012 NV models are equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The NV is available in two grades, S and SV, each delivering smart functionality through a combination of the comfort and roominess of a pickup with the utility of a cargo van. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price* (MSRP) for the 2012 Nissan NV starts at $24,590. Full information on the complete NV lineup is available at nissancommercialvehicles.com.

Nissan’s new NV2500 concept hints at what Nissan’s first commercial-vehicle market will look like when it enters the North American market in 2010. According to Motor Trend, production will take place at Nissan’s Canton Mississippi plant where the Quest minivan and Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs are built.

Sources say that the three vehicles are likely to be phased out when the NV2500 enters production for the 2011 model year. No confirmation has been made by Nissan as of yet, but it is unclear whether Nissan will move the models to another facility, replace them with Japanese models or phase them out altogether.

All three vehicles have taken a major hit this year. November sales of the Armada SUV dropped 70.5 percent in November – down 49.1 percent so far this year. The Infiniti QX56 was down 53.3 percent in November and down 33.6 percent in 2008. Quest is doing the worst out of all three models down 81.3 percent in November and down 33.3 percent this year.

Oh my - What is that hideousness you see above? It’s the Nissan NV2500 Concept that will make its debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show in January next year.

No details on the NV2500 have been revealed as of yet but Nisan says that the concept is a preview to the company’s entry into the North American Commercial Vehicle market in 2010. The vehicle is designed to be a multi-purpose utility solution for the real world.

Let’s just say it’s not designed to do anything in our world here at eGMCarTech.
