The Fast & Furious epic of vehicular drama is continuing full throttle with the upcoming sixth and seventh both being filmed at the same time.

Film number six has not even begun filming yet, but with complex story line and a growing cast, screen writer Chris Morgan ended up with a 110 page script that, according to main character Vin Diesel, the studio said simply wasn’t going to work in just one movie.

“With the success of this last one,” Diesel told The Hollywood Reporter during a photo shoot, “and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space.”

After pulling down $626 million worldwide at the box office with number 5, there is no surprise that everyone involved in the project has no problem rushing forward. Both sequels may be filmed simultaneously, keeping director Justin Lin on the project, along with signing all the actors up for both six and seven. This should help keep costs down, and with these high-grossing films continually rolling into theatres, bet on seeing even bigger better action, and hotter cars.

The bonus here is that there are whispers that the Autobahn could be making an appearance in the upcoming films, with shooting in Germany. Expect to see Fast & Furious 6 in theatres by May 2013, and the seventh hitting theatres as soon as 2014.

If you happened to catch Fast Five in the theaters earlier this year and stayed in the theater until after credits you probably saw a nice little setup for the six installment in the go-fast, underground racing series. During the scene, Eve Mendez walks up to Dwayne Johnson and shows him a file containing a picture of Letty (aka Michelle Rodriguez), Dom’s (Vin Diesel) girlfriend, who apparently passed away earlier in part 4. The leads us to believe that Letty never passed away and that part six of the Fast and Furious series will be about her return to the team.

NBC Universal has just confirmed that the sixth film in The Fast and Furious Series will hit theaters on May 24, 2013.

Surprisingly, the film won’t open in April – both Fast & Furious and Fast Five opened to a record-breaking day in April. By moving the release date to late May, we guess Universal is betting that the series is strong enough to kick off the summer movie season.

Also Universal has promised that the franchise will continue to evolve from its car roots into a “heist action” series.

Fast Five

While we weren’t expecting much from the fifth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, we were pretty much blown away when we went to catch the flick on opening day. Following its box-office crushing performance last week in Britain, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, Fast Five opened in North America this past weekend and swamped the competition.

Fast Five raked in an outstanding $83.6 million during its opening weekend in North America.

Comparatively, in 2009 Fast and Furious (the fourth part in the series) opened with a $71 million weekend and set the record for any film ever opening in April. Fast Five is easily the biggest opening for any film in 2011 so far – even bigger than the combined numbers of Rio ($39.2 million) and Hop ($37.5 million) which had been 2011′s top two until Fast Five.

Dodge has announced a new multi-part partnership with Universal Pictures to support the launch of Fast Five and the 2011 Dodge Charger.

Dodge has supplied many 2010 and 2011 Dodge Charger vehicles used in car chase scenes throughout Fast Five and is sponsoring a Dodge/Fast Five commercial that will air for the first time tomorrow during the coveted Final Four advertising space (you can check it out now after the jump).

When he is assigned to track down Dom and Brian, he and his strike team launch an all-out assault to capture them. But as his men tear through Brazil, Hobbs learns he can’t separate the good guys from the bad. Now, he must rely on his instincts to corner his prey… before someone else runs them down first.

There was The Fast and the Furious; then there was 2 Fast 2 Furious; then there was The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift: and then we received the big bang with the Fast and Furious. Well, it’s not over yet. Universal has just set film release dates for 2011 and 2012 and Fast Five - considered to the sequel of Fast and Furious – is scheduled to be released on June 10, 2011.

The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Elsa Pataky and Tyrese Gibson are all coming back for the fifth installment of the franchise.

It seems like the Fast and Furious franchise still has some gas in its tank. According to IGN Movies, Universal has confirmed a fifth installment of the series with the title being “Fast Five.”

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker will be back for part five along with director Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz. Variety is reporting the writer Chris Morgan will also come back to write for the film.

The plot will consist of “Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen.

Part four, “Fast & Furious.” was the highest-grossing movie in the series bringing in $350 million worldwide.

Most likely influenced by the movie itself, thieves stole the blue Nissan Skyline from the Fast & Furious movie from a storage facility in Sun Valley, Los Angeles. Thieves reportedly stole the car in a matter of 10 minutes.

The car was actually a Skyline GT-S model that had been modified to look like a turbocharged Nissan GT-R. It took professional driver Chris Milano about two years to built the car for its movie debut (in the movie it took O’Connor only 10 seconds to finish the car).

The thieves stole the car Monday night after getting through metal doors and sideswiping a Studebaker and Porsche Boxster on their way out. The car is estimated to carry a price tag of $75,000 and was not insured.

Paul Walker has revealed that him and Vin Diesel are going to return for the fifth installment to  the Fast and Furious franchise. The new Fast and Furious (part 4) broke many records bringing in $72.5 million on its opening day

“This was supposed to be it. There wasn’t supposed to be the open-ended closing like there was,” Walker told MYfm’s Valentine. ”But without question, with the way things opened up, Vin and I will be coming back, we’re making a fifth one, and we’re going to Brazil, that’s it.”

Walker did not say why Diesel did not return for the second installment. Walker said that the fourth installment of the movie was actually the “first true sequel” to the original film.

Besides the storyline and the return of the original cast, I was pretty excited to see the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe make its onscreen debut in “Fast & Furious.” However, I was very disappointed when I didn’t even catch a glimpse of the two-door Hyundai sports car.

According to Miles Johnson, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe was “ready to go.” He said that he thinks another manufacturer blocked Hyundai from appearing in the fourth installment of the franchise (we’re guessing it was Subaru with their Impreza WRX STI).

Apparently Hyundai never got the official word from Universal Pictures. He said that Hyundai had “a few running prototypes, and the red turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder Genesis Coupe SE” had been prepped just for the filming of the movie.

Johnson said that the 2010 Genesis Coupe was also scheduled to appear in the opening sequence with Vin Diesel.

So we’re pretty sure that if you read eGMCarTech you went out and saw “Fast & Furious” this weekend. Well, apparently many are surprised that the movie raked in $72.5 million since its opening day – making it the No. 1 movie at the box office. We’re not so surprised since the movie was everything we expected and more.

The fourth installment in the series also shattered a lot of records including the best April opening ever, the best Universal Pictures opening ever (in three-days), Best F&F franchise opening ever and the best opening so far in 2009. It was also the Best opening for the stars of the movie including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster, as well as for director Justin Lin.

The movie also holds the best opening ever for a car-themed movie beating out “Car” $60.1 million opening. Let us know what you thought of “Fast & Furious” in the comments section below.

We were invited to an advanced screening of Fast & Furious last night but chose not to go since we were to busy bringing you live coverage of the Tesla Model S Sedan launch (since we love you guys and everything). Nonetheless, you can be sure we’ll be headed to the theaters on April 3rd to check out all the hot cars, action sequences and of course – the girls.

If you’re not a huge Arizona or Pittsburgh fan, tonight may be the first Super Bowl where your watching the game for the commercials. Besides the Hyundai, Audi, and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen ads, look out for the third official trailer for Fast and Furious.

The 2009 Summer movie season is turning out to look pretty amazing.

Grade: A – The last scene where Vin Diesel goes under the blazing truck is just to unreal to add + in front of that A.

We first saw the trailer to the fourth installment to The Fast and The Furious in August of last year. Universal has now released a second trailer of the Fast & Furious, giving us a better feel for the plot of the movie.

Paul Walker and Dominic Toretto are back after Walker is released from prison to catch a heroin importer with Toretto as his right hand man. Han from Tokyo Drift is also said to make a special appearance in this non-stop thrilling action feature.

Here it is – the trailer to Fast and Furious and we’re not calling it ‘The Fast and The Furious 4′ for a reason. The movie basically takes the characters from the original The Fast and The Furious and puts them in a new plot based on the 1939 film Fast and Furious.

Building off of the original movie Paul Walker’s character Brian is released from prison to help the feds stop a heroin importer. With the help of Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, Brian gets inside the criminal world where he and Dominic plan to catch the man. It is said that Han from Tokyo Drift will make a special appearance in the movie.

Fast and Furious will be released in the summer of 2009.
