McLaren has officially announced that online configurator for the 2011 McLaren MP4-12C. To promote the launch, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are back to show you how they went about configuring their MP4-12Cs.

McLaren Automotive yesterday officially revealed the final production version of the MP4-12C supercar, the firm’s first road-going performance car since the McLaren F1. Well, McLaren thought who better to give it to take it out on the track than McLaren’s Formula 1 driving team – Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

Vodaphone has launched their new Taxi Grand Prix fantasy racing campaign. Users can log on to the Taxi Grand Prix website, pick their team of taxi drivers and must have them finish the race before anyone else to win. The distance traveled by each taxi driver in real life is added to the player’s total points and virtual race.

A rather amusing TV ad spot featuring F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen has been created to promote the Taxi Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton portrait painted with Mobile 1 oil: David Macaluso, an oil painter from the U.S., used the oil that drove Hamilton to his 2008 championship title to paint a portrait of the famous F1 race car driver. After six months of painstaking work and $233,172, London’s Madame Tussauds unveiled a lifelike wax statue of Formula One Champion – Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton underwent 300 measurements for the statue which shows him holding his helmet and gloves dressed in his McLaren race gear.

Hamilton’s wax statue joins Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell and Michael Schumacher in the interactive Sports Zone of Madame Tussads.

You know that you’re a huge success when a wax figure of you is displayed at Madame Tussauds London. The famous museum announced today that work is underway on a wax figure of Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton’s figure will join the lineup of sporting greats in the interactive Sports Zone in early 2009.

Lewis sat down with the Madame Tussauds’ studio team where 300 measurements and reference shots were taken. Lewis’ wax figure will be wearing an exact replica of his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race suit and he will be holding a replica of his race helmet.

The figure will take six months to create at a cost of £150,000 ($233,172 USD).

Well at least we now know that the Stig isn’t Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton . At the British Grand Prix last weekend, the Stig was present to drive one lucky man around the Silverstone track.

Before the F1 cars went at it, the Stig gave one lucky man, who one £5million in the lottery, the ride of his life. The experience to sit in the same car as the Stig for three hot laps was £35,000. The money was donated to the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital charity.

"Whoever’s in that car is a seriously good driver," said Fernando Alonso. "I’ve no idea who he is, but he’s definitely ex-F1," Alonso continued.

The Stig reportedly got behind the wheel of the Batmobile as well.
