The Nissan Juke-R may be a joke to many, but the car deserves its performance credits thanks to its 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 from the Nissan GT-R along with the drivetrain, suspension and transmission. It produces a whopping 485-hp and can apparently go head-to-head with a Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and a Ferrari 458 Italia.

Lamborghini has some new rumors surrounding them, which say that they have some tricks up their sleeves for this year’s upcoming Geneva Motor Show. This comes after Lamborghini said that they’ll have something new for every major auto show.

No specific details were disclosed, but circumstances and details point to an Aventador Roadster, which makes sense since Lamborghini tends to succeed their hardtop supercars with droptop versions.

However, other rumors point that it could be a production version of the Sesto Elemento, or just another special edition Gallardo.

Either way, these rumors will have most automotive news desks sitting at the edge of their seats…We say that because, well, we are too.

Hans Reiter notes that endurance racing is next up for the company, so 2012 will see some big changes. “Our customers and ourselves proved already, that the Gallardo is a safe and fast car in sprint format races”, explains Hans Reiter the reason for the next development step. “Now we want to be successful at long distance races too. Our aim is, to have a reliable 24-hour race car, which is able to win.”

Upgrades for this years model start with an AP Racing brake system including six-piston calipers, and improved break performance courtesy of an updated brake cooling system up front. A new Holiger gearbox has been crafted to be lighter, with fewer parts than last year’s version, providing greater shifting precision. Greater downforce has been created with a larger splitter and double dive plates that have been added to the corners of the front bumper.The suspension is still in the works to be re-calibrated for better grip and less tire scrub.

The previously used 5.2-liter V10 remains unchanged, and still puts out 592hp at 8,000 rpm.

All of the new development should be completed for January’s 24-hours in Dubai, and February for the gulf 12-hours in Abu Dhabi.

Pricing has yet to be released, but should ballpark around last year’s $373,400 price tag.

Ever since the beginning of time, Lamborghini has been known as the all-wheel-drive, go hard, supercar. In 2009, the company released the new Gallardo with all-wheel-drive, then later created a ‘Balboni’ limited-edition with rear-wheel drive for those that like power sent to the back (along with Balboni, Lambo’s test driver himself).

According to recent reports, Lamborghini will now offer the same to Gallardo Spyder lovers that desire some rear-wheel-drive fun as well.

The Gallardo Spyder is badged as the LP560-4 so we can expect the rear-wheel-drive version to be called LP550-2 Spyder. With that badging we’re guessing that power from the 5.4 liter V10 will be turned down by 10 horses – however, the model should be slightly lighter than the all-wheel-drive drop top.

Lamborghini’s ‘LP550-2′ should also come with a slightly smaller price tag, dropping about $14,000 off the starting price.

Instead of purchasing something more practical to suit his active lifestyle, 29-year old Olson chose to modifiy his Gallardo for his purposes.

This is not the first supercar he chose to modify, however. A Murcielago LP670 Superveloce was his first victim, which was fitted with a ski-box. After changing his mind on the new Aventador, he decided on the Gallardo LP560, and has already had a custom ski box made to withstand up to 159 mph, and has modified the exterior with a camouflage-influenced paint job.

With this kind of cash to play with, I’d have spent my dollars a bit more wisely.

Owning a premium supercar has its ups bit it also has its downs. Case in point – an owner of this Lamborghini Gallardo spent a wonderful day at the track – but on his way home he found himself in a pretty sticky situation that will most likely cost him and arm and leg.

I have filmed a friend’s Lamborghini Gallardo during a trackday event. Video shows first some track scenes. At the end of the day my friend left the racetrack. The main road was very tight, there was another car coming from the opposite way. Worried about scratching his car against the other, my friend moved too much on the right side of the road and half of the car fell down. Actually, we were in the countryside, in the middle of nowhere. It was a pretty difficult situation to move the car. Before all the haters starts to write negative comments about my friend.. it’s just an accident, it could happen to everyone.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale now become the most extreme top-of-the-range model in the current Gallardo lineup and is based on the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race car.

Weight in at 2,954 pounds, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is powered by a 5.2 V10 engine making 562 horsepower and a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft of torque. All that power is transferred to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox, allowing the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale to go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, 0 to 124 mph in 10.4 seconds – all with a top speed of 198.8 mph.

No word yet on how much the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale will cost but we don’t expect it to come cheap since Lambo will only produce 150 units.

Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., has presented at the Volkswagen Group Night in Frankfurt the most extreme Gallardo ever: the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. Automobili Lamborghini is bringing motor racing excitement directly to the road. This new and most extreme top model in the Gallardo lineup is based on the successful race car from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the world’s fastest singlemake series.

The car will be produced in a limited run of 150 numbered units.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship brings professional racers and gentlemen drivers face-to-face in fiercely fought battles on Europe’s most challenging racetracks such as Monza, Silverstone and Hockenheim. There are many similarities between the racing and road versions of this super sports car. For example, they both share the same V10 powerplant, which is used in the racing version with no modifications.

An enormous and manually variable rear spoiler for increased dynamic load

Right from first glance, these similarities are even more evident in the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. In fact, it is equipped with the same rear spoiler that offers greater aerodynamic load – reaching in the best aerodynamic condition 3 times the load of the Gallardo LP560-4 - for increased dynamic stability during tight, high-speed driving. As in the race cars, the rear spoiler can be varied manually in order to let the driver optimize the car’s performance according to the track or road characteristics.

Another element taken directly from the racing version is the removable engine hood with quick-release system. Both the spoiler and the hood are of course made of carbon composite material, as are a host of other components on the SuperTrofeo Stradale. Together with aluminum, carbon fiber is the basis behind the extremely lightweight construction of Gallardo’s new top model.

Lightweight construction through consistent use of carbon fiber

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale boasts a maximum dry weight of 1340 kilograms. It beats the already lean Gallardo LP560-4 by 70 kilograms, which gives the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale a stunning power-toweight ratio of 2.35 kilograms per HP for breathtaking performance. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.4 seconds and reaches 200 km/h just 10.4 seconds later. Its forward thrust finally tops out at 320 km/h.

“Rosso Mars” stands for Italy’s racing tradition

The Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale sports a brand new “Rosso Mars” finish that underscores the special connection between ultimate race track performance and Lamborghini’s “Italianness”. The “Rosso Mars” color symbolizes Italy’s traditional racing red, as established at the beginning of last century in motor racing, when the home nations of the competitors were indicated by the color of the paint on the vehicles. Dark green stood for Great Britain, blue was for France, white (and silver later on) represented Germany, white and blu stripes for USA, and red was the color of all race cars from Italy.

Red, black and carbon fiber characterize the exterior

The exterior appearance of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is perfectly accentuated by a matte black finish on the large rear spoiler, the engine hood and the front air intakes, which contrasts with the “Rosso Mars” paint. The forged wheels are painted in high-gloss black, a color that is also available on the roof as an option. The rocker panel covers, impressive rear diffuser and outside mirror housings are made of carbon fiber polished to a high gloss, while the brake calipers are accented in red for the first time on a Lamborghini. It’s a perfect match with the exterior color and racing concept of this new super sports car. And besides the historically suggestive “Rosso Mars”, the new Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale is also available upon request in “Grigio Telesto” or “Bianco Monocerus” with the roof available in gloss black as an option, as mentioned above.

Minimalist sporty interior

Black and red, the perfect combination of sporty minimalism, are the dominant shades inside the Super Trofeo Stradale. The most broadly used materials are Alcantara – in “Rosso Mars” on the underside of the dashboard, the central part of the seat cushion and the backrest – and extremely lightweight carbon fiber. Black Alcantara with contrasting red top-stitching is used to finish the other parts of the interior. The steering wheel is upholstered in black suede and also features red top-stitching. The door panels, the monocoque racing seats and the center console cover are made of carbon fiber, the construction of which Lamborghini has achieved a world-leading expertise. Discreet sporty accents are provided by dark chrome visible metal parts.

Upon request, an interior layout including elements made of carbon fiber, such as the handbrake frame, the middle of the center console, the lower rim of the steering wheel, the decorative frames around the main and secondary instrument panels, the door handles, and the handle for opening the glove box (also available upon request), can be ordered.

Phenomenal powerplant

Like the Super Trofeo competition version, the new Super Trofeo Stradale is based on the Gallardo Superleggera technical approach. The V10 powerplant generates 570 HP, equivalent to 419 kW, which is fully available at 8000 RPM. The maximum torque is equally impressive, with the torque curve peaking at 540 Nm at 6500 RPM. The V10′s unique firing order delivers the striking sound you hear in motor racing.

Transmission “race tested” in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship series

Like the race car, the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale offers the robotized egear six-speed transmission controlled by steering wheel paddles as standard equipment. This electronically controlled system shifts through its six gears smoothly and much faster than any human being could. And for maximum acceleration from a standing start, the transmission can be set to the “Thrust Mode” – a program that allows to reach the best performance possible executing a racing start with minimal tire slippage at an initial engine speed of approximately 5000 rpm.

Permanent all-wheel drive for maximum traction in any situation

Every kilometer in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is packed with sheer excitement, in part due to its unrelenting grip in virtually all situations thanks to all-wheel drive. At the end of the day, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo is the only single-brand racing series in the world that features all-wheel drive race cars. Suspension with unmatched precision

The layout of the suspension is directly derived from motor racing, with a double aluminum wishbone guiding the wheels. Precise rack-and-pinion steering gives the driver a very close connection to the road. As is true for the Gallardo Superleggera, the vehicle is specially set up to take full advantage of its dynamic potential. No other model in the Gallardo line is as close to being a true race car. Another great feature is the ultra-lightweight 19-inch wheels, which alone save some 13 kilograms. Brakes with unmatched stopping power

Behind the massive wheels are brakes designed for unmatched stopping power, as controlled by the ESP stability control system, which is standard equipment. The front axle is equipped with aluminum calipers with eight pistons each, and the calipers on the rear axle have four pistons each. The ventilated discs on the front and rear measure 365 and 356 millimeters, respectively. Upon request, Lamborghini will install a carbon-ceramic brake system. The carbon-ceramic discs measure 380 mm for the front wheels and 356 mm for the rear wheels.

Racing-type options

The optional equipment designed with racing in mind includes not only the carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs, but also a tubular interior roll cage, 4-point safety belts and fire extinguisher. On the other hand, those who want comfort can equip their Super Trofeo Stradale with a satellite navigation, with Bluetooth connection for mobile phones, an anti-theft system, and a lifting system that raises the front axle.

With cameras and witness phone calls, police caught many drivers in a group of 13 that were driving sports cars at speeds estimated to be over 120mph, however, are unable to go forward with more charges.

Police have the cars on film near the George Massey Tunnel, but there is nothing there to get the drivers on speeding charges. Norm Gaumont, RCMP traffic services; Supt. says “We already checked the cameras… nothing dangerous happened in the tunnel.”

The drivers are being charged with driving without due consideration for others. They are also facing multiple fines, including $196 ticket, $300 in penalty points premium, and towing and storage costs of approximately $350.

Consisting of 12 men and one woman, the group of drivers were all under 21, and many still had a novice license. Only one of the 13 actually owned the vehicle they were driving. All of the vehicles are impounded for seven days. The vehicles include three Lamborghinis, three Nissans, a Ferrari, an Audi, and Aston Martin, and two Mercedes.

The drivers with novice licences are having them reviewed for possible further penalty, however Gaumont says “We don’t have police officers who observed the offence, and we don’t have lasers and radars that have the speeds. We have to really depend on third-party individuals who had called in.”

Gaumont still believes that Surry has sufficient street racing deterrents, despite the incident.

Ever since Lamborghini released a little teaser for the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the automotive publications on the Internet have been going crazy with speculation.

“Discover a new Lamborghini super sports car at the next Frankfurt Motor Show” – is what Lamborghini says in its teaser, and that itself, leaves a lot of room for rumors.

We’ve heard everything from a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster to a production Sesto Elemento. Word now has it that Lamborghini will offer a roadgoing version of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Super Trofeo – that will make it the most extreme Lamborghini Gallardo ever produced.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Super Trofeo is powered by the same 5.2L V10 engine but pumps out an extra 10 horses for a total of 570-hp and is mated to the E.Gear 6-speed gear box. Pricing starts at $252,650 with only 30 track focused models made in 2009.

You can expect the roadgoing version to be priced similar with limited production.

Richard Hammond with Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce

Top Gear’s Richard Hammond gets to drive some of the hottest supercars in the world as a part of his job but that doesn’t mean he can’t buy one. A big fan of Porsche, Hammond recently made decided to go a different route and purchased a new Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder has his new ride.

While Hammond rolls around in his Lambo and gets about 18 mpg, his wife drives a Fiat 500.

“He loves a fast car. But she prefers a runabout,” a source said of the couple.

Hammond’s Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder matches his black helicopter and costs just as much.

VF Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

With a a 5.2-liter V10 with 552 horsepower allowing for a 0 to 60 mph time in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is anything but slow. However, tuners love to get their hands on the Gallardo LP560-4 and throw in massive amounts of power… well, we guess that’s because too much power is never really a bad thing.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera

Goat Herder – that’s the name that the successor of the Lamborghini Gallardo is expected to carry when translated into English. The official badge on the car will be the Lamborghini Cabrera (which means goat herder in Spanish and Catalan).

But that’s not what’s important here. According to reports, the successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo is expected to carry a supercharged V10 engine making some 592-hp – that’s 30 more than the outgoing Gallardo Superleggera, which produced 562-hp from its 5.2L V10.

Porsche 918 RSR

Besides the upcoming Porsche Cajun, a baby Panamera and a new entry-level model, Porsche is reportedly considering a new mid-engined supercar that would compete with the likes of Aston Martin Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren.

Now many of you may be thinking that this will be a limited-edition super-expensive model, but reports suggest that the model is being conceived as a regular production model. It will be positioned above the 911 but below the Porsche 918 Spyder, which arrives in 2013 as a special-edition model.

Pricing wise, the new model will be in the same territory as the Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren MP4-12C and the Lamborghini Gallardo – so think around or above $250,000.

“We’re looking to extend the range,” Porsche’s new CEO Mathias Muller  said. “We’ve got an idea to do another mid-engined model. We’re thinking above the 911 but below the 918 Spyder (we think the Porsche 918 RSR would be nice). We have ideas on styling and design, which we will continue to develop in the coming months,” he said.

Plans for what will power the new Porsche model is still up in the air but if it wants to compete with the 458 Italia, MP4-12C and the Gallardo LP560-4, it will need to make somewhere around 550 to 600-hp. Porsche’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder pushes out 620-hp.

We really hope this gets approved.

Refresher: The Porsche 918 RSR is built on a stiff carbon fiber plastic monocoque and is powered by a direct-injected V8 from the RS Spyder making 563-hp. The two electric-motors on the front wheels contribute a burst of 150 kW bringing output to peak drive power of 767-hp. The additional jump in power is generated during braking and is stored in an optimised flywheel accumulator.

Man in China publicly destroys Lamborghini Gallardo

We’re pretty sure you’ve had a bad experience with your local dealership over problems with your vehicle, but we doubt that you were ever as unsatisfied as this man in China.

An owner of a Lamborghini Gallardo was so unsatisfied by a Lamborghini service station, that he decided to destroy his car to mark World Consumer Rights Day in Qingdao city, eastern Shandong province, China.

The owner decided to hire a bunch of men to publicly destroy the vehicle with sledgehammers in front of a pretty big gathering.

Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore

One image of the upcoming Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore has been leaked onto the Internet. Apparently the sesquicentennial anniversary of Italy’s unification is a big deal with Italian automaker has Lamborghini follows Fiat and Ferrari that are also offering special-edition touches to celebrate the occasion.

From the leaked image we can see that the Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore features the Italian flag colors right down the driver side of the vehicle including the driver seat.

We’re not really sure what else is special about the Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore but we’re guessing those Italians with a lot of money and pride will buy it.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera

Lamborghini America has announced a new lease program in partnership with Premier Financial Services that will allow customers access the company’s Gallardo lineup.

Vehicles eligible for the lease program include the 2010 and 2011 Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyders, 2011 Gallardo LP 560-4 Coupe, 2011 LP 570-4 Superleggera and the brand new 2011 Gallardo LP 550-2.

If you’re looking to lease a Lambo you better hurry because the program is only open from Jan. 31 to March 31, 2011. The 27-month lease allows only 3,500 miles a year.

“We have created a custom leasing plan for Lamborghini that will be a beneficial tool for dealers and a great finance option for customers,” said Mitchell Katz, President of Premier Financial Services. “We are pleased to partner with Lamborghini and to play a role in getting enthusiasts into these amazing vehicles.”

Top Gear's James May reviews the Ariel Atom V8

While it may not be a practical vehicle, the Ariel Atom V8 is (should be) every car enthusiast’s dream come true. Weighing in at only 1,200 pounds, the Ariel Atom is powered by a 3.0L supercharged V8 engine making 500-hp – in layman’s terms… it is blistering fast and can possibly kick an supercars… well, you know.

Top Gear‘s Captain Slow, aka James May, recently took out the Ariel Atom V8 for a test-drive and put it up against the new Lexus LFA from Japan, the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. He also ended up having a one-on-one battle with the BMW S1000 RR.
