On the outside, Brabus’ sister tuner company crafted a subtle aero kit that includes a front apron with LED daytime running lights, side air inlets, trim for the front fender air bents, rocker panels in the rear, a rear diffuser and boot lid spoiler, and stainless-steel tailpipes. The XJ rides on tires sized at 255/35 ZR 21 up front, and 295/30 ZR 21 in the rear, that wrap a new set of forged alloy wheels.

Interior customizations on the inside come with a selection of leather and Alcantara, and a variety of trims, with additional upgrades such as modems for high-speed internet, and electronic tables.

Although there are no power upgrades for this package, Startech did an awesome job on the aesthetic upgrades for the Jaguar XJ.

Jaguar is hard at work to reinvigorate their image after nearly two decades of producing cars that were a little too reminiscent of past. As a result, most people think of Jaguars as luxurious “old-people mobiles.”

But truth be told, Jaguar has a lot of motorsport and high-performance history and pedigree. And to make sure that the future generations know of Jaguar as a performance model, the brand has just released a new television advertisement in the US featuring their latest and greatest high performance cars.

Based out of Stowe, VT, I’m personally smack dab in the middle of the snowbelt; Audis, Subarus, Benzes and BMWs are the bread and butter of everyday car culture. Though there is one brand missing from this equation though and with good reason: Jaguar. A town of 4,000 in rural Vermont might not seem all that important to the famous British marque, but it is a great indicator of the snowbelt, which demands all wheel drive, as indicated by Jag boss Adrian Hallmark:

“In the past all-wheel-drive has meant Audi and Quattro, but now it is something that the market expects…In the snowbelt of America it accounts for 70 per cent of sales, and overall it accounts for 30 per cent of sales, so we are working on it and in the final stages of a decision. It is core to our future offering.”

What does this mean for prospective and current Jaguar owners? There will be all wheel drive XJs and XFs available in the next two years instead of pursuing hybrids, which Jag has decided is something that their customers are not willing to pay for yet.

Jaguar today announced the new XJ Sport and Speed Packages that allow you to cut the elegance crap out of the picture and be a little mean.

“The XJ is much more than a limousine. Its power and potential mean it can out-perform many so-called sports cars,” said Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar Cars. “The new Sport and Speed Packs allow customers to enhance that sporting dynamism even further and create an XJ that looks as good as it drives.”

The Jaguar XJ Sport Pack is available on all engine variants except the XJ Supercharged and includes, aerodynamically optimised styling changes to front and rear, 20-inch alloy wheel design, red painted brake callipers with Jaguar script,  optional sports seating for front and rear passengers, and additional interior trim choices mean even greater color and veneer combinations.

The new Jaguar XJ Speed Pack, which is exclusive to supercharged models increased the electronically limited top speed from 155mph to 174mph.

“A car capable of 174mph must have certain basic attributes – stability, aerodynamics, prodigious power and as little weight as possible,” said Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity. “The XJ is blessed with all these qualities in abundance and with the addition of the Speed Pack it becomes an ever more impressive performance saloon.”

Jaguar is expected to ‘sportify’ its lineup over the next couple of years with a bunch of new additions including a new sports car based on the new C-X16 Concept that was shown at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Jaguar officials say that work is also under way on a new compact sedan but that model is still a few years away from hitting your local Jag dealership.

All this is a part of Tata Motors $2.45 billion investment in Jaguar and Land Rover over the next 5 years to produce new vehicles, engines and beef up the two brand’s production facilities.

The new Jaguar compact sedan that we’ve been hearing about forever will compete with the likes of the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Lexus IS and the upcoming Cadillac ATS. The model is expected arrive sometime in 2014.

The gorgeous Jaguar C-X16 Concept (pictured) is expected to enter production as early as next year as a competitor to the Porsche Cayman/Boxster. Internally, the model is known as the ‘spiritual successor to the E-Type.’

While the Jaguar XF recently received a refresh, the larger Jaguar XJ will be getting its refresh in 2013.

Of course, we already know that the Jaguar C-X75 will be entering production, Only 250 units will be built with prices ranging from $1.2 million to $1.5 million.

In order to keep up with tough German competition, Jaguar plans on releasing all-wheel driver versions of the XF and XJ models sometime in the next three years.

Apart from these upcoming models, the only other Jaguar that came with all-wheel drive was the X-Type, which was built on a different platform. Adrain Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director, notes that taking the rear-wheel drive models and making them all-wheel is an extremely high cost move, but says it is a necessary change for the automaker.

Not only are the German luxury brands a concern, but some of Jaguar’s best markets are in areas that benefit from an all-wheel drive car, which are along the east coast.

While the XJ is doing well against the other vehicles in the segment, there is still room for improvement, and the XF hasn’t done well since its 2008 launch. The addition of all-wheel drive should help boost sales numbers and improve ratios against brands like BMW and Audi.

Four-door convertibles haven’t really existed since the 1960s, since the days of the Lincoln Continental. However, over the years there have been many efforts completed by individual coachbuilders. And here’s another one.

Newport Convertible Engineering decided to take an all-new Jaguar XJ and cut its head off. Based specifically on the long-wheelbase XJ L, Newport said they tackled their hardest job yet and fitted the XJ with folding origami.

Though demand is rather questionable for Newport’s XJ L convertible, especially since it starts at around $130,000. So if you’re specifically in the market for a new Jaguar XJ L convertible, then Newport will cater well to you. But for everything else, there’s much more you can get for $130,000.

According to Jaguar boss Adrian Hallmark, the brand is looking to overhaul its badging to a more logical alpha-numeric hierarchy instead of the old XJ-based naming scheme.

“If you know us, you understand our badging. Otherwise it’s confusing,” said boss Adrian Hallmark.

A joke going around at recent C-X75 press event was the idea of naming the production version of the supercar in the same style as the XJ220. The 220 in the name would stand for the C-X75′s top speed in mph. However the C-X75 will have a top speed of 205 mph, but in kilometres per hour, 205 mph translates to XJ330, which sounds a lot faster than the C-X75 really is.

The production version of the Jaguar C-X75 has been confirmed. Only 250 units will be made.

2011 Jaguar XJ

This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about an entry-level Jaguar, but here are some official details on the upcoming Jaguar model. According to Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s Global Brand Director, the sub-£30,000 premium vehicle market is ‘four times the size’ of the market for sedans priced above £30,000 – making an entry-level Jaguar very essential.

Sources inside the company say that the model will be slightly smaller than the XF sedan but will still be big enough to fit 5 adults. No word on whether the car will be build on an aluminum platform, but the next XF will almost certainly be made from aluminum.

Jaguar has also confirmed that an all-wheel-drive version of the large XJ sedan is currently under development. The model is expected to be launched in under 24 months.

Jag believes that although all-wheel-drive models only account for 20 percent of all cars sold in the United States, the proportion moves up to 70 percent in Northern ‘snowbelt’ states where Jaguar has had strong sales.

StarTech Jaguar XJ

StarTech, a German tuning company, has announced that it is now offering modification packages for Land Rover and Jaguar models in the United States.

In StarTech’s portfolio, you’ll find customized exterior and interior packages for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Both models get 22-inch StarTech Monostar IV alloy wheels and custom-tailored body components. StarTech also provides a range of options including full leather interiors and wood-finished trunks.

StarTech also offers customization options for the Jaguar XK and XKR models with 21-inch wheels, lower ride height and a number of interior options. It will debut a new tuning kit for the Jaguar XJ at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

StarTech has setup a new branch of the company in Irvine, Calif., to supply the North American market.

We’ve been hearing a lot about Jaguar’s future product plans as of recently. It’s been reported in the past couple of weeks that Jaguar, the Tata Motors owned brand, is planning a direct competitor to the BMW 3-Series (hinted by the new Jaguar B99 Concept by Bertone), a BMW 1-Series hatchback rival, a Jaguar XJ Coupe and a Jaguar crossover based on the Range Rover Evoque.

When can we expect to see these models on the roads? The folks over at AutoCar have put together a little list detailing Jaguar’s product plans for the next 12 years.

But now they have some great cars that will hopefully attract buyers from the stoic Germans and humdrum Japanese benchmarks. That said, there are many plans for expansion, thanks to the deep pockets of Carl-Peter Forster, CEO of Tata Motors and recently appointed senior brand manager, Adrian Hallmark, who formerly led the ambitions of Volkswagen AG.

In an interview with our friends at Automobile Mag, newly appointed marketing officer for Land Rover, John Edwards said that efforts for the next entry level Land Rover as well as the middle model Discovery/LR4 replacement are underway with ways to increase platform and component sharing. There is even word on talks about reintroducing the Defender to the lineup (YES!). For Jaguar, Edwards also said that as part of their expansion, the Range Rover Evoque is being heavily considered as a new entry-level crossover that will compete with the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK.

For Jaguar, a facelifted XF as well as a sleek estate version are the next new things to come from Jaguar later this year as well as a more affordable two-seater sports car for 2013. Logically, that should be pinned against the likes of the Boxster, the Z4, SLK and the lot. But wait, there’s more! Hallmark even spoke of all-new entry-level models to compete with the BMW 3er, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class. And lastly in the works is a four-door coupe XJ Coupe model that Hallmark says will be “much more dynamic and emotional than a Mercedes CL.” Now that’s a tall order considering the success of the CLS and, well, it’s a piece of art that will no handedly go down as one of the greatest looking cars of all time.

A heck of a lot to look forward to since the British manufacturers are yearning for more mainstream action. I especially look forward to that new XJ Coupe plan. The last time the Leaping Cat made an XJ coupe was the 1970s with the XJ-C lineup, which is brilliant looking to this day. A British sports-luxury four-door coupe? Sign me up!

2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe

Automobile Magazine has announced the list finalists for the 2011 Automobile Magazine Automobile of the Year. The winner of the award will be revealed on Facebook on Nov. 16.

“Contenders for this year’s award represent a diverse mix of what the automotive industry is currently offering consumers,” Automobile Magazin said. “In fact, for the first time in AUTOMOBILE Magazine’s history, electric cars are included in the running, alongside traditional gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles.”

“The AUTOMOBILE Magazine Automobile of the Year is a car that is groundbreaking and establishes new standards in design, performance, engineering, and/or technology. The Automobile of the Year is an enthusiast’s car,” said Joe DeMatio, Deputy Editor of AUTOMOBILE Magazine. “Essentially, we are looking for a car with a story.”

Refresher: The 2010 Jaguar XJ is available in four trim-levels including XJ XJL, XJ/XJL Supercharged and XJ/XJL Supercharged. The lineup consists of three powertrains including a 385-hp naturally aspirated 5.0L AJ-V8 GEN III (available on the XJ and XJL models), the 470-hp 5.0L Supercharged AJ-V8 GEN III (available on the XJ/XJL Supercharged) and the 510-hp 5.0L Supercharged 5.0L AJ-V8 GEN III (available on the XJ/XJL Supersport). Jaguar XJ Sentinel

Jaguar will be stepping in on BMW’s armored vehicles territory with the new XJ Sentinel, which will make its debut at the 2010 Moscow Motor Show.

“The XJ Sentinel is the ultimate armored luxury limousine. It offers governments, security organizations and private individuals, the highest level of security, with advanced design, refined performance and a beautifully-crafted cabin. The XJ Sentinel will be the vehicle of choice for the most discerning,” said Mike O”Driscoll, Managing Director, Jaguar Cars.

Not many are aware, but Jaguar and Land Rover both have extensive experience in armored vehicles. So with that in mind, you’re probably wondering what the XJ Sentinel will actually save you from. Jaguar says that the armored inner cell, which was developed in partnership with Centigon, “offers ballistic protection up to B7 level (BS EN 1522 level FB7 and BS EN 1063 BR7-), blast protection against 15kg TNT equivalent detonated within close proximity of the vehicle and substantial under floor grenade protection.”

If words aren’t good enough for you, Jaguar says that XJ Sentinel meets the latest national and international standards for an armored vehicles and was certified by QinetiQ, an internationally recognized independent blast and ballistic testing organization.

Power for the Jaguar XJ Sentinel comes from the company’s 5.0L V8 AJ-V8 GEN III making 380-hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. That allows you to run away from fire action from 0 to 62 mph in 9.7 seconds with a top seed of 121 mph. Yes, it’s fairly slow.

Jaguar is launching an armoured version of its stunning new XJ luxury sports saloon at the 2010 Moscow International Motor Show.

The new XJ Sentinel offers the ultimate in discreet protection, being virtually indistinguishable from the standard XJ model, yet featuring a state-of-the-art armouring package which provides occupants with up to B7 levels of ballistic protection.
