Jaguar has just launched a high-performance Police vehicle based on the XF Diesel S model.

“Police forces are looking for vehicles that represent value for money, have good environmental credentials and deliver the power and performance required of a pursuit vehicle,” said Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director for Jaguar Cars.

The first ever Police-spec XF is currently being evaluated by Police forces across the UK. Power comes from the 3.0L Diesel S engine making 275-hp with a parallel sequential turbocharger system. 0 to 60 mph comes in 5.9 seconds and fuel-economy figures are estimated at 42 mpg (35 mpg in U.S. terms).

The Jaguar XF Diesel S is on sale now with prices starting at £36,900.

• 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds; top speed of 155 mph.

• Estimated fuel-economy of 42mpg (35 mpg U.S.).

Prior to the launch of the Jaguar XF-R which is scheduled for the 2009 Detroit Motor Show next month, Jaguar has dropped the details on the new 2010 Jaguar XF Diesel S.

Powered by the most advanced, powerful and efficient Jaguar diesel engine ever, the 275-hp XF V6 diesel can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and 50 to 70 mph in 3.2 seconds. Even with that performance level, the XF Diesel S averages an estimated fuel-economy of 35 mpg. Jaguar says that it is 12 percent more efficient than the 2.7L V6 diesel XF and offers 33 percent more power and 61 percent more torque. The engine is mated to Jaguar’s 6-speed ZF 6HP28 automatic transmission.

There is also a 240-hp version of the 3.0L diesel engine available as well. It gets 16 percent more power and 15 percent more torque over the 2.7L diesel. 0 to 60 mph comes in just 6.7 seconds while fuel-economy comes in at the same 35 mpg.

Pricing for the 2010 Jaguar XF Diesel S and the 2010 Jaguar XF Diesel will be announced closer to its launch date. Unfortunately, there is no word whether the models will make it to the U.S. to take on the upcoming BMW 535d.

We’ve known for a while that Jaguar plans on expanding on its successful XF range. Expected early next year is the 500-hp Jaguar XF-R which will make its debut a the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. According to AutoExpress, parent company Tata Motors has confirmed and greenlighted a coupe and a two-door convertible version of the XF as well.

The convertible XF will feature a folding fabric roof along with a slightly shorter wheelbase. The coupe is said to be more aggressive looking yet curvy like the Audi A5.

The Jaguar XF coupe and convertible will both share the XF sedan’s engine lineup including diesel and gasoline units. Both models are expected to make their debuts in 2010.

Detaching itself from Ford and introducing cars like the Jaguar XF, the British automaker has found new life and is looking to introduce some interesting models that could set aside the elegant and luxury image for the pussycat on the hood.

New owner Tata Motors is considering adding three new vehicles to the Jaguar lineup reports Automotive News Europe. The lineup includes a new coupe, a roadster variant of the new XF sedan and a new lightweight sports car that will compete with the Porsche Boxster. The 500-hp Jaguar XF-R is expected to debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.

According to a dealer familiar with the plans, the coupe and roadster will be positioned below the Jaguar XK. The coupe will be unveiled next year followed by the roadster a year later.

Dealers also said that Tata is not planning a Jaguar SUV since it would compete with the Land Rover brand.

Arden offers power upgrades for all four versions of the XF including the 2.7 liter V6 diesel all the way up to the Supercharged 4.2 liter V8. Power for the top-of-the-line XF is increased to 500 horses with a peak torque of 472 lb-ft.

Also, we highly doubt that Jaguar will offer as many aerodynamic and visual upgrades as Arden. The Arden AJ 21 comes with a very large front grille, front spoiler and large intakes. Arden has also added LED foglamps – Audi style. The package also includes new side skirts, a new lid spoiler and a set of 21-inch wheels.

Power is said to come from a 5.0L V8 engine with the ability to pump out 500-hp.

Previous reports have said that power will come from an uprated version of the 4.2L supercharged V8 currently used on the range-topper version of the XF.

Jaguar is celebrating 60 years of the XK nameplate at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend. However, the now Tata Motors owned company decided to let a new cat out of the cage today giving us a first official look at the new Jaguar XF-R .

Jaguar had planned to bring the XF-R alongside the XKR-S this morning during the Supercar Run but couldn’t find the man with the keys. Jaguar’s vehicle development head Mike Cross took the car out later on during the day and was able to fit in two laps.

The Jaguar XF-R is expected to be powered by the same 4.2 liter supercharged V8 engine as the current range-topping XF but has been re-calibrated to produce up to 500-hp.
