It seems like automakers will be eating up most of the commercial breaks during Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5th. Acura will be jumping in on the game for the first time to capitalize on more than 100 million viewers.

The campaign is designed to strengthen Acura brand awareness and leverage the brand’s announcement in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show earlier this month, a 60-second commercial featuring the iconic talent of Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno coupled with the highly anticipated NSX supercar concept will air during the third quarter.

“Acura has a specific plan in place across all communication channels to build off of the first round of product news announced at the North American International Auto Show. The response to the ILX, RDX and NSX supercar concept has been extremely positive,” said Susie Rossick, Acura Brand Manager. “Our Super Bowl strategies are simple—build upon the buzz created in Detroit and leverage the excitement for the future return of the legendary NSX to the Acura lineup.”

The commercial is titled ‘Transactions’ and features Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, in a bid to be the first in line to take delivery on the first NSX.

Production of the Acura NSX will take place in 3 years in Ohio. Over the next year Acura will also introduce the new RDX and ILX compact sedan.

Pagani founder, Horatio Pagani, recently stopped by Jay Leno’s Garage to give him a tour of the company’s latest new model – the Huayra.

Unfortunately, Leno couldn’t drive the car since it’s super-expensive but he did get to ride shotgun with Horatio, which is a privilege it self.

Wolfgang Durheimer has taken over as the new chief executive of both Bugatti and Bentley as of this past spring, says the Bugatti brand will keep making the world’s fastest cars, as it is part of what the name stands for.

He also maintains that any competitor attempting to make a car to beat the Veyron will not remain on top for long, saying “We are always going to want to find out who runs the 100m the fastest. It’s the same with cars.”

Prior to his current position, Durheimer was the R&D chief for Porsche. Also a talented engineer, he continues to seek improvement in every vehicle. As for the Veyron, he feels “We would need to improve the aero, not the weight for more speed.”

Since the Veyron coupe is no longer in production, there is some debate over whats next for Bugatti. While VW is still unsure of the Galibier project, Durheimer feels “… that this will be the best car in its segment in the world. It will be claiming for outstanding design, the biggest series production engine with 16 cylinders and it will be the fastest limousine in the world.”

He also feels that there is a market within the brand’s existing business customer base. The Galibier would be fitted with Bentley trim and come with a hybrid powertrain.

No matter what the outcome of the Galibier, Durheimer still feels strongly about a follow up to the Veyron being built.

The Bugatti Veyron since day one has become one of the most iconic cars in all of automobile history. So it’s no wonder that a top of the line Super Sport edition just recently took the cake as being the most-expensive new car ever advertised.

Luxury car dealer Tom Hartley took delivery of a brand new Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with just 864 ‘delivery’ miles on the odometer. Limited to only 30 units, Mr. Hartley listed his Veyron Super Sport for £2.1 million or $3.4 million US.

The particular car that Hartley picked up was the second Super Sport ever off of the assembly line in Molsheim, France and was displayed at this past year’s Geneva Motor Show. Additionally, the customer who purchased this car also had some custom work done to it including a matte black finish and orange seats.

Hartley’s dealership also has a history of selling Veyrons as he once sold a Veyron Grand Sport convertible for £1.4 million or $2.3 million US.

Oh Jay Leno, how we envy you. Leno was recently in Germany visiting Mercedes-Benz’s AMG department and test drove the SLS AMG E-Cell along with the SLS AMG Roadster. He also swung by England to visit McLaren to drive the MP4-12C. While in England, Leno also took out time to visit Morgan and drive their new 3 Wheeler.

Power for the Morgan 3 Wheeler comes from a V-Twin fuel-injected engine making 115-hp mated to a Mazda 5-speed gearbox. Morgan says that the 3 Wheeler allows for a ‘get in and drive convenience with a thrill of extreme performance.’

If there is any Jaguar we would love to drive it would have to be the Jaguar XKR-S, the fastest, most extreme Jaguar ever. Powered by a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 making 550-hp with a maximum torque of 502 lb-ft of torque, 0 to 60 mph comes in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.

Many of us are stuck wondering how successful the new Volkswagen Beetle will be. Many think it will be a tough sell since it does have a significant image problem. Others say it will do fine succeeding on its already preexisting interest and customer base.

But to give us some consolation as to how the new Beetle is, Jay Leno, again, was given the opportunity to try out the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle and also drive the original 1938 design. Is the new Beetle any good?

Don’t you wish you could be a cool, rich cat like Jay Leno and be invited to specially organized press events just for you? So do we, despite what most of you think happens behind the scenes here at egmCarTech.

As you’ve probably assumed by now, TV star and comedian Jay Leno gave Mercedes-Benz’s AMG GmbH Headquarters a visit in Affalterbach, Germany this past week. He was given an opportunity to test drive the new SLS AMG Roadster, the SLS AMG E-Cell, and even assisted the hand-assembly of a 6.2L AMG V8 engine. I wonder if that means Mr. Leno will get his signature on that particular.

Anyway, upon Leno’s arrival at Stuttgart airport, he was greeted by AMG’s chairman Ola Källenius and was familiarized with the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster before moving on.

“The SLS AMG Roadster delivers top performance. Whether the engine, transmission, handling or brakes – you feel that the engineers at AMG are serious! When I was 18 or 19 years old I worked for Mercedes-Benz in America,” said Leno in an interview. “I knew about the test track in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim from films in which Mercedes sedans like the 220 SE or the 300 SEL 6.3 were driven through the banked curve. I have always wanted to see this for real. It took me over 40 years to do it, but now I’m here! It’s fantastic to drive the latest AMG models here on the test track today.”

With the release of the Camaro Convertible, many independent tuning firms have gotten straight to work to create upgrade packages for the latest convertible muscle car. And just recently, the latest efforts from Hennessey, the company famous for making 1000hp+ Dodge Vipers, brough their HPE600 version of the latest Camaro Convertible to Jay Leno’s garage.

Thanks to the help of a TVS2300 Roots-type supercharger, a cold-air intake, high-flow injectors and exhaust, and a reworked ECU the HPE600 produces 602hp at the flywheel with near 500 at the wheels, channeled through a six-speed automatic.

The HPE600 is a bolt-on package that not only includes the items listed above, but also includes minor custom bodywork, factory Hennessey 20-in wheels, HPE600 and Hennessey badges on both the inside and out.

All of the extras by Hennessey will cost about $16,000 on top of the initial price of the car.

Dodge CEO does a burn out on the 2011 Dodge Charger R/T

Earlier this month, Dodge CEO and Chrysler design boss Ralph Gilles stopped by Jay Leno’s Garage with the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. He has now returned to Leno with the new redesigned 2011 Dodge Charger R/T.

In the video, Gilles shows Leno how to smoke the tires of the rear-wheel-drive 2011 Charger R/T.
