German tuning firm Brabus, famous for their decked-out lineup of Mercedes-Benzes, has just teased a new car to the public, just short of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut in September.

From just the visible details alone, it appears to be a C-Class. Maybe it could be a wicked version of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series? Who knows. Either way, we’ll definitely find out come the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

I was recently in Stuttgart, Germany visiting Mercedes-Benz and too the new SLS AMG Gullwing for a spin around the track. Besides its blistering fast acceleration and road-hugging handing, the sounds that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG makes are just downright scary. It’s almost like a real beast trying to scare the crap out of you.

Benz engineers took the same approach when extracting the sound out of the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series.While we have no actual video of the new AMG model in action, the guys at Road&Track managed to grab some sounds of the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series revving its engine.

Be warned, the following video does not contain any burnouts or drifts – it’s just one of the scariest sounds you’ve probably ever heard from a car.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the much anticipated Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series, which is making its debut today and tomorrow at the Formula 1 race on the Nurburgring. The most powerful C-Class ever produced gets the Black Series treatment with insane amounts of power, a track-focued chassis and aggressive sporty styling.

The engine gets forged pistons, conrods and crankshaft, a new engine control unit and a 50 percent bigger oil cooler. It is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with four ESP control settings and can go throw the cogs in 100 milliseconds in the sportiest Sport Plus and Manual modes. The run from 0 to 60 mph comes in just 4.2 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz added a limited slip differential to the rear axle to improve the traction of the C63 AMG and added a stiffer anti-roll bars while upgraded the suspension with numerous setting options. Stopping power comes from giant 390mm front discs with 6-piston calipers, and 360mm discs at the rear with 4-piston calipers.

On the inside, two seats are standard but buyers can get an optional rear-bench with individual seats. While the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series is aggressive looking as is with wider tracks, it will be the Black Series model to get an optional Track Package and an AMG Aerodynamic Package.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series will go on sale in January 2012 with prices starting at 115,430 euros ($165,716 USD). Mercedes-Benz says that the U.S. market launch will follow in early 2012 with prices to be announced closer to launch date.

AMG, the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz Cars, is once again demonstrating its expertise when it comes to designing and developing emotionally appealing high-performance cars.

Arrow-shaped front section with large cooling air openings

It doesn’t matter from which angle you’re looking at it: the new C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series displays its ties with motorsport from every perspective. The arrow-shaped front section with the central Mercedes star in the radiator grille is the visual synonym for its unfettered forwards thrust. The air intakes in the striking front apron ensure reliable air flow through the large cooling modules. Two openings in the aluminium bonnet support the expelling of engine heat, whilst the struts positioned at an angle in the front apron emphasise the vehicle’s width. The black front splitter located at the lower end helps to balance the vehicle aerodynamically.

The expressive design continues in the side view: the newly developed front axle with a greater track width calls for new wings, which have been widened by 28 millimetres on each side. “6.3” logos give a nod to the sheer power of the large-displacement eight-cylinder high-speed naturally aspirated engine beneath the bonnet. Air outlets intimated behind the wheel cut-outs call to mind powerful racing cars. The onlooker discovers a black strip on the restyled AMG side skirts – a look which continues the idea of the front splitter. On each side the rear wings have also been widened by 42 millimetres, due to the greater track width of the rear axle. Air openings are hinted at in front of the rear wheels, forming a fitting conclusion.

AMG light-alloy wheels featuring light forging technology

255/35 R 19 and 285/30 R 19 – these are the impressive wheel formats for the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series at its market launch. The wheel/tyre combination is mounted on 9 x 19 (front) and 9.5 x 19 (rear) AMG light-alloy wheels, fills out the wings to stunning effect and plays a significant part in the dynamic appearance of this new AMG sports car.

Painted titanium grey, the high-sheen light-alloy wheels are produced using particularly light forging technology – as is the case on the SLS AMG. These forged wheels weigh a total of eleven kilograms less than comparable wheels with a conventional design. The lower weight results in reduced unsprung masses, which improves both the suspension’s response and the steering precision.

Broad effect of the tail end with a diffuser insert

The tail end of the Black Series coupé is also a feast for the eyes: the new rear apron with its expressive black diffuser insert creates a broad effect. Just like on the SLS AMG GT3, it protrudes beyond the profile of the rear apron. The black grille on the upper end of the diffuser insert is an eye-catching feature, as is the AMG sports exhaust system: both of the chromed twin tailpipes integrated into the rear apron have an angular cross-section. The spoiler lip on the boot lid is painted in the vehicle colour and reduces lift at the rear axle, resulting in more driving stability at high speeds. The AMG logo with its discreet “Black Series” lettering is reserved exclusively for the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series.

Engine with high-tech components from the gull-wing model

A displacement of 6.3 litres, a maximum output of 380 kW (517 hp) and a torque of 620 newton metres from eight cylinders – one glance at the technical data and it’s clear that the engineering behind the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is every bit the equal of its sensational appearance. The high-torque M156 naturally aspirated engine was specially refined for the new two-door model, whose forged pistons, connecting rods and the crankshaft with a lightweight design, for example, all come courtesy of the SLS AMG. These measures are flanked by a new engine control unit. As the car’s performance proves, the uprated V8 engine has an easy time of it in the coupé: the sprint from standing to 100 is over in 4.2* seconds (* preliminary data).

Plenty of pulling power, an agile response and hefty torque – the qualities of the large-displacement AMG high-speed naturally aspirated engine arouse unadulterated passion in the driver. The jewel in the crown is the emotive, hallmark AMG eight-cylinder sound from the AMG sports exhaust system.

The optimised engine oil cooling ensures more performance even when the vehicle is put through its paces in harsh race-track conditions. With the aid of components from the SLS AMG, the AMG experts have managed to give the oil cooler a cooling surface which is 50 percent larger. The tried-and-trusted, innovative AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission takes care of power transmission. Four transmission modes, the double-declutching function and RACE START promise maximum motoring pleasure and a high degree of variability. In the “Sport plus” and “Manual” transmission modes the gear changes take a mere 100 milliseconds.

AMG coil-over sports suspension with an AMG rear axle differential lock

The AMG sports suspension is a sophisticated new development. It has been designed as a coil-over suspension, as is the norm in motorsport – and it represents a hallmark feature of a Black Series model. It offers numerous setting options, and allows the driver to create their own personal set-up. The track width of the axles has been widened by 40 (at the front) and 79 millimetres (at the rear) respectively. In conjunction with the modified torsion-bar stabilisers, the C 63 AMG Black Series impresses with its pronounced driving dynamics, high grip and low roll angle. The AMG speed-sensitive sports steering facilitates superb vehicle control: the retuned map control for the power assistance ensures optimum steering precision.

The standard-specification AMG rear axle differential lock is responsible for reliable traction in particular for race-track applications. The 3-stage ESP® offers the ideal solution for all driving situations: via the ESP® button the driver can choose from the “ESP ON”, “Sport Handling Mode” and “ESP OFF” stages. In view of the increased driving dynamics, not only has the anti-lock braking system been completely retuned; the AMG high-performance braking system has also been redeveloped: a larger braking system is now used, with discs featuring compound technology proven in motorsport at the front axle (format: 390 x 36 millimetres) and integral discs at the rear axle (360 x 26 mm). Red-painted six-piston fixed callipers at the front and four-piston fixed callipers at the rear reliably decelerate the perforated, fade-resistant brake discs, which are ventilated all round.

Interior with a functional motor-racing atmosphere

The captivating high-tech components and the spectacular exterior design both find their logical continuation in the interior of the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series, which is black with red highlight elements, displaying the functional atmosphere of a true racing vehicle, whilst at the same time positively glowing with high quality and lovingly crafted details. Two AMG sports bucket seats facilitate the best levels of lateral support and thus optimum vehicle control on the race track. The black DINAMICA microfibre upholstery on the centre panels of the seats and doors is a new type of synthetic fibre which is characterised by its high lightfastness. The omission of the rear bench seat underlines the vehicle’s sporty character and reduces its weight. As an option the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is also available as a four-seater including the AMG sports seats familiar from the C 63 AMG Coupé – and with single seats in the rear.

The AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfibre with a steering wheel rim featuring flattened top and bottom sections has aluminium shift paddles for manual gear changes. Red seat belts and red contrasting topstitching on the steering wheel, on the seats, door centre panels, armrests on the doors, the centre console and on the shift lever gaiter add some interesting highlights. An exclusive “Black Series” logo adorns the trim on the dashboard, which sports a high-gloss black piano-lacquer look. The dashboard with three autonomous round dials has a three-dimensional TFT colour display. On opening the vehicle door the driver is greeted by AMG lettering. Possible displays for the engine oil temperature, the ESP® mode or the gear selection are integrated into the AMG main menu. The rotary switch for the C, S, S+ and M transmission modes and RACE START is located on the centre console next to the selector lever with a DINAMICA microfibre cover.

The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is proof positive that high driving dynamics and excellent active and passive safety need not necessarily be mutually exclusive: five airbags, belt tensioners and belt-force limiters for all seats are part of the standard specification, as are the anti-lock braking system ABS, the 3-stage ESP®, Headlamp Assist, the tyre pressure loss warning system and cruise control with SPEEDTRONIC variable speed limiter.

The standard specification also includes (selection):

• AMG door sills in stainless steel, brushed, with AMG logo
• AMG sports pedals in brushed stainless steel, with rubber studs
• Audio 20 CD radio with double tuner, colour display, Bluetooth® interface, hands-free function, USB interface and eight loudspeakers

AMG Track Package and AMG Aerodynamics package

AMG has two special packages to offer for enhancing driving dynamics even further: the AMG Track Package comprises 255/35 R 19 front and 285/30 R 19 rear sports tyres from Dunlop. They have been exclusively developed for the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series, and they tangibly and measurably increase grip. Active rear-axle transmission cooling improves performance in punishing race-track conditions. The radiator is located in the rear apron and the airflow passes through it effectively.

What are known as flics are part of the AMG Aerodynamics package. They are made of genuine carbon fibre and located on the front apron. Also included in the package are a functionally tuned front splitter made of genuine carbon fibre and a fixed carbon-fibre rear aerofoil with an adjustable blade. Both components not only increase the lift at the front and rear axle; they also optimise the vehicle’s aerodynamic balance.

Other optional extras include:

• AMG Exterior Carbon-Fibre package (cross strut in front apron, exterior mirror housing, inserts on the side sill panel, diffuser insert and spoiler lip in genuine carbon fibre)

Four captivating Black Series models since 2006

Whilst its driving dynamics are totally suited to the race track, the new C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series offers all the properties which characterise a true Mercedes-Benz: suitability for everyday use, durability, safety and quality.

The most powerful C-Class of all time is the fourth Black Series model to be launched since 2006. The first one was the SLK 55 AMG Black Series. The AMG 5.5-litre V8 engine in the decidedly puristic two-seater enticed customers with its maximum output of 294 kW (400 hp) and a torque of 520 newton metres, and between July 2006 and April 2007 120 units were produced. The CLK 63 AMG Black Series followed directly in its footsteps. The two-seater coupé was powered by an AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine with 373 kW (507 hp) and a torque of 630 newton metres. Between April 2007 and March 2008 700 vehicles were made.

The highlight up until now was the SL 65 AMG Black Series, which was unveiled in July 2008: the high-performance coupé still captivates drivers today with its spectacular appearance, unique performance data, systematic lightweight construction and exclusivity of the highest calibre. The AMG 6.0 litre V12 biturbo engine with a maximum output of 493 kW (670 hp) and torque of 1000 newton metres made the SL 65 AMG Black Series the most powerful AMG vehicle ever to enter series production. In total there were 350 units built from September 2008 to August 2009.

The C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series is celebrating its world premiere during the Formula 1 race on the Nürburgring, the German Grand Prix (23 – 24 July 2011). The market launch will follow in January 2012, and its sales price is 115,430 euros (incl. 19% VAT).

What you’re looking at here are the first leaked images of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe. The pictures were taken during a test event at Circuit Paul Ricard in one of the garages.

Unfortunately, the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe won’t be as aggressive as the CLK 63 AMG Black Series it’s replacing. Instead, the new model will have 4 seats, will weight only 44 pounds less than the C-Class Coupe and will be configured more as an everyday driver.

Power will come from a 6.2L V8 unit making 510-hp, which is just 30-hp more than the C63 AMG with an AMG Performance Package. The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe will be mated to a 7-speed ‘Speedshift’ MCT automatic transmission with a limited slip differential.

0 to 62 mph is expected to take around 4 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz has announced that the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG has been chosen as the Safety Car for the 2011 DTM season.The new C63 AMG Safety Car will be making its debut on May 1, 2011 at the opening race of the German Touring Car Masters season at the Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg.

Mercedes-Benz said that the C63 AMG had to be slightly modified for the DTM Safety Car Task, with changes made by the specialists in the AMG Overall Vehicle Development department and the AMG Performance Studio.

Power for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG comes from 6.3L V8 engine making 451-hp, which can be increased to 481-hp with the optional AMG Development Package.

AMG has been providing the Safety Car ever since the new ‘DTM’ inception in 2000 along with Audi. However, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG has held on to being the DTM Safety Car since its launch in 2008.

High-performance saloon developing 358 kW (487 hp) with MCT sports transmission: C 63 AMG is Safety Car for 2011 DTM season

Affalterbach – The new C 63 AMG is being used as the Safety Car for the 2011 DTM season. Following the DTM presentation in Wiesbaden on 10 April 2011, the new Safety Car will make its debut on 1 May 2011 at the opening race of the German Touring Car Masters season at the Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg. The V8 Sports Saloon only had to be modified slightly for its demanding DTM task. Responsibility for development and production of the C 63 AMG Safety Car was entrusted to the specialists in the AMG Overall Vehicle Development department and the AMG Performance Studio.

Decisions regarding the deployment of the Safety Car are taken by the Deutsche Motorsportbund (DMSB) – German motor racing’s governing body – which assumes responsibility for safety implementation and compliance as well as performing official sports functions in accordance with the DTM regulations. Piloted by racing driver Jürgen Kastenholz (43), the C 63 AMG Safety Car has the job of ensuring maximum safety for the racing drivers and spectators in the event of dangerous situations such as extreme weather conditions, accidents or other incidents. When radioed by Race Control, the Safety Car positions itself at the head of the DTM field and leads the cars around the circuit until normal racing can be resumed.

The new C 63 AMG being used for the 2011 DTM season scales new heights in terms of design and technology: the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine has an exceptionally high output of 358 kW (487 hp) and a peak torque of 600 Nm. The increase in output versus the standard 336 kW (457 hp) engine is due to the AMG Performance Package, which is optionally available for any C 63 AMG model and enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds (Estate 4.4 seconds). For the AMG Performance Package the engine specialists have placed their trust in a technology transfer from the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG: the forged pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft have been adopted from the gull-wing model. The lower inertia of the three-kilogram lighter components allows the naturally aspirated eight-cylinder engine to rev freely and respond even more promptly. Distinguishing features of the Performance Package include the variable intake manifold painted in titanium grey and the AMG high-performance braking system with compound brake discs at the front axle.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission on board

New equipment includes the innovative AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, which incorporates a wet start-up clutch and four transmission modes as well as double-declutching and RACE START functions for optimum driving dynamics. Distinguishing features of the current model include the aluminium bonnet with modified powerdomes, the new radiator grille, the new headlamps, the new AMG rear apron with a distinctive black diffuser insert and active rear-axle cooling. To optimise radiator inflow, the AMG front apron on the DTM Safety Car features enlarged openings and side air outlets, while the AMG carbon-fibre spoiler lip on the boot lid reduces lift at high track speeds. In keeping with this design, the DTM Safety Car also sports AMG carbon-fibre exterior mirrors.

Outstanding grip thanks to differential lock and 3-stage ESP®

The adjustable coil-over suspension together with the differential lock and the 3-stage ESP® ensures a high level of agility and outstanding grip on the race track. The C 63 AMG Safety Car is shod with multi-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in matt black with a high-sheen rim flange, 235/35 R 19 front tyres and 255/30 R 19 rear tyres.

The AMG high-performance braking system has been optimised for the race track: compound brake discs with six-piston brake callipers at the front axle and steel brake discs with four-piston brake callipers at the rear axle; all of the discs are internally ventilated and perforated. Meanwhile, the AMG sports exhaust system with special rear silencers produces an unmistakable AMG V8 sound.

Distinguishing features of the DTM Safety Car compared to the standard C 63 AMG include distinctive DTM Safety Car logos, the LED light bar on the roof and the stroboscopic flashing LED lights at the front and rear. A number plate illuminated with LEDs and the words “Safety Car” on the boot lid make the car easier to see in poor weather conditions. To facilitate communication with Race Control, the Safety Car is fitted with a radio system and a TV monitor. Two AMG sports bucket seats with four-point seat belts provide ideal lateral support for the driver and co-driver, while the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara with steering-wheel shift paddles assures optimum vehicle control.

DTM Safety Car from Mercedes-AMG since 2000

Mercedes-AMG has provided the Safety Car ever since the “new” DTM’s inception in 2000 and alternates with Audi from race to race. The flagship V8 C-Class model from AMG has been used in DTM since its launch in 2008. To help ensure safety on the race track in the Formula-1 World Championship, the SLS AMG is used as the Official F1TM Safety Car, while the Official F1TM Medical Car is a C 63 AMG Estate.

One thing I’d like to point out here is the offering of the AMG Development Pacakge, which cuts the 0 to 60 mph time on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe to 4.3 seconds from 4.4 seconds and increases the top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph. While to some it will seem like a must-have options… nevermind – if we had the money it will be a must-have option for us as well.

Two-door coupe delivers up to 481 hp

March 20, 2011 – MONTVALE, NJ

The new 2012 C63 AMG Coupe designed by Mercedes-AMG combines distinctive design with a powerful drivetrain and dynamic handling. The new coupe joins the successful C63 AMG Sedan as well as the AMG family of coupes which includes the CLS63 AMG and the CL63AMG. The new coupe makes its U.S. showroom debut in September 2011.

The AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine in the C63 AMG Coupe delivers a maximum output of 451 hp and peak torque of 443 lb-ft. Reflecting its outstanding performance, the coupe is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited). With these specifications, the new two-door vehicle is poised to take the lead in its segment.

The new coupe shares all the technology updates from the 2012 C63 AMG Sedan and features the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with standard “Controlled Efficiency” mode, and a new power steering pump that helps to reduce fuel consumption.

AMG Development Package for a maximum output of 481 hp

This reduction in fuel consumption also applies to the C63 Coupe when equipped with the AMG Development Package which generates 481 hp. This optional package improves acceleration from 0 to 60 mph to 4.3 seconds thanks to technology transferred from the SLS AMG. The forged pistons, connectin grods and lightweight crankshaft adopted from the gullwing model’s high-tech drive system save 6.6 pounds in weight. This reduces rotational inertia and enhances the agility and responsiveness of the high-revving, eight-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Top speed increases as well to 174 mph (electronically limited). Visually, the AMG performance package can be identified by the variable intake manifold finished in titanium grey under the hood, the AMG high-performance braking system with two-piece front rotors and red painted brake calipers, the carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler and the AMG performance steering wheel in premium leather with an Alcantara® grip area.

Standard AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission provides direct and agile power delivery. In place of the traditional torque converter, this innovative transmission features a compact, wet start-up clutch which reduces the power losses normally associated with conventional automatic transmissions and significantly lowers fuel consumption. The Controlled Efficiency “C” mode provides early, comfortable upshifts while maintaining the lowest possible engine speed and “soft” accelerator characteristics to help improve fuel economy.

The exclusive Mercedes-AMG power transmission offers a high level of versatility and performance. The “S”, “S+” and “M” modes deliver increased agility and are selected via the new rotary control knob familiar from the SLS AMG. Faster gear changes and higher revs add to the emotional experience as well as rev-matching in “S”, “S+” and “M” modes. Gear changes in the “S+” and “M” modes take just 100 milliseconds and the RACE START function allows the driver to harness the vehicle’s full acceleration capability.

Specific AMG sports suspension for quick acceleration and ride comfort

It’s not just the engine and MCT transmission which influence the C63 AMG Coupe’s aggressive character – the AMG sports suspension and AMG high-performance braking system are also key here. Compared with the standard suspension, the AMG coupe has a separate three-link front suspension, a reinforced multi-link independent rear suspension and a wider track front and rear. The stiffer elastokinematics, autonomous axle kinematics with more negative camber and larger anti-roll bars result in greater agility and lateral acceleration. Specially adjusted spring and damper rates have optimized both the responsiveness of the suspension as well as road noise and tire vibration.

The AMG speed-sensitive sports steering with a direct ratio (13.5: 1) provides excellent road feel and contributes to the nimble driving experience. The precise steering is complemented by three-stage ESP¨, the Electronic Stability Program that enables three individual control strategies to be accessed at the touch of a button. The driver can use the ESP¨ switch on the center console to choose between ESP ON, ESP SPORT and ESP OFF modes. The AMG high-performance braking system with internally ventilated and perforated discs at the corners provide maximum responsiveness, short stopping distances and high fade resistance.

Confident and athletic: the design of the C63 AMG Coupe

Visually, the coupe version of the C63 AMG has a confident, athletic presence that is reminiscent of the high-performance SL63 AMG roadster. The C63 AMG Coupe has a sinister low profile, powerful shoulderline and a narrow C-pillar, combined with short overhangs, long hood, steeply raked windshield and long, sloping roof.

As is typical for AMG, the car has a striking, arrow-shaped front section with the new AMG front apron housing a high-gloss black horizontal edge, AMG-specific LED daytime running lights and side air outlets. The large Mercedes star sits on a wing-shaped transverse lamella in the new radiator grille, while a modified aluminum hood with powerdomes, emphasizes the strong character of the car. The new clear-lens headlamps are particularly eye-catching, especially when equipped with the optional Lighting Package which includes bi-xenon headlamps.

The wide front fender bearing the “6.3 AMG” script, AMG rocker panels and the new 18-inch 5-twin-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey with a high-gloss finish dominate the side view. Excellent contact with the road is provided by the wide 235/40 R 18 (front) and 255/35 R 18 (rear) tires.

At the rear, the unique AMG rear apron has a distinctive, black diffuser insert and three pronounced diffuser fins along with two chromed twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system.

High-quality, dramatic interior

Inside, the instrument cluster with integrated screen immediately recalls the new CLS63 AMG with three separate round gauges providing information on speed, engine rpm, fuel level, and coolant temperature. Other display options are available through the AMG main menu accessible via the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel. The three-dimensional TFT color display located inside the speedometer welcomes the driver by showing an AMG logo.

The specially shaped AMG performance steering wheel has been adopted from the CLS63 AMG and includes flattened top and bottom sections, metallic trim elements, grip areas trimmed in perforated leather, and aluminum shift paddles. The instrument cluster and center console are trimmed in high-gloss black piano lacquer while the dashboard and doors feature aluminum trim; optional carbon fiber or wood trims are also available. The rotary control for selecting the C, S, S+, M transmission modes and RACE START is situated on the center console.

The new AMG sports seats with integrated head restraints, EASY-ENTRY system and AMG badges have a sporty design with horizontal stitching. Combined M-B Tex/DINAMICA black upholstery comes as standard. DINAMICA is a new type of breathable man-made fiber which is pleasing to the touch and is characterized by low emissions and high durability. The side bolsters of the AMG sports seats are covered in M-B Tex while the center panels of the seat cushions are upholstered with DINAMICA. The C63 AMG Coupe is a proper four-seater with the rear seats featuring the same style of horizontal stitching as the AMG sports seats. Standard split-folding rear seats help expand available cargo capacity.

Optional leather interior appointments help individualize the inside with four single tone and three two-tone combinations.

High level of safety and new assistance systems

With nine airbags as standard, belt tensioners and belt-force limiters for all seats, the C63 AMG Coupe has extensive safety features. The airbags, which can deploy in milliseconds in the event of an accident, include front, side and pelvic bags for the driver and front passenger, a kneebag on the driver’s side, and windowbags.

With a number of driving assistance systems ranging from ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection to Blind Spot Assist, the C63 AMG Coupe provides a comprehensive level of driver support and protection. The assistance systems are familiar from the flagship S-Class and are based on the latest radar, camera and sensor technology to help monitor and prevent frequent accident causes such as driving too closely, fatigue and darkness.

The new telematics generation featuring enhanced ease of operation

The C63 AMG Coupe also features a new telematics generation which offers greater operating convenience, larger displays, phone book transfer, Bluetooth audio streaming and a USB interface now accommodated in the center armrest.

The optional COMAND system now features SIRIUS weather information along with the familiar destination search/route download via Google. The COMAND navigation system also includes a new 3D display with city views, the ability to record and retrace a specific route, specific personal destinations can be saved or imported via an SD card and four alternative routes can be displayed on the navigation map, one of them an economical variation.

The new C63 AMG Coupe will make its U.S. showroom debut in September 2011.

After a short leak earlier last week, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is making its official world debut today with more attractive styling but the same 6.3L V8 engine from the previous model year.

That’s right, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG continues to be powered by a 6.3L V8 engine making 451-hp, which can be increased to 481-hp with the optional AMG Development Package. Mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission from the SL63 AMG, the 2012 C63 AMG can go from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. When mated to the AMG Development Package, the 0-60 mph acceleration time drops to 4.3 seconds and top speed is increased to 174 mph.

While you probably really don’t care about fuel-economy, Mercedes-Benz says that the optimized suspension and new steering system reduces fuel consumption.

The high-performance Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sedan is now more attractive than ever thanks to restyling for the 2012MY. The C63 AMG sedan is complemented by numerous enhancements help maximize performance while significantly reducing fuel consumption. The sedan now features the award-winning AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with standard “Controlled Efficiency” mode along with a new power steering pump that helps reduce the combined fuel consumption by about ten percent (estimated figured for U.S. models pending). The output of the AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine is unchanged at 451 hp and can be increased to a maximum of 481 hp with the optional AMG Development Package.

Agility, grip and ride comfort have been enhanced as a result of numerous measures to optimize the AMG sports suspension. New assistance systems and a new generation of telematics increase both safety and comfort. The U.S. market launch for the 2012 C63 AMG Sedan begins in autumn.

The 2012 C63 AMG sedan features a new radiator grille with a large Mercedes star and a single transverse louvre, as well as a new AMG front apron with a lower cross member painted in high-gloss black. AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission from the SL63 AMG

Under the skin, the top C-Class model boasts a wealth of new technology including the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission – another advanced feature adopted from the SL63 AMG. This innovative transmission uses a wet start-up clutch in place of a traditional torque converter to deliver a much more efficient, agile and direct response. Fuel consumption and emissions have been reduced thanks to the “Controlled Efficiency” mode and a new power steering pump.

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission impresses with its exceptional flexibility: with four driving modes as well as rev-matching and RACE START functions, it delivers comfortable shifts around town as well as instant response in high performance driving situations. The Controlled Efficiency “C” mode is programmed to provide smooth, comfortable upshifts while maintaining the lowest possible engine speed to help maximize fuel efficiency. AMG Development Package: technology transfer from the SLS AMG

Even more dramatic performance is available with the optional AMG Development Package offering 481 hp and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. The Mercedes- AMG engine experts have achieved this increase in output thanks to a technology transfer from the SLS AMG with forged pistons, connecting rods and the lightweight crankshaft all coming from the gullwing model’s engine. The reduced mass inertia of the components – which are 6.6 pounds lighter than those of the standard version – allows the naturally aspirated eight-cylinder engine to rev up with even greater ease and agility.

The AMG speed-sensitive sports steering with a direct ratio (13.5 : 1) has a redesigned power-steering pump which contributes to reduced fuel consumption. This new pump only requires energy when the driver is actually making steering movements. Reliable deceleration at all times is provided by the AMG highperformance braking system with internally ventilated and perforated discs all around.

High Quality Interior

Even a quick glance at the interior of the 2012 C63 AMG sedan reveals the considerable updates, such as the completely new dashboard design with an integrated screen. The new 3D color TFT display in the middle of the redesigned speedometer welcomes the driver upon entry with the AMG logo. The new threespoke AMG performance steering wheel – a feature adopted from the CLS63 AMG – is trimmed in premium leather and features metallic trim elements with a flattened top and bottom sections as well as grip areas which are specially shaped and trimmed in perforated leather for perfect steering control. Aluminum shift paddles facilitate manual gear changes.

Fine trim elements in brushed dark aluminum are found on the dashboard and doors. Situated in the center console surrounded by high-gloss black piano lacquer trim is the new rotary control for selecting the transmission modes C, S, S+, M and RACE START. The special AMG sports seats with integrated head restraints and adaptive backrests are available from launch with combined M-B Tex/DINAMICA black upholstery. (DINAMICA is a new type of breathable manmade fiber). The side bolsters of the AMG sports seats are covered in M-B Tex while the center panels of the seat cushions are also upholstered with DINAMICA.

Available as an option, designo leather appointments give the interior of the C63 AMG a very exclusive character: four single colors and three two-tone combinations are available. As a further option, these can be complemented with “extended black designo leather appointments” for the top section of the dashboard and the upper section of the door linings.

Five new driver assistance systems already established in the S-Class and CLS

The 2012 C63 AMG features five new driver assistance systems which are already established in the S-Class flagship model line and the trend-setting CLS. These assistance systems use the latest camera and sensor technology and are designed to combat common causes of accidents. They raise the safety of the C-Class to a new level by warning the driver of a hazard.

What you’re seeing here are leaked images of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, which will make its official debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. We’ll bring you full high-res photos along with a full press release when we get our hands on it but for now – this will have to suffice.

Looks wise the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG gets the same upgrades as the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class but of course, AMG added some modifications to make it more aggressive than its standard siblings. On the inside, it’s pretty much the same story as the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class with an upgraded dash that carries a 5.8 inch display.

Power wise, you won’t see the new downsized twin-turbo 5.5L V8 in the 2012 C63 AMG. Instead, the 2012 C63 AMG keeps its 6.2L V8 making 451-hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. AMG engineers, however, did at the new 7-speed Speedshift MCT automatic, which allows 0-60 mph to come in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 174 mph.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition

There is no doubt that the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is one outstanding high-performance sedan and we really can’t wait for a coupe version of the model. Catering to its Canadian fan base, Mercedes-Benz recently unveiled the special Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition at the 2011 Montreal International Auto Show.

Designed by AMG Performance Centre in Affalterbach, the special-edition model gets designo MAGNO Allanite Grey paintwork, high-performance AMG brakes with red calipers, 19-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels in black, carbon-fiber mirror housings and a rear lip spoiler. Mercedes-Benz Canada unveils exclusive C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition

Mercedes-Benz Canada is pleased to announce the Canadian premiere of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition today at the 2011 Montreal International Auto Show. Exclusive to Canada, and limited to just 30 units, the C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition was designed in the AMG Performance Centre in Affalterbach, Germany and features unique styling cues and an impressive list of special equipment that have never been offered before on a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition is finished in highly distinctive designo MAGNO Allanite Grey paintwork, and its unique appearance is further distinguished by high-performance AMG brakes with red calipers, 19″ AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels in black, carbon-fibre mirror housings and a rear lip spoiler.

The C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition is powered by the hand-built, 6.2 L V8 engine that offers 481 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, which propels it from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds.

The luxurious interior of this limited edition model features the Affalterbach logo prominently displayed on the gearshift lever and embossed on the headrests, and red contrast stitching adorns the black AMG Nappa leather sport seats. The overall design is completed by AMG carbon-fibre trim, floor mats with red leather piping and a special Affalterbach Edition badge which identifies every car with its unique “1 of 30″ designation.

The C63 AMG Affalterbach Edition boasts an extensive list of standard equipment and also features each element from the C63 AMG Premium Package, which includes a rear view camera, PARKTRONIC, COMAND APS with HDD Navigation and DVD Changer, multi-media interface, rear window sunshade, harman/kardon LOGIC7® surround sound system and KEYLESS-GO. In addition, the Affalterbach Edition is equipped with the AMG Performance Package, which adds 30 additional horsepower, removes the speed limiter and adds a limited-slip differential.

2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG (Possible Leak)

Last week we saw the web debut of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which will make its public debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show next month.

Following the base models, the high-performance 2012 C 63 AMG will follow. We’re not exactly sure when it will debut, but these two images have popped up on the web claiming to be the car.

Power for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG is expected to come from the company’s new 5.5L twin-turbo V8 making 571-hp and 664 lb-ft of torque between 2,250 and 5,500 rpm.

Just last night, we told you about a new Twitter sweepstakes from Mercedes-Benz where you can win a 2012 C-Class Coupe. Well, we now have some more information on the C-Class Coupe, which will be unveiled early next year.

According to Inside Line their will be a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class AMG Black Series Coupe, most likely keeping the C 63 badge. Power will come from the company’s new 5.5L twin-turbo V8 making 571-hp and 664 lb-ft of torque between 2,250 and 5,500 rpm.

Wimmer Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG

This site covers a lot of tuning packages, and, in most of them, the package includes some sort of cosmetic upgrade. But what about buyers who think their car looks good on its own, but still want more power? Wimmer RST, a German tuning company, has appealed to just this sort of tuner with their C63 package.

Wimmer thinks the C63 is a very good looking car and seeks to make the most of a good thing by upping the already formidable power coming from the 6.2 L V8 and getting 572 hp and 509 lb-ft from the car, up from the standard 450 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Wimmer finds this power by optimizing air induction, air filtering, and a remap of the ECU. The new exhausts also help, while providing a nicer sound to boot. The car is, like most German cars, still limited; but the 190 mph ceiling should be plenty for any serious gearhead.

The C63 can be a good looking car, even if the driver (oddly) thinks it needs more power. Wimmer, for $13,560, can make that happen.

Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Sedan

The BMW M3 and the Audi RS5 may want to keep an eye out in the rear-view-mirror. Mercedes-Benz is working on an AMG version of the upcoming C-Class Coupe. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is scheduled to debut early next year and will be followed by a C 63 AMG Black Series Coupe, a successor to the CLK Black Series, first launched in 2007.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Black Series Coupe will be the current C 63 AMG sedans 6.2L V8. Output will be increased from 451-hp to 513-hp allowing it to go from 0-62 mph in four seconds. Transferring all that power to the wheels will be a 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddleshifters.

Prices are expected to start around £100,000 ($161,264 USD).

RENNtech C74 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz tuner RENNtech has unveiled its latest tuning package for the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG at the 2010 Festival of Speed in Orlando, Florida.

Known as the C74, RENNtech gives the C 63 AMG a bunch of visual enhancement but the real story is under the hood. The 6.2L AMG V8 has been upgraded to produce a total of 605-hp with a maximum torque of 555 lb-ft. That allows the C 63 AMG to run a quarter mile in 11.4 seconds at 126 mph with a top speed of 204 mph.

The whole RENNtech C74 package is available for purchase starting at $11,950.
