Infiniti’s BMW 3-Series competitor, the G37 has continued to prove itself as a worthy competitor the German standard. And to give the G37 a closer edge towards BMW’s M-Division, the brand has just introduced their “Infiniti Performance Line” G37 Convertible here today at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

“The Infiniti Performance Line, as demonstrated by our first offering, the IPL G Coupe, challenges the concept of ultra-high cost sports series. IPL pushes the premium performance envelope for buyers seeking a higher level of exclusivity and driving exhilaration, but does so with an Infiniti twist,” said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. “Like every Infiniti, the new IPL G Convertible takes a different path from its established competitors, with its retractable hardtop that is designed to look as good with the top up as down. It’s a terrific addition to the Infiniti Performance Line, taking the dramatic Infiniti G Convertible to an even higher level.”

Originally unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance earlier this year, the Infiniti IPL G37 Convertible finally makes its world production debut.

Sales begin in Spring 2012.

Infiniti has announced pricing details on the 2012 Infiniti G Line which now includes the G25 Sedan, G37 Sedan, G37 Coupe, G37 Convertible and IPL G Coupe. All models are on sale now at Infiniti retailers nationwide.

For the 2012 model year, the Infiniti G continues to be offered in three body configurations – G Sedan, G Coupe and G Convertible, each powered by a 3.7 liter V6 and a 2.5 liter V6 (G25 Sedan) and the G Coupe is available in the Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) equipped, higher horsepower IPL G Coupe.

The 2.5 liter V6 in the G25 Sedan produces 218-hp with a peak torque of 187 lb-ft. The G37 models are powered by a 3.7 liter V8 making 328-hp and 269 lb-ft.

The 2012 Infiniti G sedan now gets a content refresh to the Limited Edition and Sport Appearance Edition models. The G37 Limited Edition gets a new Graphite interior color (replaces the Monaco Red interior), a Black Obsidian exterior color and dark-finish 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The G37 Sport Appearance Edition model changes include a new Midnight Black grille. Other 2012 changes include one new exterior color, Malbec Black, for all models except the G25, Limited Edition and Sport Appearance Edition. The Infiniti G37 Coupe and IPL G Coupe get no major changes for 2012. The 2012 Infiniti G37 Convertible gets no Limited Edition Package.

At the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance today, Infiniti announced that it will adding the Infiniti G37 Convertible to its Infiniti Performance Line lineup. The 2013 Infiniti IPL G Convertible joins the Infiniti IPL G Coupe, which starts at $47,950.

“The Infiniti Performance Line, as demonstrated by our first offering, the IPL G Coupe, challenges the concept of an ultra-high cost sports series. INFINITI ANNOUNCES 2013 IPL G CONVERTIBLE

Infiniti today announced that it will double its Infiniti Performance Line lineup of premium performance vehicles in spring 2012 with the addition of a new 2013 IPL G Convertible. More than just focusing on engine power and acceleration, the Infiniti Performance Line, or IPL, product design philosophy focuses on “total vehicle performance,” including unique driving attributes and exclusive exterior and interior features at highly attractive price points.

The IPL G Convertible announcement was made by Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance where the IPL G Convertible Concept is currently on display. The IPL G Convertible Concept features unique aerodynamic styling, the dynamic performance of an IPL-tuned V6, exhaust and suspension, 19-inch IPL aluminum-alloy wheels, three-piece retractable hardtop and a unique red leather-appointed interior set against a Malbec Black exterior – a level of equipment and performance modification expected to be shared with the production IPL G Convertible.

The new IPL G Convertible is based on the foundation of the Infiniti G37 Convertible, which features an advanced 3.7-liter V6 and three-piece power retractable hardtop that’s designed to look as good with the top up as it does down.

“Like every Infiniti, the new IPL G Convertible will take a different path from its established competitors,” added Poore. “It’s a terrific addition to the Infiniti Performance Line, taking the dramatic Infiniti G Convertible to an even higher level.”

Additional information on the 2013 IPL G Convertible will be available during the production version debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Infiniti has announced pricing on the 2011 Infiniti G Coupe and G Convertible, which go on sale November 10th at Infiniti retailers nationwide. Pricing for the 2011 model year G37 Coupe starts at $36,200, an increase of just $150 over model year 2010. The 2011 Infiniti G37 Convertible starts at $44,500. Sport Package is now available on the all-wheel drive model and Navigation Package now joins Premium Package as standard on the Sport 6MT model. In addition, there are new 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs.

All 2011 Infiniti G37 model continue to get their power from a 3.7L V6 that produces 332-hp and 269 lb-ft.

Consumer Reports gave the Infiniti G37 Convertible, Lexus IS 250C and the Audi A5 Cabriolet convertibles an overall score of “Very Good,” topping Consumer Reports’ tests of three four-seat convertibles for the May 2010 issue. The publication also tested two less expensive convertibles including the Mazda MX-5 Miata and the Mini Cooper S Convertible.

The Infiniti G37 Convertible and IS 250C earned “Very Good” overall road-test scores of 77, slightly beating the Audi A5 convertible, which earned a test score of 74. All three convertibles beat other’s competitors including the previously tested Volkswagen Eos (78) and BMW 328i (76) .

“The G37 has many of the qualities CR”s testers like in the sedan configuration. The IS 250 should satisfy those looking for a refined and easygoing convertible, making both of them good choices,” said David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports” Auto Test Center in East Haddam, Connecticut.

In the convertibles tested, Consumer Reports only gave the Miata a “Recommended” rating since it said it doesn’t have sufficient reliability data on the IS 250C, A5, G37 Convertible, and Cooper S Convertible.

Infiniti announced today that it will offer four new G Anniversary Editions to celebrate 20 years of selling vehicles in the United States.

“These unique and very limited editions represent what Infiniti is all about ““ Inspired Performance,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “Building on the popularity of the Monaco Red Leather and special Red-toned Maple interior that helped launch the G Convertible, the Anniversary Editions add a number of new styling touches that will make them instantly recognizable on the showroom floor and on the road.”

The G Anniversary Editions are based on the G Sedan Journey and AWD, G Coupe Journey and G Convertible. All are powered by the 3.7L V6 engine making 328-hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Premium and Navigation Packages are standard on all of the Anniversary Editions.

Sales of the G Anniversary models will begin next month with prices starting at $43,350.

The Anniversary Editions are based on the G Sedan Journey and AWD, G Coupe Journey and G Convertible and come standard with a 3.7-liter V6 engine and 7-speed automatic transmission. Premium and Navigation Packages are included on all of the Anniversary Editions.

The Anniversary Edition Sedans and Coupe also receive the Sport Package and 4-Wheel Active Steer (not available on Sedan AWD). The Convertible is offered with the highly desirable climate-controlled seats.

Each Anniversary Edition comes in a new Graphite Shadow exterior color that was just added for 2010, with the interiors appointed with Monaco Red Leather. The Coupe and Convertible interiors are accented with special Red-toned Maple and the two Sedans have the new Shodo-finish aluminum trim.

Now in its second model year, Infiniti today announced pricing on the 2010 G37 Convertible, which is now on sale at Infiniti dealers nationwide. For 2010, the Infiniti G37 Convertible gets a revised interior, upgraded navigation and entertainment systems, power-folding outside mirrors and the addition of the previous Premium Package equipment as standard for the G Convertible Sport 6MT model (a $3,050 value).

The most significant change, however, is the pricing of the 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible. Prices start at $44,350 for the G37 Convertible with a 7-speed automatic, an increase of $500 over the 2009 model. The 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible Sport 6MT with a 6-speed manual now starts at $46,950, an increase of $3,050 – of course, as mentioned above, the range-topping model now includes the previously optional Premium Package as standard.

Power for the 2010 Infiniti G37 Convertible still comes from the 325-hp 3.7L V6 with VVEL.

The G Convertible features a number of significant enhancements for its second model year, including a revised interior, upgraded navigation and entertainment systems, power-folding outside mirrors and the addition of the previous Premium Package equipment as standard for the G Convertible Sport 6MT model (a $3,050 value).

2009 Infiniti G37 S Convertible (Weekly Test-Drive):

Pat (in e-mail) How many miles per gallon are you getting and how is the handling?

We are averaging 18.5 mpg and handling so far is very impressive. Taking turns at high-speeds makes you feel very confident.

gigan: Compared to this, I can see how people think Acuras have too many buttons. However, I wonder if it is bc Acura has more toys to play w/?

The Infiniti G37 S Convertible has a lot of toys to play with as well; although it’s very simple to navigate around the technological features offered unlike Audi’s confusing MMI system.

Bob: During your “test drive” can you try to flex the body on the G37. I am curious is the cobvertible will have any rattles or sqeaks as the car is brought over bumps. Please try to find a ramp such as a up or down ramp going into a hotel or shopping center. Slowly approach allow one front wheel to drop low / or higher while the rest of the car is level then slowly take the ramp see if there is any flexing creak or squeals coming from the hardtop. You can also do this with some driveways that go downhill then drop to the street.

I had a 2005 G35x that I named “RattleRocket” after the first two years. Everything rattled and sqeaked on that car. I now have an 2008 G37 which is a huge improvment in interior quality and rattles and squeaks. I am considering a 2010 G37 Convertible or another G37 coupe in the spring and I am curious if that hardtop will be quiet enough for me. Trust me I will take the car on a long test drive myself, but this is stuff that you should be looking for in a car.

Second question is how is the 7-speed ? My 2008 has the 5-speed and the car now only has 15,000 miles and sometimes I swear the damn thing slips and sometimes I feel a bit feedback not when changing gears but simply accelerating in gear. Still the G37 rules over any other car that is why I still purchased a second one after my first “RattleRocket”. Hopefully Infiniti is continuously improving quality and I will be a third time return buyer.

“RattleRocket” – very creative. Indeed we have noticed that in previous Infiniti ‘G’ cars we’ve driven. However, that noise is minimized in the convertible. Nonetheless, it is still there. In terms of interior noise, the G37 Convertible is fairly quiet – very quiet when compared to other hard-top convertibles we’ve driven.

The 7-speed automatic transmission – well I hate it. It denies you downshifts and even upshifts. I would rather get a car like this in a manual-transmission but our test-car happens to be a 7-speed automatic and it’s very annoying. However, it does shift pretty fast.

The chilly weather has been fairly forgiving this week as we test-drive our 2009 Infiniti G37 S Convertible. Today we’re going to give you a little tour around the inside of the new Infiniti G37 drop-top.

“This new G has dual beauty ““ it looks as good with the top up or down ““ along with a beautiful, leather-appointed interior that is meant to be experienced wide-open,” says Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing – and we definitely have to agree.

The interior is very comfortable and controls are very ergonomically placed. We know we say that about a lot of cars but Infiniti definitely focused their attention on keeping the controls very driver oriented. One thing we didn’t like are the seat-adjusting controls; you basically have to keep the door open to be able to toggle around to adjust your seats to your liking. With the door-closed it’s nearly impossible to mess around with the seat settings.

The $3,050 Premium Package gets you Bluetooth, a Bose sound system with 13-speakers, memory seats, iPod connectivity, advanced climate control, a power-tilt telescopic steering column and automatic dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink. Opt for the $1,850 Navigation Package and you can enjoy Infiniti’s Hard Drive Navigation System with 7-inch color touch-screen, XM NavTraffic with Real-Time Traffic information, 9.3GB Music Box hard drive with a CompactFlash slot and Infiniti’s Voice Recognition for climate control, audio and navigation. The $1,150 Technology Package adds Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking, Adaptive Front lighting System and Pre-Crash Seat Belts.

Yes, we know it’s purple; and yes, we know it’s an automatic – but it’s still beautiful. Joining the 2010 GMC Terrain this week in our Weekly-Test Drive is the new 2009 Infiniti G37 S Convertible.

First Impressions: It is one of the most beautiful coupes we’ve seen converted into a convertible. The 2009 G37 Convertible is Infiniti’s direct answer to BMW’s 3-Series Convertible and Lexus’s new IS-C. The hard-top convertible has definitely turned a lot of heads since we picked it up earlier today, especially from the ladies. Of course, that most likely does not mean you will attract girls with a purple convertible; more like girls are attracted to your purple G37 Convertible and can see themselves driving one. The interior is the same exact way you see it on the G37 Coupe, which is ergonomically designed with quality materials. We love the Bose speakers placed in the head rests – but most of all, we love pushing the 3.7L V6 that pumps out 325-hp with a maximum torque of 267 lb-ft. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic with a manual shift mode with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. 0 to 60 mph comes in a whopping 5.3 seconds.

Infiniti today announced the pricing details on the 2009 G37 Convertible. Scheduled to go on sale on June 19th, the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible will start at $43,850 for the 7-speed automatic model with paddle-shifters and $43,900 for the G37 Convertible Sport 6MT.

Buyers can opt for the Premium Package, which will cost $3,250 on the 7-speed automatic model and $3,050 on the Sport 6MT. The Navigation Package and the Technology Package are priced at $1,850 and $1,150 respectively. A Sport Package is also available for $1,350 ($1,550 when chosen without the Premium Package).

Illuminated kick plates will run you $330 while a rear deck spoiler will cost you $830. If you want to spice up the wheels, get ready to cash out an additional $2,200 for the 19-inch wheels and $370 for the R Spec High Friction brake pads.

(June 4, 2009) – Infiniti has announced pricing on the newest addition to the Infiniti lineup, all-new G37 Convertible, which is scheduled to go on sale June 19th at Infiniti retailers nationwide. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is $43,850 for the G37 Convertible and $43,900 for the G37 Convertible Sport 6MT.

The first-ever G Convertible features a three-piece power retractable hardtop engineered to deliver styling that looks as good with the top up as down. The exclusive convertible-focused interior offers standard leather-appointed seats and is available with a Bose® Open Air Sound System, front seat Personal Speakers, climate-controlled front seats and an adaptive climate control system that adjusts fan speed in accordance to top position and vehicle speed.

We first saw the 2010 Lexus IS 250C at the 2008 Paris Auto Show. Now its more powerful sibling, the 350C, has made its debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show. Rival Infiniti also dropped the top on its 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible starting an all out war of two-door luxury Japanese convertibles.

Infiniti dropped the top on its 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible today at the 2008 LA Auto Show and we were quite impressed until we found out it takes 30 seconds for it to drop its top. We’re not going to make a big deal about something so minuscule since it can be forgotten by the cars good-looks.

It will go on sale in North America in spring of 2009 and will be available in two models including the G37 Convertible and the G37S Convertible Sport 6MT, which adds sport-tuned steering and larger sport brakes, along with 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and W-rated performance tires. First-ever Infiniti G Convertible Set For Spring 2009 Launch in North America.

LOS ANGELES (Nov. 19, 2008) ““ Infiniti today unveiled the latest expression of its “Inspired Performance,” the all-new 2009 Infiniti G Convertible, at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. The first-ever Infiniti G Convertible builds upon the performance legacy of the Infiniti G line, with the liberation only a convertible with the top down can provide. It is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti dealers in North America in the spring of 2009, followed later in other Infiniti markets around the world.

“Designed to rejuvenate the spirit, the G Convertible adds an open-air soundtrack to the G”s legendary driving exhilaration,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, speaking before automotive media at the vehicle”s world debut. “This new G has dual beauty ““ it looks as good with the top up or down ““ along with a beautiful, leather-appointed interior that is meant to be experienced wide-open.”

The new G Convertible offers a three-piece folding steel top and a special convertible-focused interior, which features a unique Bose® Open Air Sound System that dynamically changes equalization based on outside noise, vehicle speed, and top position, and an adaptive climate control system that adjusts fan speed in accordance to top position and vehicle speed.

Every 2009 G Convertible comes equipped with an advanced 3.7-liter V6 rated at 325 horsepower. The engine is backed by a choice of an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with available magnesium paddle shifters or a responsive close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.

Technology features include standard RearView Monitor and an available touch-screen Infiniti Navigation system with XM NavTraffic® Real-Time Traffic information with 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive, Pre-Crash Seat Belts, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) with Preview Braking and Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS).

The G Convertible is offered in two models: the G37 Convertible and the G37S Convertible Sport 6MT, which adds sport-tuned steering and larger sport brakes, along with 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and W-rated performance tires.

Also available is a special, limited production G Convertible Premier Edition, offered exclusively through the Bloomingdale”s Holiday Catalog. With only 200 being built, the Premier Edition features a custom Monaco Red Leather leather-appointed interior, handcrafted red-tone Maple Wood trim, Midnight Black front grille and 9-spoke 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and tires. Pre-orders for the Premier Edition are being taken now for delivery in 2009.

The Infiniti display at the Los Angeles Auto Show also showcases the complete line of 2009 Infiniti vehicles, including the all-new Infiniti G37x Coupe with intelligent all-wheel drive, the new G37 Sedan with a 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 and a new, more powerful M35 rear-wheel drive sedan.

The 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible will make its public debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show in about 2 and a half weeks. Following that it will go on sale in mid-2009. However for those wishing to pay a little extra for some exclusiveness can order theirs on Nov. 10.

Nissan has teamed up with Bloomingdale’s to offer the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible Premier Edition through the company’s annual holiday catalog. Besides the 330-hp 3.7L V6, the Premier Edition G37 Convertible gets a dark gray Platinum Graphite exterior, exclusive Monaco Red leather-trimmed interior with hand-crafted, red-stained genuine maple wood trim, and a special grille and 19-inch aluminum wheels.

Interested buyers can order via phone on Nov 10. at 12:00pm CST. But you better have fast fingers since there will only be 200 Premier Edition models made.

Let’s take a little break from Paris coverage and live images. Actually it’s still Paris related since Infiniti is showing their European onslaught of vehicles and has confirmed that the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible will be coming to Europe by dropping this second teaser.

The hardtop Infiniti G37 Convertible will be powered by a 3.7 liter V6 engine that produces 328-hp and is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

We’ll get to see the full thing next month at the 2008 LA Auto Show after which it will arrive in showroom in mid-2009.

The 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible will go on sale in mid-2009. When we bring you the live pictures of the hard-top convertible from the LA Auto Show in November, you’ll see that it’ll look a little longer and a little wider. That’s because designer Shiro Nakamura and his team wanted to maintain the good proportions of the car while trying to camouflage the tall trunk that was required to store the top.

“There were lots of discussions with engineers and suppliers. By slightly widening, slightly lengthening the car, it all balances fine,” said Nakamura at an Infiniti press event.

Infiniti replaced all the sheet metal from the end of the doors all the way to the end of the cars. Designers added new fender flares, widened the rear track and redesigned the taillights. No official dimensions are available as of yet but Nakamura says the G37 convertible is several inches longer than the coupe and looks very different from the rear-quarter view.

Power will come from the 3.7 liter V6 engine that produces 328-hp which will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
