About Years ago, the Jaguar XJ220 set a production-car lap record at the famous Nurburgring track in Germany.

However, Jaguar today says that it has built the fastest pussycat it has ever produced – the Jaguar XKR-S. Powered by a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 making 550-hp with a maximum torque of 502 lb-ft of torque, the Jaguar XKR-S goes from 0 to 60 mph comes in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.

So can it hold up to the Jaguar XJ220? EVO Magazine decided to find out.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Jaguar XKR-S Convertible has been sold out. In fact, the car was sold out before it even made its debut at the 2011 LA Auto Show.

Production allocated for the United States had been set for just 25 units and all have been accounted for and will be delivered to their rightful owners in early 2012.

The Jaguar XKR-S Convertible is the fastest drop-top the company has every produced – could it possibly be the fastest one its ever sold too?

Powered by Jaguar’s third generation AJ-V8, the XKR-S convertible retains the same supercharger as its coupe sibling, but was retuned to churn out 542-hp and 502 lb-ft of torque for a 0-60 time of just 4.2 seconds.

Much like the XKR-S coupe, the convertible comes with a specially tuned exhaust while the all-aluminum V8 also employs spray-guided direct injection. The Roots-type twin-vortex supercharger sits in the valley of the engine and is accompanied by two intercoolers that make the XKR-S 20% more thermodynamically efficient than its predecessor.

A revised front and rear suspension setup keeps the XKR-S agile, despite the slight increase in weight from the obligatory add-ons of drop tops. The all-aluminum body was also reworked to make it much stiffer than the traditional XKR, allowing for the XKR-S convertible to take the title as the stiffest car in its class.

UK deliveries are expected to begin at the beginning of the 2012 year with prices starting at just £103,000. Full details for the American market will be released later on, but for now, we just know that only 25 will be sent to our shores.

StarTech Jaguar XJ

StarTech, a German tuning company, has announced that it is now offering modification packages for Land Rover and Jaguar models in the United States.

In StarTech’s portfolio, you’ll find customized exterior and interior packages for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Both models get 22-inch StarTech Monostar IV alloy wheels and custom-tailored body components. StarTech also provides a range of options including full leather interiors and wood-finished trunks.

StarTech also offers customization options for the Jaguar XK and XKR models with 21-inch wheels, lower ride height and a number of interior options. It will debut a new tuning kit for the Jaguar XJ at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

StarTech has setup a new branch of the company in Irvine, Calif., to supply the North American market.

The 2011 Geneva Motor Show is turning out to be a pretty huge deal. At the show, Jaguar will show the new Jaguar XKR-S with a higher output supercharged V8 engine, a revised suspension and a new aerodynamically-driven design.

Jaguar XKR175 Coupe

Looks wise, the Jaguar XK hasn’t really been known as vehicle that reinvents itself. Under the hood, however, Jaguar has added some nice surprises including a 385-hp 5.0L V8 and a 510-hp 5.0L V8 supercharged in the XKR.

If you’re waiting to see what’s going to happen to the XK in the near future… keep waiting. The sports car is due for one more facelift in 2012 before an all-new model arrives in later 2014.

The facelift will tell the same old story with some upgraded touches including a new rear bumper and diffuser, and a proportioned rear wing. We’ll also see some new special-edition models. Currently, the Jaguar XK is available in the Black Pack and the XKR175.

Jaguar XKR175 Coupe

Jaguar is celebrating its 75th anniversary today with the debut of the limited edition 2011 Jaguar XKR175 Coupe. The model made its debut at the McCalls Motorworks Revival at the Monterey Jet Center during the Pebble Beach Automotive Weekend.

Power for the XKR175 comes from a supercharged V8 making 510-hp and 461 lb-ft of torque. That allows the top speed for the XKR to be raised to 174 mph (electronically-limited). Not sure if you’ll ever hit that top speed of 174 mph but if you do, Jaguar has added some upgrades to make sure that the XKR175 remains stable at high speeds. Modifications include a revised aerodynamic package incorporates a new front air dam, new side sills, a new rear diffuser and a larger rear spoiler providing increased balance and a reduction in lift.

Looks wise the Jaguar XKR175 gets new 20-inch Kasuga 10-spoke alloy wheels, red brake calipers and Ultimate Black exterior paint. Inside, door sill tread plates reading “XKR175 ““ 1 of 175″ remind the driver just how much they spend to get an exclusive 175.

Speaking of money, prices for the XKR175 start at $104,500. Production will be limited to just 175 units.

Jaguar XKR 75

Jaguar today dropped the first image and details on its high(er)-performance Jaguar XKR 75, which will debut at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 2. The model celebrates Jaguar’s 75th anniversary and delivers a combination of increased performance, stronger chassis and better steering control along with higher grip levels.

“We conceived the XR 75 as a sports car with a duality of character that makes it perfectly suited to driving across Europe to the Nurburgring, completing some very fast laps, and then driving home again, added Mike Cross, Chief Engineer Vehicle Integrity.

Sounds pretty sweet. Power from the 5.0L superchatged V8 has been increased to 523-hp and a maximum torque of 483 lb-ft. 0-60 mph comes in at 4.4 seconds (compared to 4.6 seconds for the standard model) with a top speed of 174 mph.

Jaguar will only produce 75 units for the UK market.

Jaguar Land Rover’s new CEO, Dr Ralf Speth, initiated the challenge to the Jaguar engineering team to construct an XKR to celebrate Jaguar’s 75th anniversary, which would deliver a combination of enhanced performance, superb chassis and steering control and grip levels to inspire the driving enthusiast to explore the true potential of the XKR’s capabilities.

Jaguar engineers increased the power and torque of the acclaimed 5.0-litre supercharged engine to 530PS and 655Nm respectively for the XKR 75, to deliver truly outstanding performance. While the limited edition model’s top speed is electronically limited to 174mph (280km/h), the XKR 75′s 0″”60mph (100km/h) acceleration time is reduced from 4.6 to 4.4 seconds compared to the standard 510 PS XKR.

Using the rigid lightweight aluminium architecture of the XK as a solid foundation, the increased power of the XKR 75 is matched by an agile, dynamic chassis that handles supremely, rides exceptionally well and stops with surefooted reassurance time after time.

The Jaguar XKR 75 features revised suspension and handling for increased precision and agility in addition to the performance enhancements. To ensure the XKR 75 remains stable at high speeds, a revised aerodynamic body pack with a front splitter, side sills extensions, a rear diffuser and larger rear spoiler provide increased balance and a reduction in lift. The XKR”s computerised Active Differential Control also adjusts to reduce steering sensitivity at very high speeds, further improving stability and driver control.

And with an improved acoustics package for the semi-active sports exhaust, the XKR 75 produces a pulse-racing growl to match its performance.
The car’s driver-focussed character, however, has not been achieved at the expense of the Jaguar traditional values of refinement and comfort.

The XKR 75 features a new Stratus Grey finish. Red brake callipers contrast the eye-catching 20-inch gloss Vortex forged lightweight alloys with a dark technical finish and diamond turn. Customers will have the option to apply a unique body graphic that runs from the front bumper to the rear haunches.
The XKR 75″s interior completes the driver-focussed performance environment finished in Charcoal with ivory stitch, piano black finish to facia and centre console and a Jet suedecloth headlining.

2010 Jaguar Goodwood Special XKR

Reports state that there is a hotter version of the Jaguar XKR in the works. The model, which will be based on the one-off Jaguar Goodwood Special XKR, will be powered by an uprated version of the 5.0L supercharged V8 making 523-hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It will also feature a lowered suspension, 21-inch alloy wheels and tweaked exhaust.

“This is definitely not a level of performance anyone would have associated with the XKR before now,” Jaguar boss Mike O’Driscoll told PistonHeads.com.

O’Driscoll expects the hotter XKR to hit a top speed of over 186 mph. No 0-62 mph figures or other specs were given.

At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar will unveil the fastest XK coupe ever with a special edition version of the 510-hp XKR coupe by raising its top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph. The XKR special edition Jaguar XKR coupe will be available with two optional performance and styling packages including Speed Pack and Black Pack.

If buyers are just looking for a speed increase (because that extra 19 mph is just too important not to have), then they can opt for the Speed Pack, which increases the top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph courtesy of some engine and transmission recalibration.

To make sure the XKR coupe remains stable at those speeds, the Speed Pack also adds a front aerodynamic splitter and larger rear spoiler to provide improve balance and a reduction in lift. Jaguar also messed around with the computerized Active Differential Control to reduce steering sensitivity at high speeds. For visual upgrades, the Speed Pack adds body colored side sills and rear diffuser, chrome finish window surrounds, upper/lower mesh grilles, side power vents and boot lid, red brake calipers with a R logo sitting inside 20-inch Kasuga alloy wheels. The Speed Pack also offers 7 unique colors including Ultimate Black, Polaris White, Salsa Red, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Kyanite Blue and Spectrum Blue.

The Black Pack, which can only be ordered in conjunction with the Speed Pack, adds extra exterior detailing with 20-inch gloss black Kalimnos alloy wheels, red brake calipers, a sweeping “˜XKR” side body graphic that runs along the door sills and much more.

JAGUAR TO UNVEIL THE FASTEST XK EVER AT GENEVA SHOW

Jaguar will unveil the latest dramatic evolution of its supercharged XKR coupe at the Geneva Motor Show in March. This XKR delivers a significantly raised maximum speed ““ up to 174mph from 155mph ““ and bold styling changes that create an evocative and unique supercharged Jaguar.

The XKR Coupe unveiled at Geneva showcases two new optional performance and styling packs ““ Speed Pack and Black Pack – that are introduced to the XK range at 2011 Model Year. Jaguar customers have the option to personalise their vehicle to create a car that offers even greater performance without compromising the refinement and luxury for which every Jaguar is renowned.

By raising the XKR”s maximum speed the new car has extended its sporting credentials taking it even further into supercar performance territory.

Russ Varney, Chief Programme Engineer, XK Series, explains the philosophy behind the uprated XKR: “With 510PS and 625Nm of torque, the XKR has immense reserves of power and acceleration which impress everyone who experience it. The car has always had the potential to reach speeds far beyond its original electronically limited maximum and many of our customers have expressed an interest in a car that can safely be driven faster where conditions permit. The new Speed Pack allows them to release some of that potential and give them control of the fastest Jaguar XK we”ve made to date.”

The XKR Coupe featured at the Geneva Show on 4th March 2010 pairs both the optional Speed and Black Packs to create the bold new model, which also sports optional Piano Black veneers on the dashboard and red brake callipers.

The XKR Speed Pack

The XKR Coupe with new optional Speed Pack allows customers to further strengthen their XKR”s already impressive breadth of capability, by extending the car”s top speed from 155mph (250km/h) to an electronically limited 174mph (280km/h) thanks to a unique engine and transmission recalibration.

To ensure the XKR with Speed Pack remains stable at high speeds, the coupe uses a revised front aerodynamic splitter and larger rear spoiler to provide increased balance and a reduction in lift. The XKR”s computerised Active Differential Control also adjusts to reduce steering sensitivity at very high speeds, further improving stability and driver control.

Every XKR with the Speed Pack will come with body-coloured side sills and rear diffuser, and a chrome finish to the window surrounds, upper and lower mesh grilles, side Power Vents and boot lid finisher. Red brake callipers with a Jaguar “˜R” logo sit inside 20-inch Kasuga alloy wheels.

Customers who order the XKR Coupe with the Speed Pack will be offered a paint palette that is part of the Jaguar Designers” Choice programme ““ a range of colours that have been specifically chosen to compliment the performance potential of the car. Seven colours are available on Speed Pack models ““ Ultimate Black, Polaris White, Salsa Red, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Kyanite Blue and Spectrum Blue.

The XKR Speed and Black Pack

For customers looking to create a real statement with their Speed Pack XKR Coupe, the new optional Black Pack allows them to own a bold and purposeful Jaguar with undeniable visual impact thanks to menacing gloss black wheels and exterior detailing.

Available only with the Speed Pack, XKRs fitted with the Black Pack have a paint palette selected from colours that Jaguar”s Design team believe to be ideal for creating a coupe with immediate exclusivity. The Black Pack models will be available in Ultimate Black, Polaris White or Salsa Red and boast eye-catching 20-inch gloss black Kalimnos alloy wheels. Further gloss black finishing is applied to the window surrounds and front grilles. Red painted brake callipers contrast strongly with the black alloy wheels, while body coloured front and rear spoilers and boot lid finisher round out the package. Customers also have the option to apply a sweeping “˜XKR” side body graphic that runs along the door sills.

Jaguar”s Design Director, Ian Callum, says the new Black Pack is a fitting addition to the XKR: “While Jaguars are about beauty, they are also about speed and power. With the optional Black Pack you can now add a sense of drama and severity to that performance.”

In addition to the Black Pack”s exterior changes, the Jaguar Designers” Choice programme has also selected a range of interior trims that support the visual impact of the car. All XKRs with the Black Pack will be trimmed with Charcoal leather hides that can be personalised with a range of colour stitching and grain. Three interior finishes and veneers for the fascia and door trims are also available ““ Dark Oak, Dark Mesh Aluminium and Piano Black.

Other enhancements for 11MY

To underline the XKR’s sporting credentials at 11MY red brake callipers become standard on all XKR Coupe and Convertible models.

A tyre repair Instant Mobility System (IMS) becomes standard on all XK and XKR models. This frees up the 30-litre wheel well, which is now carpeted and can hold a specially designed and tailored XK accessory suitcase, substantially increasing the versatility of the car.

If you recently purchased a 2010 Jaguar XFR or an XKR and are looking for some high-speed driving lessons, Jaguar has just announced the launch of its R Performance Academy. Beginning December 1, Jaguar will offer sessions at Homestead Miami Speedway, which features 2.21 miles of challenging asphalt and 14 turns.

Starting 2010, the Academy will visit various tracks, including the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, New York and the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA, among others, on a quarterly basis.

The 2010 Jaguar XFR and the XKR are powered by a supercharged V8 engine making 510-hp, allowing for a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and 4.6 seconds respectively.

The lessons learned on the racetrack are made relevant to everyday, real world driving by the instructors and will leave Jaguar owners more aware of their vehicles’ abilities and feeling more confident behind the wheel. The 2010 Jaguar XFR is officially more powerful and cheaper than its rivals. Jaguar today announced the pricing on the 2010 XFR with a starting MSRP of $80,000. As you already know, power comes from a 5.4L AJ-V8 GEN III V8 making 510-hp and 461 lb-ft of torque.

That makes the XFR more powerful than the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG which start at $85,500 and $87,700 respectively.

Jaguar also announced pricing for the 2010 XKR which retails for $96,000 for the coupe and $102,000 for the Convertible.

MAHWAH, NJ., February 19, 2009 ““ Jaguar today announced pricing for its 2010 Model Year line up. In January 2009, Jaguar revealed the new 2010 Model Year XF and XK which includes the new XFR, and next generation XKR. Both vehicles are true to the heritage of Jaguar”s legendary performance, delivering a superb balance of dynamic ability and refinement.

The 2010 XF will be priced starting at $52,000 MSRP. The XF Premium, with the new 5.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, will have a base MSRP of $57,000. The new XFR with the 510hp supercharged engine will retail for $80,000 MSRP. Also, taking the details that define luxury to higher standards, the 2010 XF Premium offers a Portfolio Pack for an additional $4,000. The Portfolio Pack offers the most luxurious XF specification, and features the naturally aspirated version of the new 5.0-liter V8.

As for the 2010 XK line up, it will start with a base MSRP of $83,000 (Coupe) and $89,000 (Convertible). The XKR with its 510 horsepower engine will retail for $96,000 (Coupe) MSRP and $102,000 (Convertible) MSRP.

But it is the new powertrain options that are at the heart of the changes for 2010 Model Year. The new AJ-V8 GEN III direct-injection 5.0-liter engines are the most advanced engines Jaguar has ever produced, each offering significant increases in performance and impressive fuel economy. Both deliver more torque and power than the previous generation of engines.

The 2010 Model Year XF and XK models combine effortless high-performance and state-of-the-art powertrains with a new level of advanced technologies, intuitive control and Jaguar”s superbly crafted, new-fashioned luxury interiors. In addition, both models include a number of standard luxury features including navigation, heated front seats and satellite radio.

Jaguar has released two promos for its new high-performance 2010 Jaguar XFR and XKR sedan and coupe. Both models made their debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show earlier this week.

The 510-hp Jaguar XFR will take on rivals such as the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG while the XKR will take on the likes of the BMW M6. Both are powered by a 5.4L AJ-V8. That allows the XFR to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and the XKR in 4.6 seconds.

The first promo shows the XFR and the XKR in action and the second video shows the XFR prototypes 225.675 mph top speed run at Bonneville.

Both models will arrive in the later part of summer 2009.
