Sketches of three never-before-seen MG vehicles have hit the internet. The sketches show three vehicles that were being developed in 2005 and show a new coupe, redesigned Midget and a new TF Roadster.

Automotive designer Lee Mitchell, who created the three vehicles, said that all models were meant to use the next-generation TF architecture and an updated engine making between 120-180-hp.

Mitchell said that the biggest problem with the cars were the same driving position in the TF would have to be used on the two other vehicles along with financing. He said all three vehicles were to be conceived on the idea of an aluminum-tub.

“For relatively little investment, we would have had an amazing mid-engined platform that cured the packaging problems,” Mitchell said. “There was every intention to take the brand back to the US as MG Rover really needed to find new markets for its products. If new investment comes through, there is no guarantee MG would return to North America.”

Mitchell said he felt that MG was on the way to make history and its “a pity it never came to fruition.”

MG Motor has unveiled its brand new MG6, the first car from the company since the launch of the MGF sports car. The model made its debut at the Guangzhou Auto show in China with sales to begin in the country in January 2010. The MG6 will be released to other markets, including the UK, in the later part of 2010.

There is no word on the technical specs yet, but speculation has it that power will come from a 1.8L 4-cylinder making 133-hp and a peak torque 135 lb-ft. A turbocharged version will produce 160-hp and a maximum torque of 158 lb-ft.

The new MG6 will enter production next month at a new MG plant in Lingang, China.

International launch of all new MG

MG Motor is proud to announce today, the international launch of the MG6, the first all new MG motor car since the launch of the MGF sports car.

The launch takes place at the Guangzhou Auto show in China and is the beginning of an exciting new global future for the MG brand. The launch in China, the world’s largest automotive market begins the international roll out of sales of MG6 which includes the UK. Sales in China will begin in January and plans for the UK and other markets will be released during 2010.

It was also announced today that production of MG6 for the China market will begin at the brand new state of the art factory in Lingang, China in December 2009. It is also planned to commence production of MG6 at the Birmingham plant in the UK before the end of 2010.

The world famous MG brand has never had such a bright future as it starts to expand global sales with an exciting new range of products.

MG Motor, a subsidiary of Shanghai Auto, has announced that it will be expanding its TF Roadster series with the addition of two new variants for UK consumers. The two models include the entry-level MG TF 135 and the limited-edition MG TF 85th Anniversary.

The MG Motor TF 135 will hit showrooms shortly with a starting price-tag of $20,400 followed by the MG TF 85th Anniversary Edition, which starts at $23,700.

The TG 85th Anniversary Edition celebrates the brands 85th year and features three limited color choices, alloy wheels, Clarion ICE audio and leather trim. MG Motor is also offering a tuning package with Bilstein shocks, Eibach stabilizer bars and Rimstock wheels.
