Are you hungry for more power from your 457-hp Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG? Well, lucky for you Mercedes-Benz has just announced the new Performance Package Plus for the C 63 AMG that increases output of the high-performance sedan by 30-hp for a total of 487-hp. 0-62 mph time comes in just 4.4 seconds while top speed is still electronically governed at 155 mph.

The power upgrade comes courtesy of the forged pistons adopted from the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft translate into a weight saving of three kilograms.

The new Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Performance Package Plus is available for an extra €7,080 ($10,630 USD). Buyers can also opt for the new black designo leather for an additional €2856 ($4,288).

Press Release:

Performance Package Plus: enhanced performance for successful AMG model: C 63 AMG with a shot of SLS

Affalterbach – Enhanced driving dynamics ex factory for the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG: the new Performance Package Plus is an attractive optional extra that is designed to appeal to the power-hungry sports driver. The Performance Package Plus increases output by 22 kW/30 hp to 358 kW/487 hp. As a result, the C-Class approaches the level of performance offered by C-Class DTM vehicles, which deliver 377 kW/500 hp. The Performance Package Plus is available for the saloon and estate models and includes an AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology on the front axle, a carbon fibre spoiler lip (saloon) and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara.

With the Performance Package Plus, the C 63 AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 13.9 seconds. This beats the 336 kW/457 hp standard model by up to 1.2 seconds (0–100 km/h: 4.5 seconds; 0–200 km/h: 15.2 seconds). The top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

The improvement in power output to 358 kW/487 hp is due to the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine’s modified engine compartment: the forged pistons adopted from the new SLS AMG super sports car together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft translate into a weight saving of three kilograms. Reduced inertia boosts the agility and responsiveness of the uprated V8 engine, which is recognisable from the variable intake manifold painted in titanium grey. New engine management completes the powertrain measures in the Performance Package Plus for the C 63 AMG.

AMG high-performance braking system featuring composite technology

The Performance Package Plus braking system has been adapted to the enhanced driving dynamics. A new AMG high-performance braking system ensures greater stability when driving dynamically, with compound brake discs on the front axle and red painted brake callipers all round showing the AMG logo. The brake discs feature a composite design and are connected to an aluminium bowl to avoid temperature peaks. The connection between the disc and bowl is new: instead of the usual screw connection, the aluminium bowl is now connected to the brake disc via cast-in arms. The advantage is more homogenous temperature distribution on the brake disc.

A further identifying feature of the Performance Package Plus is the AMG carbon fibre spoiler lip on the boot lid (saloon). In the interior, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather with a grip area trimmed in Alcantara feels good, while at the same time making a striking visual impact.

The new AMG Performance Package Plus is available for C 63 AMG saloon and estate models and can be ordered now. The sales price is €7080.50 or €6426 (saloon/estate; prices include 19% VAT) with the market launch taking place in December 2009.

Extended appointments in black designo leather

New black designo leather as an optional extra will enhance the interior even further and covers the upper section of the dashboard, the upper door trim and the armrest on the centre console. This high-quality feature is available in conjunction with nappa leather appointments for €2856 (price includes 19% VAT).

The internationally successful C 63 AMG model

The C 63 AMG is one of the most popular vehicles in the Mercedes-AMG model range. In 2008, 8100 units of this high-performance car were sold worldwide. The C 63 AMG demonstrates its sports credentials in international motorsport as well as on the road. For example, the C 63 AMG estate is used as the official F1™ medical car and the C 63 AMG saloon acts as a safety car in the DTM German Touring Car Masters.

So you already feel pretty crappy that your significant other is forcing you to purchase the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Estate over its cooler and sexier looking sedan sibling. Worry not; Vath is here to help you out. The German tuning firm is offering a bunch of visual and performance upgrades that are sure to grab the attention of soccer moms when you drop your little ones off at school or a game.

After a series of enhancements, Vath allows the 6.3L V8 under the hood to pump out 585-hp with a maximum torque of 509 lb-ft. That allows the, what Vath calls the V63RS, to go from 0 to 62 mph a little faster than the standard model and will let you keep going to a top speed of 202 mph.

To further enhance performance, Vath added a limited slip differential with a 60% locking rate, a sports tuned suspension and a high-performance braking system.

Visual upgrades include some lightweight carbon fiber touches with a new front lip, rear apron and a redesigned rear diffuser. The Vath V63RS rides on 20-inch alloy wheels.

It’s not like the 457-hp Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG wasn’t powerful enough already, but Avus Performance felt it can offer those looking for a little more power something to look forward to.

The German tuner is offering a performance upgrade for the C63 AMG that give the 6.3L V8 engine the ability to produce 585-hp with a maximum torque of 545 lb-ft. Avus has also gotten rid of the C63 AMG’s speed-limiter, taking the top speed up to 199 mph. Other performance enhancing features include 8-piston brake calipers with 380mm diameter, a new set of springs and coilovers and a stainless steel exhaust system that is sure to deliver some aggressive tones.

Avus is also offering some visual upgrades including a new front grille, black finish mirror covers and 19-inch multispoke AMG wheels (a 20-inch option is also available).

Here it is – the first chrome finished vehicle for 2009 found in… wait for it… Dubai. This chromed-out 2008 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG was spotted hanging outside of the Burj Al-Arab. We’re still baffled by why someone would chrome out their whole car – especially in a city where the weather is usually sunny with temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Refresher: Power for the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG comes from a 6.2L V8 that produces 450-hp with a maximum torque of 443 lb-ft. 0 to 62 mph comes in just 4.5 seconds.

Press Release:

Even racier – even better: CARLSSON CK63 S (Basis C 63 AMG)

- Performance kit with up to 565 PS / 415 kW
- powerful-dynamic Carlsson-Aerodynamics
- Sport rear muffler, coil-over kit and limited slip differential
- Carlsson High Tech forged wheels 1/16 UL in 19 inches

Merzig, Germany – With the C-Class top-of-the line model C 63 AMG, Mercedes-Benz has given an impressive statement in the medium class. Where else can you get an enormous larger than 6 litre V8 engine in a relatively small car? But as the power output is comparably low, the high-tech manufacturer Carlsson activates the hidden potential. With up to 565 hp, the Carlsson CK63 leaves its competitors behind its (stainless steel) end pipes. And equipped with new wheels and even more sporty aerodynamics, the top-of-the line C-Class model refined by Carlsson also shows clear features of a top athlete.

Carlsson CK63 – that stands for performance and full torque. The performance kit for the motor type M156 increases the serial performance of the 6.3 litre V8 from 457 hp (336 kW) at 6,800 r.p.m up to 565 hp/415 kW. The torque significantly increases from 600 to 685 Nm and therefore the car only needs 3.8 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h instead of the serial 4.5 seconds. Once more, the Carlsson engineers are able to prove their expertise gained in motor sports.

All kits include a special motor electronics adaption, a maximum speed increase up to 300 km/h (electronically limited), a sport air filter and a noble three-part Carlsson motor cover made of real carbon as well as the obligatory Carlsson nameplate in chrome. Carlsson gently limits the never-ending thrust at 300 km/h for all models with an electronic device. The Carlsson sport rear muffler from the 565 hp strong CK63 S-Kit not only renders an enormous sound but also 15 extra hp (11 kW).

Coil-over kit and limited slip differential

The perfectly set-up Carlsson RS coil-over kit which has been co-developed by Ellen Lohr offers a step-less height adjustment and renders a driving dynamics which has never been experienced before. With the individually adjustable damping characteristics, the driver can regulate the setup according to his preference. With this new technical development by Carlsson, the driver does not have to make any compromise. He can enjoy the comfort of the roadworthy suspension system or race for top speeds on a racetrack. To ensure that the extra performance which has been imbued to the C-Class by Carlsson does not go up in smoke on the asphalt, Carlsson recommends fitting its torque-sensitive multi-plate limited slip differential with mechanically variable lock-up (produced with lock-up values according to customer requirements). This increases the traction and driving stability, especially when accelerating in bends.

Powerful-dynamic Carlsson aerodynamics

The elaborate premium Carlsson aerodynamics consists of a front spoiler, the front spoiler lip RS and a Carlsson rear spoiler (with an imprinted Carlsson logo) which renders stability at higher speeds. All accessories are made of high-quality PUR or optionally real carbon. The styling kit does not only stand out for its perfect finishing, but also for its unique design. It emphasizes the Carlsson designers´ claim to always develop something a bit nobler than its competitors.

High Tech forged wheels 1/16 Ultra Light

When developing the Carlsson light alloy wheels 1/16 UL, the engineers and designers most of all focused on a perfect weight optimization. All force effects on the wheel are led into the wheel spider by the regular distribution of spokes. This avoids an over-dimensioned wall thickness and leads to a low wheel weight. The latest forging technology leads to a weight reduction of 38% compared to ordinary wheels with a similar wheel load and dimension! Thanks to the metal compression, the induced forces are forwarded in a far more homogenous way than with a cast wheel. Therefore, the unsprung masses are held as low as possible at the wheel suspensions and that leads to a noticeable driving comfort improvement by the Carlsson forged wheels compared to customary light alloy wheels. The forged Carlsson wheel 1/16 Ultra Light is available in the sizes 8,5×19“ (FA+RA) and 10×19“ (only RA) for the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

Finest craftsmanship dominates the interior

According to the customer requirements, Carlsson compiles various components to an individual comfort-mix, from a sport steering wheel to leather interiors or multi-media accessories. In the noble manufactory, also the Carlsson CK63 S is once again significantly individualized. This is how unique specimen are created with the best materials according to customers wishes.

For those (that may include many people) that probably can’t afford the $538,286 730-hp BRABUS BULLIT BLACK ARROW, BRABUS has announced a less powerful and cheaper solution for the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

Fitting its B63 S engine tuning kit into the 450-hp 6.2L V8 of the C 63 AMG, BRABUS increased out to 550-hp with a peak torque of 479 lb-ft. That allows for a 0-62 mph time of just 4.3 seconds (BULLIT BLACK ARROW does it in 3.9) and an eye-watering top speed of 205 mph.

If you don’t own a C 63 AMG, don’t worry – the BRABUS B63 S performance kit is available for all Mercedes 63 AMG models.

Press Release:

BRABUS B63 S

550 hp / 404 kW and a Top Speed of up to 330 km/h for all Mercedes 63 AMG Models
Even more power for all Mercedes 63 AMG models: BRABUS presents its B63 S engine tuning, which boosts power output of the high-revving 6.2-liter V8 to 550 hp / 404 kW and peak torque to 650 Nm. With a sprint time from rest to 100 km/h of just 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h a CLS 63 AMG with B63 S tuning turns in performance worthy of a true super sports car.
The BRABUS power kit comprises newly programmed engine electronics with special mapping for injection and ignition. But that’s not all: The intake side features a sport air filter for improved supply of combustion air. The exhaust side features high-performance metal catalysts with low back pressure that also ensure that the tuned V8 engine meets stringent EURO IV emission limits.
In order to transfer the increased power to the road with minimum slip BRABUS recommends the BRABUS locking differential for all Mercedes 63 models with rear wheel drive. The diff lock has a locking rate of up to 40 percent.
The BRABUS B63 S performance kit is available for all Mercedes 63 AMG models. With 550 hp / 404 kW the ML 63 accelerates in 4.9 seconds from 0 -100 km/h and reaches a top speed of 275 km/h in combination with the BRABUS V/max unit.
This extraordinary performance represents a good argument for modifications to tires, suspension and brakes. Depending on the Mercedes 63 AMG model in question BRABUS offers custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations up to size 11Jx23 with tires up to 315/25 R 23 in size. To further improve the already excellent handling characteristics BRABUS has developed a control module for the ABC suspensions that lowers the ride height by some 20 millimeters. BRABUS sport stabilizers reduce body roll and optimize turn-in.
The BRABUS high-performance brake system offers stopping power and endurance normally only found in purebred sports cars. It is available for all Mercedes 63 AMG models, upon customer request even in a special version with ceramic discs. The front axle features 380 x 36 millimeter discs and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers. The rear axle is fitted with six-piston fixed calipers and 355 x 28 mm brake discs.
The list of BRABUS exclusive interior accessories ranges from genuine carbon-fiber trim and scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo to ergonomically shaped sport steering wheels and a speedometer with 360-km/h dial.
Upon customer request the company-own upholstery shop crafts especially exclusive BRABUS interiors from a combination of especially soft yet highly durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.

We became big time RENNtech fans when it decided to give the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 the amount of horsepower it should’ve had – 722. Today, RENNtech unlocks another Mercedes-Benz mystery. Last year, Mercedes-Benz surprised us all with its new 475-hp 6.3 liter V8 C 63 AMG. But what’s more surprising is that that same engine produces 507-hp or 518-hp in the E and S-Class models. What happened to all that extra horsepower?

Mercedes-Benz restricted the car says Hartmut Feyhl. Feyhl is the former technical director at AMG North America and now owns RENNtech. So naturally when RENNtech got around to tuning the C 63 AMG – it decided to unleash all that extra horsepower hiding under the hood.

With its high-performance ECU2 software, RENNtech was able to extract a total of 548-hp with a peak torque of 510 lb-ft. It’s no 730-hp Brabus Bullitt Black Arrow – but we’re sure it’ll get the job done.

Press Release:

40 years ago, the hottest, fastest sedan you could buy was Mercedes-Benz’ 300SEL 6.3. By placing its largest engine in a mid-sized car, Mercedes’ engineers created a luxurious sedan capable of out-performing some of the quickest sportscars of its day. The 6.3 remains a landmark sports sedan that continues to influence Mercedes’ design direction. Nowhere is the influence of the 6.3 more evident than in AMG’s current line of sports sedans. AMG’s newest cars carry the first purpose-built, “all-AMG” engine design in the company’s history, and the “63″ designation they wear (S63, E63, etc.) is a direct reference to the 6.3.

Last year, Mercedes revisited the “bigger engine, smaller car” formula and introduced the C63 AMG. Powered by the same 6.2 liter V8 as its bigger, more expensive S and E class siblings, the C63 promised heart-stopping performance at a bargain price … but, somewhere between concept and production, something happened: the C63 put out a “mere” 451 hp.

While the C63 is certainly no slouch, it didn’t make the same 507 or 518 horsepower that its E and S class siblings made. Some of the power difference can legitimately be blamed on more restrictive intake and exhaust paths – after all, the big V8 is a tight fit in the smaller C class, but this fails to explain how the same engine, when found under the hood of a CLK63 AMG Cabrio, makes 475 hp.

Where did that 24 hp go?

“Mercedes restricted the car,” explains Hartmut Feyhl. “So, our first step in extracting more power from the C63 is to de-restrict the car.” Of course, in this modern age of software encryption and electronic obstacles, that kind of “de-restricting” is easier said than done – which is why Feyhl is exactly the man you want to talk to when it’s time to take your C63 to the next level.

Hartmut Feyhl was technical director at AMG North America before forming his own company, RENNtech, in 1989. Since then, Feyhl built a reputation as one of the world’s premier tuners and America’s foremost authority on Mercedes-Benz high performance.

It should come as no surprise, then, that RENNtech’s first offering for the C63 was an effective ECU software upgrade (ECU1) to unleash the same “factory” 475 hp and 465 lb-ft (up from 451 and 443) as the CLK.

It should also come as no surprise, then, that RENNtech didn’t leave it at that! “In a sense, the C63 is a return to the roots for Mercedes, and for AMG, and also for RENNtech,” says Feyhl. “It is a very special car, as the C class has grown to about the same size as the 6.3 and the W124 Hammer, but with much more power. We want to see how far we can go with this car.”

With that in mind, RENNtech has introduced a comprehensive line of performance products to turn the AMG C63s of the world into more focused trackday performers, starting with the car you see here.

To get the most from the C63, RENNtech began with the ECU2 high-performance software. Much more than a (relatively) simple de-restriction, this flavor of RENNtech’s software optimizes every aspect of engine performance, building massive amounts of torque across the low-to-mid rpm range and boosting the C63’s top speed to 187 mph. When combined with RENNtech’s stainless-steel long-tube headers and new, track-oriented sound/performance pipes, the RENNtech software produces 548 peak horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

RENNtech sharpens the C63’s handling reflexes with a fully adjustable sport suspension and adjustable front and rear camber bushings that allow customers to “dial-in” ride height and shock damping while the camber bushings help maintain proper camber and alignment for maximum grip (RENNtech considers these camber bushings a must-have item for serious performance drivers).

To rein in the C63’s newfound horsepower, RENNtech offers maximum stopping power in the form 15.2″ 2 PC rotors clamped by RENNtech calipers. Along with stainless steel braided lines front and rear, these brakes improve overall feel and driver confidence at speed. Additional cooling from RENNtech’s carbon-fiber brake ducts further reduce fade – another must-have upgrade for competitive driving styles.

In the past, few would have considered a car like the C63 a truly capable trackday ride, but with the success of track events like the AMG Challenge and SLR.Club Trophy, it is clear that there are a growing AMG drivers who want to experience their car on the track. “We are all racers,” says Feyhl, “and when we find ourselves on a track, we want to be competitive.”

With almost 100 hp over the stock C63, RENNtech-tuned C63s will probably be competitive enough for most people – but keep in mind that this is RENNtech (birthplace of the “real” 722 SLR, where a 900 lb-ft twin-turbo V12 sedan is a daily occurrence) and that 2009 marks RENNtech’s 20th anniversary … does Herr Feyhl have some kind of “birthday party” in mind for RENNtech that involves the C63 and ties all this rich history and tradition together?

Probably!
